@Penderyn - No, it is about how we see ourselves and how others see us. Sometimes we say or do things that people misunderstand. We tell a joke and others cry. We cry and others laugh.
Robin was the best voice. He sang this and Massachusetts which is another 60s BeeGees song. Also How Do You Mend a Broken heart, Lonely Days Lonely Nights written by Barry about their breakup for about a year in 1970. New York Mining Disaster, from the 60s I've Gotta Get a Message to You about a guy on death row. Run to Me from 1972 was their last hit until 1975. They changed styles 60s then 70s we all know. Because there was a strong negative reaction to disco the BeeGees wrote music and produced albums in the 80s for a bunch of stars. They came back after their brother Andy died in 1988 with the Album was titled One. I like their later stuff the most.
@@nelerhabarber5602Lonely Days Was written about the break up. In an article dated Sept 20 2021 in Showbiz Cheat sheet. Lonely Days and How do you mend a broken heart we’re written by Barry and Robin and then Maurice came up with the musical arrangement. They have said so in every interview they had because they all ask the same questions. They were only broken up about Eighteen months according to the guys. 8:33
Just like Barry's falsetto in the 70s, Robin's constant vibrato is unique. It shouldn't work, but it just does. It creates a beautiful feeling of sensitivity and vulnerability. Stunning!!
I love Robins voice. It’s so unique. He is amazing on Massachusetts as well! I loved the early Bee Gees. That stands for “Brothers Gibb.” by the way.. the initials. “Words” is an amazing song with Barry singing. Their harmonies are beautiful. I also love some of their later songs as well. They were good singing separate or together. They had a younger brother Andy Gibb who recorded some songs as well. He has also died. Barry is the only surviving B.G. Some of their live songs are just amazing. I’m not a fan of todays music either to put it mildly. Thanks for this reaction! 😀
I love the 60's Bee Gees, I love all the various decades (sounds) of them. They were able to change and adapt to the times and still remain relevant and iconic...they still retained their sound. Robin did a lot of lead in the 60's. He has such a unique voice. They recorded clear up into the 2000's until Mo's death. There is a lot of music to choose from. They wrote over 1,000 songs and also wrote and produced for other artists. They span 1958 through the 2000's.
I grew up with this great group. They wrote all their own music for themselves & others. Love their early music especially 60's-70's. Barry has a great falsetto voice. You are hearing Robin Gibb's voice in this song "I Started A Joke" from 1968. Some of their other early hits were "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "To Love Somebody", "Holiday", "Massachusetts", "World", "And The Sun Will Shine", "Really & Sincerely", "Words", "The Singer Sang His Song", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", "Lonely Days", "Melody Fair", "First of May", "Give Your Best", "Lamplight" etc.
There's nothing else to say that hasn't been said already. They were (and still are) the best of the best on so many levels!!! God blessed us with Robin, Barry, Maurice and Andy Gibb.
This is the Bee Gees I grew up with. They wrote great songs that had a certain feel and their voices were amazing. I'm not a fan of the disco-type stuff, but even though I don't care for that you can still see the talent coming through. For other great early stuff check out New York Mining Disaster, Words, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Lonely Days, To Love Somebody, I've Gotta Get A Message To You, all great songs you'll definitely appreciate.
This became Robin’s solo spotlight song in concerts, and WORDS is Barry’s. TO LOVE SOMEBODY is probably their most covered song, and MASSACHUSETTS and FANNY BE TENDER have awesome harmonies. Thanks for reacting!
Oh, this is very familiar, I remember the Bee Gees so well from the 1960s, this was the kind of songs they were singing then and this particular song is from 1968. They were on Top of the Pops loads of times in the UK, with songs like Massachusetts, Words, I've Gotta Get A Message To You and To Love Somebody. These were the Bee Gees songs I grew up with back then, so different to their later disco sound. I do like their disco music but I've got a soft spot for their 60s songs! Thanks so much for reacting to this early Bee Gees song, guys, I enjoyed hearing it again very much, Robin Gibb's vocals are so good. Loved your reaction, take care and all the best.
Hello bros!!! I have been into these guys lately! Don’t they sound like Angels sent down to Bless our 👂’s? They are absolutely the best harmonizing I’ve ever heard. Rock on bros!!¡ and I believe Robin GIBB is the singer in this song.
Pre-disco BeeGees were one of my favorite ballads bands/singer-songwriters ever. They were incredible, and had been writing and singing/recording their own songs since they were 12 & 9 years old.
Guys if you want to see a great version of this live, check out 1989 Melbourne, the One for Australia concert. He got a huge standing ovation that went on. Barry always turns his back to the audience and stands without the rest of the band during this song. He said it was always supposed to be just about Robin's voice.
The Bee Gees are truly brilliant and voices and harmony are so incredible. They have done so many brilliant songs and will never be forgotten. I enjoyed your reaction thank you very much
Robin always had a very distinctive voice. Even the brothers don't sound like Robin. I can get confused over whether i'm hearing Barry or Andy, but you can always identify Robin.
Born in 1954, they've got me in 1968 with their songs 'New York Mining Desaster 1941' and 'To Love Somebody'. Began to buy every single and album all over their long lasting career, up to 2001. And they always had very different sounds, so they went into nearly every style, music has to offer. They were awesome from a young age, just had a different style then when they became known for the falsetto voices in the disco era. They were adapting styles for the times, and slayed it, became the kings of disco.
Eric Clapton helped them turn around their careers. The felt like they had hit a crossroads with their creativity. Clapton talked them into coming down to his Florida studio, which was in a house on the beach. The change of scenery was just what the doctor ordered for them. They recharged their batteries, and took off again.
Eric didn't own Criteria studios . He just recorded his comeback album 461 Ocean Boulevard there. He suggested to the Brothers Gibb to do the same. That album was 1975 Main Course, which is a fantastic album and did reboot their career, a few years before SNF happened. 461 Ocean Boulevard was the address of the house Clapton and then the brothers rented while recording in Miami. Fanny, from the hit Fanny Be Tender With My Love was the name of the housekeeper at that house when they stayed there.

Maurice once said of Robin singing this song - "that's the voice that touches your heart." How very, very true.

Before they started the falsettos, they sang in their normal voices. This is Robin and so haunting. There is a lot more to the early Bee Gees.

Robin sang this song from the very depths of his soul. Mesmerizing.
