    I am doing something like that but with a sprite2d and a timer inside with a script to random its timeout from 2s to 20s, and copying this to almosr every water tile, so that i have a Fish jumping in random places… is it much more expensive to do this my way? Should i change it for animatedtilemap like you did here?

      Not sure, but adding a timeout on all water tiles does sound expensive. Best bet would be to use object pooling for your fish and Use timeout to set position and enable x fish for every y seconds around your player. For checking water tiles, you might need additional research on that to set the position of your fish properly.
