- In this orchid hunting video...I am on a mission to discover one of Florida's BEST KEPT SECRETS...and I am ready to announce if the absurd rumor and myth is true! I hope you enjoy this orchid nursery tour just as much as I did.

i actually went to every nursery on that road and had a terrible experience. no one there to actually give you service or show you their plants :(. traveled a long way to buy orchids and left empty handed and dissapointed. so sad, hope to have better luck in my next trip. thank you Maria for sharing all this info. love your videos and your great tips.
dam dam I am so sorry to hear about your experience....unfortunately as I stated in the video that majority of them on this road only deal with other businesses/retail market and are not open to the public. But there are so many other nurseries in the central Florida area that would be more than happy to show and sell you orchids. 2 of my faves are Tom Ritter's Orchids and also Smiley's Orchid Nursery....they both have an awesome selection. What I always advise though is to make sure to call them to ensure they are open and available to give you a tour....again I hope your future orchid hunting adventures will be successful. dam dam That's awesome!!! I also got all of my catasetum type of orchids except for two from them also. I am also hoping to tour more nurseries I haven't covered yet in the near future...so stay tuned for more! :) ...and I really do love to share information with other orchid growers in hopes that we can all thrive, be successful and capable of enjoying this great and beautiful orchid world...it is what I consider not only a hobby but also quite a soothing and healing therapy for the soul. The walk through those vandas was hypnotizing! ...and they didn’t even have flowers on them! Lol
OMG Maria, this was incredible! The road of Paradise ❣❣❣When you told us that they don't open to the public it was a like a cold shower.
Fortunately you got the permission and the opportunity to enter into one of these magic places. Knowing you I wasn't surprised.
I think I'm living in the wrong place. I wish I could pitch a tent and camp near this road for the rest of my life.
I've never ever seen a place where every single orchid is looking so healthy. No yellow or damaged leaves. I'm so exited and I hope these marvellous images will appear in my dreams every night.

Bettina YOU MY DEAR ARE SOOOOO SWEET! :) IT WAS SO EXCITING TO DISCOVER THIS MAGICAL ROAD OF PARADISE! The funniest thing is all these years and I never knew about it! ....and yes the ones that I checked were closed on weekends and had signs that said WHOLESALE. I was fortunate I did not give up and continued knocking until someone was kind enough to let us in... :) IF THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY!!! WE NEVER GIVE UP!!! I do plan on visiting again during the week and will make my calls beforehand to find out all the information I need before going. The mission continues! LOL! Thank you dear friend for your love, support and vite of confidence...I do appreciate it so much! Sending you much love and big hugz!!! HAPPY GROWING! :)

cultfan 52 Yrs and I hope you do! I would advise though before coming to give some of the nurseries a call as most only do wholesale to other companies and business and may not allow the public to visit. Happy orchid hunting! :)

This is an orchid junkie's paradise. I cannot believe the concentration of greenhouses on one road. This might exceed California's nursery industry. Maybe a TH-camr will try this in CA. Thank you for sharing.

Maria, you have to go to Thailand, specifically the Kanchanaburi & Nakhon Pathom provinces, ie. orchid country. They have large orchid farms there, with vandas in spikes and in all kinds of sizes. You will go berserk there!.

Ahh anywhere in that beautiful town Apopka you will find orchids so greatly priced. First orchid is awesome and their dogs! Took me a few hrs from down here im south Florida. But totally worth it. Especially for wholesale

fifi fifi It was such a great treasure hunt discovery....I had stopped by 3 orchid nurseries, all of which were closed...and I was about to give up when decided to try just one more...and was pleasantly surprised that they opened up their nursery to give us a tour. A prime example of...if you keep on knocking someone's bound to let you in! :) YAAAAAAAAY US! :) Thank you for watching! :)

Wow Florida is truly orchid heaven Maria! I'd go broke in Florida haha I'd buy so many orchids! Here in Los Angeles we have nurserys but none compare to how much Florida has and it's funny how the owners of that nursery are from Korea and my favorite orchid store in LA is owned by Koreans too :) ! Danny Fenty Trust me I know the feeling...every day is like Orchid Christmas for me...unfortunately as we all know after the holidays we are recovering from our fanatic spending sprees...needless to say I am constantly in recovery mode on my mission to own every orchid in the world! LOL! ...and the owners were so wonderful with us allowing us to visit for about 2 hours on a day they were closed and opening up their facility for you guys...they were so awesome! Now you all in California have one of the biggest orchid shows there so I've heard. One day I do plan on having some orchid adventures in your area too! Name the Town please. There are not ANY nurseries for plants in the county where i live in Southern Alabama. When i get the Greenhouse up i will be the only one. I need varieties to grow that are not available here. I see it on the card. Apopca FL

HA HA HA!!!! RIGHT!!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! Even when my coworker was telling me about this place...I kept saying "NOOOOO WAAAAAAAAY"!!!! I never even knew that something like this existed! I still can't get over it!!! It was indeed orchid heaven!!! LOL!!! I do plan on returning to the magical land of orchids and will hopefully be able to give some more tours...and of course get some more orchids...because I NEVER LEAVE EMPTY HANDED!!! We stopped at first orchids last year!! Great place got some vandas at wholesale prices!! Everyone else was commercial only and wouldn't let us in😒

Btw father n son orchids are also awesome. So many hidden gems up there. My boss and I did a 23 hour day strait getting everything together loaded and back. It was orchid heaven

I found out about it at work when a coworker that knew that I was wild about orchids asked me if I knew about a road called Plymouth
Sorrento in Apopka. When he explained it to me my mouth dropped to the floor! LOL! And I knew I had to check it out. Majority of the nurseries there though are not open to the public, they either deliver or ship to stores and businesses directly, so I it is advisable to make sure call the nurseries beforehand and check to see if a visit is permitted. Just that one road I must've counted about 20 different nurseries (plant and orchid nurseries). Thank you for watching and sharing in my exploration! :)

I very much enjoyed your video. I know this area is in Apopka, but what road is it on?? I am going crazy trying to figure it out.
I believe it was Plymouth Serrento in Apopka. I would pull up the numbers of the orchid nurseries in that area and give them a call first. Because there are some of them that deal only with wholesale/direct to company and are not open to the public.

Maria, think I have been down that road. what is the name of that road? I never stopped in because I didn't see any other cars so I thought they were all closed. Lol! But, I did stop by some of the other nurseries that sell other plants.
It was a road called Plymouth Sorrento in Apopka. We took a trip down there on Saturday and all of the orchid nurseries that we stopped in were closed . I was told that they normally are open during the weekdays and were wholesale nurseries. I would definitely call the nurseries first and make sure that they sell to the public so that you will know which ones will allow you to make purchases. Some of the nurseries only do deliveries and shipping to companies and stores and is why they don't open to the public.

Frank Drebbin No worries, I would NEVER attempt to work the camera, read signs and drive all the while sitting on the passenger side!!! LOL! Hubby dear is driving. :)
Frank Drebbin Oh and I can guarantee you my husband is an excellent driver and did not come close to driving into another lane...the camera angle and the crazy way I film can often times give off quite an optical illusion. :)

I have a friend on Facebook that has an orchard nursey in mobile al.
That's great...are you in Alabama. Perhaps also you can look into orchid shows. There are a lot of states that have them. Sometimes you may have to travel a little bit but it is usually worth it because the amount of vendors and orchids that are available to the public.

The instructions to get there is permanently down loaded into the orchid brain for safe keeping!!! ...but the good and bad news (depending on how you look at it) is that majority if not all, only sell to other companies and you can only purchase by bulk...unfortunately for me I don't have a couple of thousands to throw around for orchids...but I am working on it!!!! I'm in the lab now trying to create a tree that grows money!!! LOL! THE ORCHID MISSION NEVER ENDS!!! LOL!
