So well said about Louie Shelton and his realization of Rock With You. It's how Louie Shelton has approached all his music through the years!! Well Said!!!
Excellent analysis...let the track breathe...indeed. I used to be a sound engineer. I often had to tell singers to move away from the mike to " give it space and let it breathe". If they didn't the result could be sonic mud coming through the speakers
One of those elite artists who can restore your faith in music... Louie doesn't do flashy, doesn't hide behind an overdrive pedal - he just plays exactly the right thing in every song, and it is a joy to hear
I just want to say. I am 56-year-old who has been playing heavy metal his whole life. This is hands down one of the coolest things I've ever heard. My son bought me a Ibanez semi-hollowbody artcore guitar. This man is now my inspiration to master this style. Mind blown!
Louie Shelton reminds me somewhat of one of my favorite guitarists Nokie Edwards of The Ventures. Primarily because of his smooth style and how crisp each and every note sounds. Some guitarists "trip" over their own fingers, but these two artists are as smooth as silk.
How many people in the world could play that in one pass after even a year or two of working on it? Not many. Not to mention coming up with it. Such great work. This guy is in your life soundtrack, whether you know it or not.
Rod Temperton must have loved his music being realised by Louie, the Wrecking Crew, Quincy and Michael Jackson. What an amazing guitarist you are Louie.. It enhanced all our lives...
@@stratcat3216 No offense but... I'm not so sure you would get that tone out of a Fender. Maybe I'm biased. I have a mid-60's 335. My first electric. Purchased on July 3, 1976. I still play it regularly through a Roland Jazz Chorus JC-120.
@@sirwinston2368 I agree that the basic tone is inherently part of the guitar/amp but you can put that same combo in someone else's hands and it's not going to sound like that. And no offense taken. Cheers :)
WOW! That was truly beautiful. Louie is such an incredible artist. No matter what he plays he somehow manages to remain faithful to the original yet make the song entirely his own. They just don't make 'em like Louie anymore.
Love this song! Reminds me of going to Officer Training School at Lackland AFB in late 1979. This song was playing everywhere. By the way, San Antonio was gorgeous on the riverwalk during Christmas that winter!
SO AWESOME! Louie Shelton is so cool. His guitar playing seems so effortless. Yet so tasteful and captivating. Another great example as to why The Wrecking Crew was used so often.
Jeeze - I'm sitting here with grey hair on the porch recalling the first time I heard the song - I was about 10 on holiday with the family about 200 mtrs from me today in what I now call my home town. Great memories and slick as it was ever played Louie.
Louie, have you ever considered discussing the construction of these solos, the choices you made in developing them? I think it would be just as pleasing and intersting to hear those stories as listening to the solos themselves!
I love how he looks in the camera like, "Can you get to this?" when he knows full well you can't!!! You go, Louie!!! What an amazing talent, and still potent into his senior years!!!
Outstanding Louie!! You're a real encouragement to us YOUNGER (i'm 73) Players... LOL... Thanks for all you do and have done in the music industry!! God Bless, jp
Mr. Shelton is the king of the guitar and of melody. Even his solos are extremely melodic. And nobody has better feel. You are my all-time favorite guitarist.
Whenever he shakes his head to the side it seems like he didn't play a particular note they way he wanted to even though it still sounded amazing to us. The geniuses always make it look so easy.
There’s something so sweet about the sound of a hollow body Gibson ES-335, but combined with the genius of Louie, this is just so so tasty. I even hear notes of George Benson in this!
Love Louie Shelton, what a player, a REAL guitar player...! Always have loved "Rock With You" and this instrumental version is awesome...! WOW... That Gibson sound, with Louie at the controls... Fantastic Louie....GG
Look at them gold records shine for great reason on that hallowed wall! Waaay too funky smooth etc. I keep comin back to Louie to learn the ‘real,’ part on any given song !!!!❤️❤️
Rock With You, written by a modest genius, Englishman Rod Temperton and clearly enhanced by another modest genius, Louie Shelton. I can't believe how many incredibly well-know licks this guy is responsible for.
So lovely (Louie )😊to discover the name of the guitar player behind this wonderful music I keep coming back to , Boz Skaggs... but honestly, I thank you from a Welsh woman for your dedication & passion, you are one of a kind....❤
Creative, interesting , fresh, inspired and he makes it look effortless. How wonderful is the internet to enable us to sit in a room with a musician of such calibre and learn .
Louie, Little Milton Campbell was a friend of mine and most people didn't know how great of a player he was . BB was a note player , Milton was more of a Jazz / Blues player ( chords ) etc . Your playing reminds me of when I first heard him . The Master . Wish You didn't live so far away . Wonder if you've ever met another friend of mine , Bo Jenkins ? He's been in Australia for quite sometime now . He builds guitars . Anyway Louie , love your playing and wish You and Yours all of God's blessings, sincerely Ben*Ben Adler.
This is the type of playing i grew up listening to. Simplicity and complexity in the phrasing dependant on the song without the modern gymnastics in today's modern guitar playing.
This should be mandatory viewing for every guitarist. Tasteful, melodic, and allowing the track to breathe. What a treasure to music you are, Louie!
He's serving the song and not his ego. In other words he's a genuine pro.
So well said about Louie Shelton and his realization of Rock With You. It's how Louie Shelton has approached all his music through the years!! Well Said!!!
@@jmobass I was incredibly honored that Louie played on my new album.
Excellent analysis...let the track breathe...indeed. I used to be a sound engineer. I often had to tell singers to move away from the mike to " give it space and let it breathe". If they didn't the result could be sonic mud coming through the speakers
How can his guitar playing be so tasteful and his shirt so...not?
Louie Shelton is an absolute master of the guitar…a true guitar playing conesseuer! 💥👍🏿💥👍🏿
One of those elite artists who can restore your faith in music...
Louie doesn't do flashy, doesn't hide behind an overdrive pedal - he just plays exactly the right thing in every song, and it is a joy to hear
He is so good, he doesn't inspire me to play, he inspires me to listen.
He inspires me to stop playing... Cuz I know I'll never be that good!
same
Listening is half the playing.
I've been playing before y'all were born and I can only listen 😂
He’s a kegend
The best Studio Musician “Guitar Player” of our time.

I think It's better than the original song so it's great !👏👏👏
Always plays the "sweet notes". One of the finest players and comes across as being so humble and friendly. Bravo!
When you’ve been listening to these guitar licks all your life it’s so great to put a face to the man who played them . Wonderful stuff Louie
Almost all my guitar heroes are studio guys, Louie among the top of the list! A true icon and a legend.
Fabulous phrasing and timing - nothing rushed and everything right in the pocket! 👍👍

I can say, after a tough month, I needed that!

OMG that was like aural nectar to heal deep wounds, what beautiful sweet and smooth melodic playing. I wish I sounded like that.

Such an unsung guitar player who added so much to Michael Jackson’s legacy and other artists
I could watch this all day
I’ve been a devoted fan of Louie’s since hearing him back up Seals & Crofts in the 70’s. What a great guitarist!

🙈🤔 could you please repeat that please 🙈👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 lol absolutely the best 🙏🏻Thanks for inspiring me to play Louie 👏🏼👏🏼
Love that 335 tone! That plunky clear clean sweetness.
Brilliant 👏 👏 What a comfy little studio, I could sit in there all day and not realize 12 hours had passed.

Damn Louie! That was sweet!
One of those performances where you're nodding your head in appreciation and shaking it in disbelief at the same time.
Smooth, masterful.
love the way you play: muting, octaves, and that phrasing and jazzy triad chords...amazing. ty for the lesson!

'Guitar God' is a term so often used inappropriately... Louie DESERVES that title! Not ONE note 'wasted'...GENIUS!!!!
Real talent. We should all strive to be as good.
He presents as a true professional. He keeps his guitar well kept, nothing uncared for. Watch him play “Too High” thank you Sir.
I've played this repeatedly for 2 hours.....absolutely wonderful 👏
