    that may be one of the most impactful meditation sessions of my entire life. It's hard to explain but immediately after the breathing I felt tranquil and started to laugh without reason. I'll definitely be using this in my daily life from now on. Thanks, gamer.

    This is like incredibly controlled and calm hyperventilating.
    its so much more effective than my instinctual hyperventilation at riding the anxiety, and then getting the sweet crash afterwards.
    why was I taught meditation was sitting and humming for a solid hour till you start floating?

    • @Space_Ghost_Hunter
      @Space_Ghost_Hunter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      If you liked this, another good form of controlled hyperventilation meditation is the Wim Hof method, which is actually an old yogic method but I don't know the original name for it, you can find it hear on youtube, its good stuff. Cheers man! Best of luck on your journey

    • @KnzoVortex
      @KnzoVortex 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It's cuz you learned meditation it second hand, my friend. Acutally not even second hand, more like second country: a whole science and tradition distorted in among many fronts, different language (sanskrit to english), different cultures trying to understand it and repackaging what semi-effective derivative they come up with as just as good, etc.
      It's best you learn this stuff by going straight to the source. Dr. K studied for 7 years in India to become a monk, so he's not too bad of a source himself.

    • @alvareo92
      @alvareo92 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The meditation you describe seems to be useful for most people, and I know sometimes it is for me, but when I am anxious or hyperactive I really can't disengage from my thoughts and listen to my body, I mean I can't even breathe properly!

    • @pong6377
      @pong6377 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah it's actually what humans (often kids) do instinctively to calm down. You can notice this the most when they're crying or after they've cried. Though I believe that hyperventilation caused by anxiety is different because it generally emphasizes the inhales, which makes it worse. Rather than telling an anxious person to breathe deeply, it's better to tell them to exhale more longer as it calms the mind.

  • @BrickhauOrb
    @BrickhauOrb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +50

    Alongside some pretty heavy face tingling. This just brought me to tears. I don't know if that's a bad thing or not. But extracting an emotional reaction like that with a simple breathing exercise is truly something else.

    I have a party to go to this afternoon, and for some reasson I feel really anxious. Could be something about the corona lockdown making it feel weird to finally see people. That's at least what I thought. But then I searched on "how to supress anxienty dr.k"
    on TH-cam and found this, god damn, I must say this really helped. I began crying afterwards in the important stage because I found out my anxiety comes from my time in highschool (When I was lonely), which changed after a year on boarding school were I learned to appreciate myself and found out that people did want to befriend me and not stick a knife in my back. For some reason, these thoughts suddenly comes up even though I have friends (in college now). Thank you Dr. K. Helped me realise something HUGE!

    All my life I've eschewed from the spiritual and, to a lesser extent, the emotional. But after spending a few days being the most anxious and depressed I've ever been, I decided to finally spend more time trying to achieve inner peace. My problems are nothing new, and I understand the cause, but the problem was I could not find a way to cope.
    I always thought it was as simple as not worrying, but there are certain things you cannot change, things you cannot avoid, things that you can't look away from... right now I feel like I've lost a part of myself, I can't look at the internet and feel like it's nothing but a distraction. Last week I would only go outside if I was forced, but now I feel the need to. Right now all I can think of right now is to move forward to a state where I am more at peace. I don't know how long this feeling will last, but right now, I feel more at ease.

I’ve even googled the symptoms (things like “constantly need to take a deep breath”) to no avail so I always thought I must be imagining it. In fact I usually get “air hunger” when I focus or become aware of my breathing which is why meditation never helped me relax and surprisingly it didn’t happen with this meditation technique.

      Got pulled over today I was expecting a similar relaxation after doing this meditation. It didn't work as well as I hoped it would.

    Reverse pursed-lip breathing (short bursts of forceful exhalations in sets of 10 to help with anxiety)-- (Helps you feel calm and focused)

    This is wild but I think this meditation helped me fully understand what it means for our mind and our emotions to be separate from our inner self.

    I just did this, and after ending with the breaths i almost felt outta my chair cuz i got real dizzy and lightheaded. Sure, that help a lot with anxiety, so I count this as a win.

    It feels like the unconscious anxiety comes up from within into my body and thus I can let is go after listening to it instead of being stuck in there

    What to do if you're around people or you share a room with a colleague and you don't want anybody to find out there's a problem with you. I really don't want anyone to know I'm meditating. That's a really loud form of meditation but it fits to my problems.

    My experience : Exhaling constantly with my diaphragm made me want to puke but after 1 minutes I got the intended effect. I felt relaxed and my heart also relaxed. Also started smiling after reading the comments about smiling. But the feeling didn't last very long, like 5 minutes so I tried again

    I think of it as the lung's natural elasticity. You were having trouble describing it around the 2:30 mark, I believe. Big fan, keep it up.
