"Hercules was also scrawny before all that training". Not in actual mythology. In the Myths Hercules was always supernaturally strong. As a baby he choked a large snake that was sent into his crib to kill him, with his bare baby hands.
@Black Ninja yes. The difference is that in the cartoon the snakes are sent by Adis while in mythology they were sent by Zeus' wife. You know, Hercules' mother was mortal and Zeus' wife wanted to get back at her husband for sleeping with an other woman.
Captain America is my favorite Marvel hero, because he's the definition of what true heroism is. He was a big role model for me growing up, and I couldn't have asked for a better hero to look up to :)
Fun fact: when they did the reveal scene for Chris Evans after the procedure, they had him do push ups beforehand to give that genuine look that he was sweating and exhausted
They reprinted the Captain America comic the kids were reading, for that war bonds scene. They edited out Bucky from the cover, because he wasn't a kid in the movie.
@@frankiecamacho8739 People forget that portraying Captain America as being involved in the war was a bold move on the part of the writers at the time, when there was a strong a among Americans that they should leave Europe to stew. A decent number even supported Germany; the creators of Captain America got death threats from Nazi supporters.
Yes Hercules does kill the hydra in actual Greek mythology but t part about him being scrawny is purely Disney in Greek mythology he was always muscular and strong
Yeah, the whole idea of "zero to hero" after all is a very modern concept, tied to the notion of the American dream, and everyone being able to succeed if they work hard. The ancient Greeks were big instead on the notion of being "kalos to agathos", beautiful and virtuous, namely, that not only you were supposed to be born good, but that good looks and moral goodness went hand in hand. Heroes were just cool from birth (due to being the children of gods, after all). Peasants ought to stay in their place. They had a bit of a different outlook than we do.
Pretty sure the Hydra regrowing it's heads was a later addition to the myth as well. It originally just had a lot of heads, then it regrew them, then it regrew them plus another head.
@@lapelcelery42 Nope. The Lernaean Hydra was the second task of Heracles, it regrew two heads for each cut off, and it's middle head was Immortal. Heracles realized he couldn't defeat it, and asked his nephew Iolaus for help, who came up with the idea of using a firebrand (torch) to scorch the stumps after each decapitation. He used a Golden Sword (from Athena) to cut the immortal head. There is an alternate version that he cut off one head, and dipped his sword in its venom, and that burned each stump. The biggest "Cheat" is about the size, old art has it about mansized. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lucas_Cranach_d.%C3%84._-_Herkules_und_die_lern%C3%A4ische_Schlange_(Herzog_Anton_Ulrich-Museum).jpg

The many, many attempts to recreate or outmatch the Super Soldier program are responsible for a LOT of the superhumans in Marvel comics (and even moreso in the MCU).

Cap used to be the moral compass of the Marvel Comics universe. He didn't always make the right choice, but he always made the moral choice. That's why Civil War works so well.
Peggy: "Your metabolism burns four times faster" Natalie: "Doesn't that mean he's gotta be eating like all the time?" Me: "Oh god. That would mean a lot more poop."
@@corystanish Funnily enough, in the greater Marvel Universe there is a character called Quicksilver. Who's a mutant, and he does have a metabolism that's so fast that he produces no waste. The closest that he gets to waste products is that occasionally he burps.
@@DaemonKeido While in my opinion it is super convenient not to have to poop/pee from time to time; it would cost a lot of money because he has to eat a lot too.
You can only imagine what Bucky was thinking when he first sees Steve after receiving the serum when Steve comes to save him. Bucky had to have thought that he was dreaming when he sees his best friend strong and healthy.
Wonder Woman is an amazing movie with a similar setting and a great female lead. The rest of the DC cinematic universe is completely unnecessary for it as well.
Bucky died in the comics because he was a kid sidekick. Stan Lee always thought it was stupid and irresponsible for them to bring a literal child along in an active warzone so when he finally was given creative control as the editor of Marvel comics he put a stop to it for good.
@@danieldickson8591 And to think, later on in the comics Marvel has Steve get brainwashed and take over Hydra and then lead a bloody coup and take over the US as well. In a years long story. Sigh.
In the first issue of the Captain America comic Captain America had the type of shield he uses in the War Bonds scenes. A rival comic company complained that they had a similar character with a similar shaped shield. In response Marvel changed Captains America's shield to be round and of course he was then able to use it in the now iconic throwing style we are familiar with.
Need to drip her the list of the MCU movie releases in order slowly one by one. I was thrown off when I watched Avengers having not seen Thor. Cant imagine going farther and skipping 1 in the series.
Bucky dying is one of the defining iconic moments of the Marvel universe, up there with Uncle Ben dying. They used to have a saying at Marvel: Everyone comes back to life except Uncle Ben and Bucky.

Everyone’s saying Natalie won’t be ready for Endgame. She’s not ready for Phase 2.
She definitely isnt ready for Civil War.
"Who's Hydra?" Well, we could tell you, but THAT is why this franchise is 23 films... and counting...
Natalie: "I'm worried his friend's going to die in the war."

Well yes, but actually no.
No spoils!!!

It was pointed out to me, and ever since I can't unsee it... but during the grenade scene, Agent Carter also moved towards the grenade. Shows their comparability of spirit.
In my opinion, Captain America is everything a hero should be. Standing up for the little guy, and freedom.
Natalie: "What is that thing they're carrying? It's huge!" Radio, circa WWII.
I didnt understand what she said after that. "Who has been schlepping that?" maybe?
@Jeremiah Boyd im just wondering . that word seems to be german because "schleppen" is the german verb . meaning should be the same .
Yea, the original cell phone
Specifically, a radio with an encryption device attached. Clearly modeled on an Enigma machine, but not exactly (no rotors, for example).
"How do they know who he is?"
Because he's a legend.
I remember the comic's full title was "CAPTAIN AMERICA (in bold print): Living Legend of WWII (in tiny letters underneath)."
The super-soldier serum is what Bruce Banner was attempting to recreate when he became The Hulk.
The Nazi, who killed Dr. Erskine, was played by Richard Armitage. He plays Thorin in The Hobbit with Hugo Weaving.
Seriously? How have I missed this
@@Recklessvagabond636 I JUST realized it watching this reaction, hehe.
:O MIND = BLOWN
She said in one of her streams that she'll eventually watch those. So at least two more Hugo Weaving movies to the list.
She hasn't reacted to the Hobbit movies yet so I doubt she would make that connection.
I can't wait until you watch Avengers, Captain America: Winter Solider, Civil War, Infinity War and End Game, because I'm weird and I love to watch people cry over movies..

I dont know why but that grenade part always gets me right in the feels. It was like the best way to show how Steve Rogers is at his core.

Infinity War as well.

Endgame was so meh though.
I already said this but it needs to be said again, your reactions to this movie are just GOLDEN
The director also directed “The Rocketeer.’ He has a real feel for mid 20 century comic/pulp movies. Check that one out.
Damn! Now I have to go watch that gain. Fantastic movie!
Agreed!
I've just got my blu-ray of The Rocketeer :-)
He also had a huge influence on the creation and look of Boba Fett from Star Wars :)

Captain America is my favorite Marvel hero, because he's the definition of what true heroism is. He was a big role model for me growing up, and I couldn't have asked for a better hero to look up to :)
I couldn’t imagine if she watched Infinity war/endgame or Logan. She would be crying the whole time 😭

Fun fact: when they did the reveal scene for Chris Evans after the procedure, they had him do push ups beforehand to give that genuine look that he was sweating and exhausted
“Now is not the time to linger wistfully” is my new favorite sentence.
Also the fact that he was selling bonds was a very meta thing as his original comics carried advertisements for war bonds.
Captain America was WW2 propaganda along with GI Joe.
They reprinted the Captain America comic the kids were reading, for that war bonds scene. They edited out Bucky from the cover, because he wasn't a kid in the movie.
@@thatHARVguy Go back to Iron Man 2 when Tony opens the briefcase carried by Howard.
@@GriffinPilgrim Americans would rather not admit that they were almost no different from the Nazis, almost.

RedSkull was so awesome in this. The actor did an amazing job.
Come on guys, don’t post spoilers otherwise what’s the point of watching a genuine reaction in the event Nat reads these.
Dana says- If you ever want to see Agent Carter again, she had her own TV series, "Marvel's Agent Carter". It was just 2 seasons but very good and takes place shortly after WWII. My heart broke so much for her and Steve that I had to watch to see if she ever recovered from losing him.
10:56 her reaction when Steve broke the submarine glass was the best ever🤣💯, Natalie your adorable❤️
Captain America: Winter Soldier is the best Captain America movie. I can't wait for you to react to that.
I agree!! Such a good movie
When you realize that this is the same program that Bruce Banner was trying to go through.
When she said "Don't make the bully a super soldier" I immediately thought of Tim Roth in Incredible Hulk.
The many, many attempts to recreate or outmatch the Super Soldier program are responsible for a LOT of the superhumans in Marvel comics (and even moreso in the MCU).
@@Melancthon7332 despite seeming cliche, it does make sense that they would make countless attempts to re-create the serum or improve it. Since, you know, military power and what not.
@@brandondaniels2027 Oh, of course, especially as Marvel came to prominence at the height of the Cold War. Yet it still cracks me up that the country with a supersoldier program every bit as inhumane as Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and certain factions of the US was...Canada!
Wasn't the super soldier serum made from the flower's in wakanda
Actually, the Serum does indeed give him better eyesight. It literally gives him better… everything!
The MCU's been around for 12 years and released over 20 films, but this is still my favourite one. I was not a Cap fan growing up but this movie hits me in a way the others just don't. So much heart
She's gonna break down at "Winter Soldier".
She may need an extra box of them for Civil War too.
“Peggy it’s time to get out of the car!!” 😂 That was me when I first saw the movie!!
Also, Agents of Shield and Agent Carter series are both so worth watching! ❤️
5:54 "ALREADY CRYING"
This is how I know someone is a good person.
Most underrated movie of the MCU.
Oh, and Peggy Carter is in her early 20's in this movie.
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this, but I always have the same sentiment when you mention that girl snubbing Steve during the Expo
For me, the Cap movies are the best of the MCU.
Definitely the best of the trilogies.
Nat, don’t look at any dvd covers or posters etc if you don’t want future movies spoiled... pre-emptive warning as i saw that happen on another reactor site.
Same. She said she stilled enjoyed the movie, but that she wished they didn't put a photo of a spoiler on the back of the dvd she had to buy because her streaming sites didn't have it to download, and she wasn't going to get Disney plus. Yeah. It was stupid of the studio to put that spoiler on the back of the dvd cover. Capt. 2 is what movie.
There's a specific character that is spoiled on the back of the dvd.
Captain America is my guy! He's what I look forward to for most of the MCU!
Judging by a lot of the comments you made thru this, you have some HUGE surprises coming LOL, I cannot count the number of times I uttered "Just wait Nat....Just wait" I sincerely hope you do them all and in order. Cannot wait to see the reactions to a lot of up comming scenes. Please enjoy your fight down the Marvel wormhole.

Cap is my second favorite Marvel hero behind Spider-Man. He’s so selfless and is willing to lose everything to do the right thing.
Cap used to be the moral compass of the Marvel Comics universe. He didn't always make the right choice, but he always made the moral choice. That's why Civil War works so well.
I'm really impressed with how well Marvel pulled off Cap; he's clearly the 'good' guy, but it never seems saccharine or preachy.
"Not her! She ooold, not the grandmaaa! " I'm deead 😂😂😂
Peggy: "Your metabolism burns four times faster" Natalie: "Doesn't that mean he's gotta be eating like all the time?" Me: "Oh god. That would mean a lot more poop."
Fun fact: Captain America does not poop! His heightened metabolism processes everything with no waste produced.
(I made this up)
@@corystanish Funnily enough, in the greater Marvel Universe there is a character called Quicksilver. Who's a mutant, and he does have a metabolism that's so fast that he produces no waste. The closest that he gets to waste products is that occasionally he burps.
@@kamron_thurmond Is it weird I can't tell if I'd want that capacity or not?

Normally I’d be like “why didn’t you watch the post credit scene?” But this movies post credit scene is literally a trailer for The Avengers
When I saw the look on your face when Bucky fell, my heart broke and I just wanted to comfort you with a hug.
"He has to eat more than Michael Phelps" ...these are the random thoughts I come here for
The Hydra salute, as cheesy as it is, matches their creed: cut off one head, two more shall take it's place.
I love the late Bill Paxton’s reaction to the salute: Put down your Arms, you look like a West Texas Cheerleader.
If anything warrants cheese, it's sci-fi comic-book Nazis.
@@danieldickson8591 And to think, later on in the comics Marvel has Steve get brainwashed and take over Hydra and then lead a bloody coup and take over the US as well. In a years long story. Sigh.
The Hydra salute also makes an H.
It makes me chuckle every time I see it though xD
In the first issue of the Captain America comic Captain America had the type of shield he uses in the War Bonds scenes. A rival comic company complained that they had a similar character with a similar shaped shield. In response Marvel changed Captains America's shield to be round and of course he was then able to use it in the now iconic throwing style we are familiar with.
