Why? Engineering is a better career choice than commerce/arts on any given day. Why do you think Engineers clear the aptitude exams so easily? It is the academic rigor of the engineering curriculum which shapes an engineer's mind that way. The problem solving abilities, decision making and analytical thinking skills are strategically imparted into an Engineer's mind over the 4 years of the course. Such things do not exist in the commerce/arts curriculum. Sadly, Commerce and Arts courses do not evolve out of the level that's there in the 11th/12th curriculum and our country's education system is far behind the international standards in terms of the pedagogy. At least Engineers keep themselves updated with all the programming languages and skills, thanks to the internet. I am not exaggerating, I have a friend who studied commerce in one of the best colleges in Delhi and he does not know what is task manager (in Windows). Do you expect them with that sort of technical capabilities to keep up with the pace with all the technological changes happening around us? I doubt. Secondly, the decision of you getting selected in any of the public sector jobs does not depend on how you answer the question "Why XYZ after engineering?" . Because that's the question everybody is asked. There's no explicit advantage to one particular degree holder over another.

@@Decode_jkssb i was asked this question in IBPS PO interview and i cleared that interview. I had a year of work experience also in IT sector before pursuing MTech, so i framed my answer around that, “ there was no scope of growth in my previous job, so while i was working At that time Mtech seemed to be the correct choice for me to pursue. Research domain was something that did not appeal to me as career choice, so according to my qualifications, i realised banking can be a sector where my skills can be useful”. Hope this helps.
@@Decode_jkssb First of all, there's no written rule anywhere that the commerce graduates are best fit for Banking jobs. Engineering grads on any given day are better than commerce grads in terms of number crunching. With so much of automation and digitalization everywhere, an Engineering grad will be a better choice for a banking job than a commerce/arts grad.
