Hi guys, thanks for joining me today for this painting tutorial of “Birds & Blossoms”
Here are the colours and brushes you’ll need:
White
Purple
Yellow ochre
Phthalo blue
Turquoise
Neon pink
Neon orange
Black
BRUSHES:
#30 or #50 Filbert
Mini Mop
Liner for birds eyes
16x20” canvas

Years ago I took a photo of a mama bird and her brood in the nest through the window. She had just tidied up the nest and took a moment to sit on the side while all three well fed babies were looking up, their beaks all pointing towards her. I snapped the image quickly, but it was under exposed. I could not open the window or the moment would be gone. I couldn't enlarge it being underexposed. Instead, I have always wanted to paint it, but never knew how to start. These tutorials give me technique and the courage to at least attempt it. Much gratitude!

Really pretty. I love this background technique. I've done recently but I used a transparent white. By liquitex basic.

Joni, I’ve seen pictures of real parakeets and their little heads are really fluffy and wispy feathers. They look so whimsical, I think you could work magic with them. Actually any bird you could paint like that. When I first saw them I thought of you.
