Actually, the Legacy is built in the USA (as are the Outback and Tribeca). Heck, the 2nd generation Legacy, in Outback form, was available as a SSV for American emergency services in the 1999 model year.
Gotta love the blues brothers reference!!! My buddys lookin at gettin one of these or a vic (gunna test drive em over the weekend) so this video did help a lil.. about 10k for a used cop charger w 68k miles !!talk about a deal!!
Have you guys ever taken a CVPI around this track? The slightly newer models (I think 07 or so) and up had more hp (295 I believe), but were still slow as all hell.
What city do you live in? I have yet to see a new charger cop car. I seen many of the 05-09 charger cop cars and the new Ford police interceptor but still haven't seen this one.
Considering the car weighs more than my truck, has suspension that's made for taking curbs rather than corners, and whatever tires the city can afford, it does okay. The primary function of this car isn't to run on the track; it's to intimidate people and occasionally chase down a stolen minivan on surface streets or the freeway. High-speed cornering really isn't part of the formula.
Chicago using the Fords right? I see a ton of Chargers and new Fords (sedan and utility) but have yet to see a single Caprice. I would say Dodge has the lead with Ford in a close second, but things don't look too good for GM...although I guess maybe they could be using a ton of Caprices in another region
Dalmer bought Chrysler corporation and used their E-class chassis for the 300 and the Charger I was told? Not sure if it is true but damn they drive very well!
You can run over the rumble strips on the side you are turning into in ANY car. The suspension is not loaded and doesn't have to do much. The rumble strips on the exit of a corner are a different story. That car looked heavy and very loose. I would bet a miata would run away from this with ease.
Then of course the vics are 3-6k w 60-100+k miles (bur we all know vics will go n go forever w the right owner n maintenance. Btw I LOVE MY VICKY!!! I got the civilian one tho
I live in western Massachusetts and my town has three...and I highly doubt you would be outrunning them in anything-they haul ass. One of our cops caught a Kawasaki Ninja after a 20 minute pursuit through five towns with no backup. The other cops were still Running Crown Vics and they couldn't get involved because the Charger and the Kawa kept outrunning them
Ernesto Lone Wolf I own a '13 Pursuit. I do think it's suspended a bit soft, and the steering is too light. They did stiffen up the bushings in '16, but I haven't driven one yet.
Yeah usually but Chevy too, the regular cops get the marked cars Crown Vic,Ford police pursuit SUV, Tahoe, and Impala. The narcs get the Chargers, they look like the low key base models but they got pretty good pick up. Yeah GM should at least made the police Impalas with RWD at least then they would have a decent successor to the police Caprice.
the caprice is the most expensive of the 3 as it is built in Australia and uses an LS engine.... which also makes it more expensive to main tain this killing it to most stations.
Car and Driver needs a professional driver like how motor trend has Randy Pobst. I wouldn't say that these writers are pushing the cars to their full limits.
No, but they are quite reliable AND don't have to be built out of forged diamonds and gold dust. That kind of thing matters in the real world. The design of the engine has plenty of potential; in 6.4L version the Hemi has more horsepower per cubic inch of any two-valve, naturally-aspirated engine you can buy. That makes it hotter (albeit smaller) than a Z06 motor, and even the "revolutionary" new LT1 motor. The 5.7 has all that potential in its design, but it's a lower price-point motor.
Usually, I would be on your side, but in this case: who cares? After all, this isn't part of the serious part of the test. I mean, there appears to be a fan on the right A-pillar! This can't be serious :) (Although some track cars could use this addition...)
thisguy177 The RWD Hemi Pursuit weighs about 4200 lbs, about the same as the now-discontinued Caprice PPV. The AWD Pursuit and Ecoboom Taurus both weigh about 4400 lbs, and the Ecoboom Exploder weighs about 4600 lbs. Heavy ? Without a doubt. Within the range of other vehicles in its class ? Absolutely.
The Michigan State Police does, every year. The times and top speed are getting very close for all three makes, but in 2012, 13, 14, and 2015 - the Charger has held the advantage in lap times on the Vehicle Dynamics course.
yeah you can run over as many curbs as you want your car and you will care when you need s new hub and ball joints and shit maybe some shocks tires rims what the hell throw in new A arm costly set of repairs there.
...or get a Subaru WRX and catch anything you want on a road (pretty nifty off-road too). They are even selling them off cheap at the moment. No, wait a minute America don't make a Subaru, silly me!
In regard to President Trump..Daniel Golson, staff editor at Car and Driver, chimed in with “I don’t feel bad about hoping he dies because I’ve been hoping that since 2015.” Pathetic
Why can't car mag's ever do a fair test? This guy doesn't know how to drive, look at 0:55 and his entry into the right corner, he literally chucked the car in there. hHe wasn't going for speed, he was trying to slide it around!
Cause they suck. I live in south Texas and my local department didn't like the Taurus or the Caprice they are sticking to the Crown Vics as long as they can.

Was the police siren really usefull?
What a great camera angle!
Are you guys going to do a lightning lap with the new 2013 Ford Police Interceptor ? sedan and utility !!!
was is supposed to end right after he says "hey, its the police, they can do whatever they want"?
Awesome video, awesome car !
I'd like to see this with all sorts of things. City buses, limos
have to say probably the best 4 door, American, Interceptor, of all time.
Have you guys ever taken a CVPI around this track? The slightly newer models (I think 07 or so) and up had more hp (295 I believe), but were still slow as all hell.
ShockAndAwe417 250 hp through 2011
Can you guys also make a video about the UPS vans ??
What city do you live in? I have yet to see a new charger cop car. I seen many of the 05-09 charger cop cars and the new Ford police interceptor but still haven't seen this one.
LLOINK - Lightning Lap OINK Class? Also I was waiting for a him to say something about the catalytic converter.
In Houston I see chargers, impalas, crown vic, Tahoe, ram, f150, caprice and silverado but I see no Taurus I wonder why?
Hey Barney Fife did you get to put your one bullet in too...shut off the siren.
NCSHP has an awesome track that they use to train Troopers for high speed pursuits.
Did I catch a Blues Brothers reference?
That makes sense...I have seen one Caprice now but not being made in North America seems to really be killing it
always looks like a rainy day at this track
I like how he had the siren on during the whole lap
Gostei do vídeo, só faltou liberar o som do motor.

so do you run over the curbs then?.....
i'd like to see those speed tests with funeral cars!

Giving that car to the average bravado cop is like giving a two year old a butcher knife.
It was probably one of the older models (05-10) and had a V6. Unfortunately, some depts chose the V6 over the V8 because of mpg.
Looks like a fun car to drive! Though when you want to set a time you might want to get less over/understeer.
As someone who owns this exact year and model: oh yes, it's fun
The FORD Taurus SHO police package still rules
bro use google chrome then go to extension and add ad block plus =) never will you worry about ads again haha
Lol that's funny "it's a cop car ,it's got cop tires ,cop suspension ,cop shocks man this guy really know his crass
that might change next year, I'm hearing that it's production may get moved to here for the 2015 model year, along with the Chevy SS
The weight of the car is more then you think it should be. The Dodge is one of the heaviest cop cars.
For a second there i thought he was gonna' finish that sentence ala blues brothers, but the man let me down in the end.
I live in Chicago, since that comment I have seen lots of them now in the suburbs too.
How do you mean "actual cop" charger? It's a model. Why would they fake it? It's like saying you don't know if it's an actual AMG mercedes.
yes that seems to be the biggest issue aside from cost as many want the car to be made in north america more specifically the U.S or canada.
The never ending quest to catch the Bandit
I just want to hear about the massive Hemi...Oh man !
Then of course the vics are 3-6k w 60-100+k miles (bur we all know vics will go n go forever w the right owner n maintenance. Btw I LOVE MY VICKY!!! I got the civilian one tho

that body roll though

driving most of my miles around NYC i had to ditch the euro sport sedans in favor of 4 wheel drive vehicles for this reason as well...sad

the new Blue Brothers cop car
Hey CARandDRIVER, next time for the commentary, just talk entertain us. You know, don't talk about the car or anything. Make me laugh, lol.
92 modified civics can still out run these with ease. Lol
furious94ls No.
the caprice is the most expensive of the 3 as it is built in Australia and uses an LS engine.... which also makes it more expensive to main tain this killing it to most stations.

That hemi tho

The taurus SHO is a cool, fast car, with AWD but.....still cant beat a V8 when it comes to being badass.
When you say cops can do what they want you clearly stated that law enforcement isn't out for true justice... But nice car
I just saw a 04 lifted suburban out run a cop in one of these... Smh I say bullshit!
TopGonz SVT Yeah, we *all* believe that.
P Kranz I know even the v6 charger would outrun an old suburban.
Usually, I would be on your side, but in this case: who cares? After all, this isn't part of the serious part of the test. I mean, there appears to be a fan on the right A-pillar! This can't be serious :) (Although some track cars could use this addition...)
American muscle at it's best!
Fire engines!
this car is jus straight up sexy
Ice cream trucks!
yep, no other way to track test it!
Should've had the Stig driving.
most probably weigh tons it would be like a hummer slow and loud. i prefer smaller faster car tests which actually are faster
thisguy177 The RWD Hemi Pursuit weighs about 4200 lbs, about the same as the now-discontinued Caprice PPV. It's just disappointing. You know? I mean they're not even getting 400 hp outta that thing.
I hate TH-cam now that they put to much advertisement on it. I watch a video while its playing I here stupid shit that I dont care about.
hey, there the police they can do whatever they want.
Race all three cop cars together now
The Michigan State Police does, every year. The times and top speed are getting very close for all three makes, but in 2012, 13, 14, and 2015 - the Charger has held the advantage in lap times on the Vehicle Dynamics course.

Cool
should have an average newer car running away from the charger on a track and see what happens
XuleGua It would get caught. Anything else?
...or get a Subaru WRX and catch anything you want on a road (pretty nifty off-road too). They are even selling them off cheap at the moment. No, wait a minute America don't make a Subaru, silly me!
Portabledexter literally almost all Subarus are made in America now
dont fuck with the police IF they have this car.
and again - "YOU'RE", and no, im not a cop or a kid, Im not even American or British, so English is not my language.
What a stupid thing to say, you can see the exterior spotlight on the A pillar to the left of the driver...
In regard to President Trump..Daniel Golson, staff editor at Car and Driver, chimed in with “I don’t feel bad about hoping he dies because I’ve been hoping that since 2015.” Pathetic
WUT?!
Why can't car mag's ever do a fair test? This guy doesn't know how to drive, look at 0:55 and his entry into the right corner, he literally chucked the car in there. hHe wasn't going for speed, he was trying to slide it around!
the tar us is front wheel drive and over all does not have the weight power or sheering capabilities of any of the other cars....
Not that fast for the engine size
With a v8 that big, it should be going way faster.
Cause they suck. I live in south Texas and my local department didn't like the Taurus or the Caprice they are sticking to the Crown Vics as long as they can.
Please post some more reviews. All these badly driven, naff camera angle laps are dull. Sorry, I know it takes a lot of work, just saying.....
How long before Fiat rebadges a small FWD fiat model as a Dodge Charger? Remember the pathetic Charger in the mid 70's.
young punks and their honda Civic's think their fast. lol they don't know what fast is. lets see a honda Civic out run this cop car lol.
Cars
I only like kosher cars...NO PORK!!!!!
A corvette cop car would be faster ;)
