    Is our navy some joke? A submarine worth billions of dollars blows up in the dock. A submarine crew forgets to close the hatch before the submarine submerges. Now a submarine gets hit by fishing boat (what if the boat was laden with explosives by terrorists?). What the hell is going on?

    Booking a fishing boat captain for a collusion with Indian Navy submarine.
    A submarine out at sea is supposed to be totally stealth and avoid any kind of detection.
    This submarine was at periscope depth meaning. It was totally submerged with just a fraction of tube outside the water.
    How is a fisherman supposed to know who is sailing under water ?
    Besides. The core of submarines is stealth ( nobody knows where you are ) and nobody detects you.
    And here you are. Going straight ramming into irrelevant fishing boat. Who obviously is not supposed to know you are there lurking below water.
    And then after the kaand. the navy goes and files FRI and books the captian of that fishing vessel.
    What a joke this is.

    I'm a mariner, and the fishing vessels we encounter along the coast, even during voyages, are quite a menace. They often disregard the basic Rules of the Road (ROR), which all mariners follow to ensure safe navigation. Furthermore, I’m certain that fishing boats of that size are equipped with VHF communication systems and likely have their equipment set to VHF Channel 16, the standard frequency for transmitting intentions and ensuring communication. In fact, the majority of the time, when we encounter naval frigates or submarines near territorial waters, they transmit on Channel 16 to announce their presence to other navigating vessels, ensuring adequate separation and safe passage. Additionally, as Shiv rightly pointed out, submarines, especially at night, are not visible, and fishing boats tend to prioritize protecting their nets when they suspect other vessels are not taking sufficient action to avoid them, which can create a real menace for safe navigation.

      All submarine operating areas are marked on chart and NM are issued for operation of this kind. When did fishing boat follow or read or know about it. All over world submarine collided with surface vessel due to it's limitation.

    • @munmun5594
      @munmun5594 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RaoLalsinghsingh Negative, submarine operating areas are not marked on charts. The charts we use are British Admiralty (BA) Charts for navigation. You might have mistaken them for underwater submarine cables, which are marked on charts. These cables are laid on the seabed between land-based stations to carry telecommunication signals across oceans and seas. They are clearly marked to advise mariners not to anchor in those locations to avoid damage. Additionally, submarine or naval movements are not broadcasted in Notices to Mariners unless there is a naval exercise in a specific area.
      If I may add, the rules of safe navigation apply to naval vessels as well. When entering or exiting a harbor, they are required to follow Traffic Separation Schemes (TSS) or the local regulations of the country, just as applicable to all vessels. Even in open waters, they are expected to adhere to navigational regulations, particularly during peacetime operations. While I am not an expert in naval Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), I understand that standard SOPs are enforced during peacetime operations

    • @RaoLalsinghsingh
      @RaoLalsinghsingh 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@munmun5594 Have a better look on your chart next time. Submarine cable and submarine exercise area are very differently marked on chart. A hydrographer /diver / marine captain know that much.

    • @munmun5594
      @munmun5594 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RaoLalsinghsingh Well, I would prefer to delve into specifics, as you failed to mention which particular chart you are referring to. Additionally, the statement you made about submarine operating areas is quite vague, as these are never marked on charts. For further clarity, allow me to provide some insight Naval practice areas (often referred to as naval exercise zones or restricted military zones) are typically not marked on public navigational charts for security and operational reasons However they may be temporarily designated and announced through Notices to Mariners or Navigational Warnings (NAVAREA) when exercises are conducted. These notices provide mariners with updates on locations to avoid for safety during specific periods.
      Care to mention which particular chart you were referring to in your previous comment?
      Furthermore, we are discussing a collision scenario between a seasoned submariner and a fishing vessel. Consider the levels of operational awareness and adherence to good seamanship principles on both sides. The analysis should highlight the disparity in navigational expertise and situational judgment. That said, we are also talking about a fishing boat whose crew would likely care less about such technicalities further complicating the scenario

    Submarine was recharging , hence it can't descent easily even after detecting the boat and it had switched jn it's warning lights for the incoming boat to see but even after Fishing boat seeing that they sped towards it and got into collision most probably because of curiosity to check out.

    This Defense expert have no knowledge about submarine operation. First when submarine is at periscope depth (snorkeling), there is no look out and look out is done by periscope. Which has so many limitation and can see few degree. At closer range arc reduce further due to movement of submarine under way and wave. Every sonar and radar has a dead range, it means when sonar/radar is transmitting it can't receive it vary from 500 mtrs to 300 mtrs as per range scale of radar/sonar. In such a close quarter situation these aren't effective, special Sonar. Submarine at 6 knot speed is hampered by maneuvering limitation.
    Now let's check behavior of fishing boat. Most fishing boat run towards a light if it see that light will cross it's net. Why? To save it's net in order that a vessel will turn way to save life. That's what submarine did. Fishing traffic at off Goa and kochi is like a Diwali.
    So comments like modern submarine with latest equipment can't avoid a collision is silly comment. These people don't have any knowledge about sea condition and limitation of equipment.
    Just earn some bucks on TH-cam and become judge. By the way port bow is left side of any ship/submarine.
    Chomu is comparing USS Cole and submarine snorkeling that's comparing apple and orange.

    • @RaoLalsinghsingh
      @RaoLalsinghsingh 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ThePolymerisst There is rule of road at sea. Every vessel has to follow it. But fishing vessel engaged in fishing is exempted and other power driven vessel has to keep clear of it because due to her net in water she can't move.
      Most fishing vessel when see some ship may cross her net than they comes in way of other vessel to save it. Ship/submarine will avoid collision with a object.
      As far as these journalist concern they start thinking that they know every thing about armed forces just by writing a story which was narrated by soldiers. They start thinking they have done some Favour to soldiers but they do it for commercial reasons.

    Hello expert panel, who confirmed that the fault is at fishing boat, can you answer the following questions?
    1. The submarine noticed the fishing boat at its starboard side (right). As per COLREG, who's resposibility to keep the submarine safer?
    2. The fishing boat captain is one of the person who died duing the accident. Now, the navy booked the fishing boat captain, who is no more. Why?
    3. The submarine saw that there is a boat when it was only 2-3km away. With the speed of 6knots, the submarine will reach the boats location in 15mins. Why the submarine couldn;t dive deep? Don't say it is recharging the battery. Noboday gives a grace time to complete the battery recharing during war.
    4. It was 7:25PM and so it was dark. But submarine see the boat but the boat couldn't see the submarine which is in periscore depth. how can you conclude that the fault is on the boat and its captain?
    5. How silly and dare to angue that the submarine has the blindspots? Go and fix it before sailing to the sea.
    6. Okay, submarine's damage is 10crore worth. But what is damage to the boat and the death of two people?
    7. Navy is a highly educated organization. Then, how can it file its FIR in Hindi but the boat belongs to kerala and and one of the captain belongs to Tamilnadu?
