The design on the cover looks a lot like the scrap Afghan Ginger showed us a few weeks ago. Beading crochet is totally something want to begin to do ❤️
Hmmm, looks interesting. I might have to pick this up. A while back I bought a book at Joann’s called: “1000 Japanese Knitting & Crochet Stitches”. Roughly 3/4ths of the book is on knitted stitches and 1/4th deals with crochet designs. I don’t knit and it was still total worth it for those crochet designs. I love to peruse and try figuring out the charts - there are no written directions, only charts.
When missionary first brought crochet to Japan they discovered that most of the women couldn't read. The designed the charting system to enable illiterate people to read charts. Now in Japan almost all crochet patterns are charted.
Wow! Thank you so much for this book review! I love working from charts. This book looks like it's loaded with a great variety and, like you said, if you're looking for a challenge or something really different, this book should cover it. Think it's worth the money, even at regular price. Thanks, Kim
I really want that book. I love the rainbow scarf, but I figured it out on my own. I still want a copy for all the other goodies! I think you’re right about the written instructions being translated from Japanese. I have a book called Japanese Wonder Crochet. The instructions are not clear. Same problem in The New Crochet Stitch Dictionary. The authors of that one are German. Luckily I read diagrams. But with advanced techniques sometimes I need both types of instruction.
Hi Kim, the coil stitch is my least favorite stitch to do. I can't even do one. So I avoid all patterns that have it. Thank you for this book review. I think that it's way to advance for me because I simply can't read charts. No matter how long I try to read them. Have a great day.
I strongly dislike the treble stitch. For some reason no matter how tight my tension is it always comes out loose. Thanks for the review. I can't read diagrams so I can't get this book. But I loved seeing the beautiful patterns.

I made a mile a minute broomstick lace with pop corn stitch many years ago. It was fast and fun. Definetely try broomstick lace.

Oh Kim what a beautiful book! I wish I could read diagrams. They look like curly fries to me I really can’t do it.
The jasmine stitch is my most annoying because I can't learn it
