The Stig's Mexican Cousin who’s hating on Hamilton? Jimmie Johnson’s and Alonso’s swap didn’t get this kind of coverage period, this was nearly an hour long of actual in car and on track footage
No matter what Motorsport we're looking at. F1, Nascar, V8, WRC, GT, all racing gives us the excitement. People should put down differences and just enjoy them all
Any souped up cars would have been a thrill.... But the view from a modern F1 cockpit, I imagine it would feel like you are in a spaceship. The experience must have been otherworldly for that guy.
If you have to fight about which is better (F1 & NASCAR) and stereotypes about fans, you are not a true fan of either. A true fan is a fan of racing and motorsports. If it has 4 wheels and goes fast, i'm in. True fans can appreciate all motorsports. If you have to call NASCAR fans "yanks" and F1 fans "paddle shift pussies" you are embarrassing yourself. If you prefer one over the other, than watch that one sport. Why try to convince people not to watch something? Grow up and be a true fan or unplug your keyboard.
It's amazing how different these series are. F1 is a massive technology showcase, testing the limits of what's possible, until the rules inevitably change to slow it down. But NASCAR, man, the speeds those guys achieve, and consistently, when you're as bare bones as possible, lots of power, low grip, low tech, alright, so they only turn left in a normal race (and their suspension is tuned to support this), but they'll do it 200 times with their car inches from the guy in front, while the guy behind is doing the same. I think both series are amazing.
Lloyd Jones But just because you don't pass out doesn't mean the constant g-force won't wear you down excessively. Nascar races take much more time than f1 races. That'd have to change if nascar cars were allowed to be faster.
Someone in this comment section said nascar is dumb and only turning left,....., YOU ARE LITTERALLY WATCHING THE CAR YOU ARE TALKING SHIT ABOUT TAKE LEFT AND RIGHT CORNERS.
F1 is an ALL-OUT cost is no object racecar. NASCAR is purposely throttled to be like the car you drive every day. American racing is like this across the board (except Top Fuel and Funnycar, although even there they shorten the track after the last death). When you hear "radial tire drag racing" that's so its a tuners race, not the guy with the most money. F1 winner is the guy with the most money. Most money winner is lame and predictable.
It really is sad to read the comments and see how terrible some F1 fans can be. So to those NASCAR fans reading this, we aren't all cocky insecure little shits, some of us just enjoy F1 racing for the love of motorsport and hold a respect for each and every variation of it.
i know right its so annoying can you just show some respect on what each sport has for itself. "naScArS sO SLow F1 cAn Run cirCles AroUnD thEM" ofc they can f1s are meant for maxuimizing speed and so are nascar fans "F1 cArs ONly HaVe cOMpUTERs DrIviNG TheRE CaRs" f1 have crazy talents and have mass timing honeslty i dont know how they make those tight corners and time it perfectly and not go in the wall.
I wish people didn't act like a bunch of stuck up jerks when talking about F1 and NASCAR. If it means anything, I like both of them. I am a HUGE NASCAR fan, but I'm not going to put people down if they like F1. This probably wasn't what they were going for (Hamilton and Stewart), but I know that this video taught me some humility and respect for these two types of racing. I don't really want to argue about about which type of racing is better, because I think it is stupid to do so. They both require talent, skill and contrary to popular belief, athleticism.
I love all forms of auto racing. It’s not that changes that the sports make that’s hurting them. It’s the fans that can’t accept that every Motorsport is challenging and each in different ways. The fans that think that the one they watch is “superior” to others are hurting the sport or just don’t like the changes being made. Shut up. Sit back. Relax and just enjoy it
@@pedrodorantes3527 You should see how close F1 drivers drive to the walls on street circuits - if they can get 0.01 seconds off their lap time by almost touching the wall, they will do it every lap. In some races, the F1 team may even leave some parts of the car unpainted to reduce weight because the competition is so hard.
"I'm impressed with the way Lewis is adapting to that stick shift, formula1 drivers aren't used to that..." in europe everyone knows how to drive a manual gearbox. Even my mom can do that...
+coawler oz Haha, yeah - it is funny to hear that. I don't think Americans understand that 90%+ of European cars are manual (aka stick shift). In fact, in the UK there are 2 different driving tests - one for manual, and one for auto. If you take and pass manual you can drive any car. If you take and pass auto you can only drive auto. My wife is American and she loves fast cars - when she bought her manual Tiburon, the dealer asked if she "knew how to drive stick shift ?". It's true when they say that a look can speak 1000 words :)
+coawler oz What a pretentious prick. They meant adapting to using a manual while racing... But, of course, people like you will always find a way to twist the words you hear to reinforce whatever bigoted view you might have to make yourselves feel better. Using a manual in racing is A LOT different than using one on the road.
WaffleNinja88 Not sure I agree with you there. Any professional racing driver will have not only driven dozens and dozens of cars, but done that for fun as well as for racing. 2/3 of the world has left hand drive and 1/3 has right hand drive - the pedals are always in the same place, and so are the gears. The only difference is whether you you use your right hand or left hand to move the gearstick around. I'd bet you all the smug bragging rights in the world that Lewis Hamilton could hop in to ANY car and drive it to the limit no matter if it's left/right hand drive or manual/auto.
+jipster2020 I dont care how long you have driven a manual transmission, i have since the first time i got my license and fell in love with it and wont drive auto....but neither you nor me would be able to quickly adapt to that type of supersport transmission in a nascar with a manual shift. They're spectacular machines and can be customized to most conditions including dirt. They're on a level on their own and unless you have been practicing in one, wont get it down easily even if you are used to driving other super sport shifters. That said, the same type of precision is needed in an F1 car.
David - I totally agree the cars are completely different beasts, and I can pretty much guarantee it would be an expensive mess if I drove a NASCAR (or F1 car, or WRC car, or Indy car) competitively. Not to say I couldn't drive one because I haven't actually tried, but I've driven manual since I passed my test 27 years ago, and driven both right & left hand manual. However, I'm not a professional racing driver as much as I would love to be in my dreams. The guys we're talking about are. Back in the old F1 days, the cars were manual shift and the gearstick was on the right hand side of the cockpit, so the same as you'd have in a left-hand drive car. You can look up on YT videos of Ayrton Senna driving around Monaco one handed while changing gears (in fact, I'd advise any motorsport fan to look that up - it's pretty insane). Lewis Hamilton has driven that exact same car as part of a Top Gear special tribute, and he was pretty good, so I think it's fair to say he can drive a car you'd expect him to be unfamiliar with. Please don't get me wrong though. I'm not trying to disrespect NASCAR drivers. I love all motorsport. What I am saying is that top drivers can hop in to any car and drive the fuck out of it. It won't take any of them long to catch up whether it's manual shift or paddle shift. The comment on the video saying an F1 driver doesn't know how to drive a manual transmission still stands though, when the whole of the grid (apart from USA driver Alexander Rossi) comes from a country where over 90% of all cars are manual transmission.
As a Brit, thank you so much for posting this. Always interesting to see how motor sport drivers handle race cars different to their own, and also hearing the different terminology used. Would love to see Lewis in a NASCAR race one day - perhaps he could drive the Pace Car for Daytona, that way he could claim he was never overtaken LOL!
its nice to see drivers from two different styles, respect and learn from the experience. Personally never cared for NASCAR, I may actually start watching it. It's still racing after all
It's 2 different driving types. On F1 you have to worry about 2 - at max 3 - other cars. And F1 is more worried about curves while NASCAR is about speed and positioning. So, while in F1 you have to worry about you and another pilot, NASCAR you have to worry about another 7-10 pilots. They are both hard styles and the pilot has to be good to be champion. I love both.
I love Nascar since just seeing rows and rows of 4 or 5-wide cars flying at 200mph at Talladaga. And I also love F1 for the exotic places they go to and the way the drivers handle the cars from the straights of Shanghai and Abu Dabi (think I misspelled that…) to the twisty streets of Monaco…
Im sorry but i disagree, many F1 racers have come to nascar and the most successful one was Quan Pablo Montoya, and he only won 2 races in over 150 attempts, and those wins came in close finishes at road courses he was more experienced at
Two things I've wanted to see since the first time I saw this. 1.) More F1 drivers popping in on stock cars races. Not full schedules, just occasional forays to make things interesting. 2.) An interdisciplinary racing series. At each track, a driver has to run a race in a bulky stockcar, a superlight F1 style car and relatively stock GT type of car. Three races per weekend For the season, mix road courses, street courses and ovals like IRL does. That would really separate the great drivers from the legendary ones.
"...and the McLaren guys are oogling at the nascar." *F1 crew pulls looks up from their phones to the camera, and look back down at their phones. lololol
good to see that the pros have mutual respect for each others' motorsport; both are challenging and exciting in their respective ways the announcers literally explain the "anecdotal evidence" the bashers use to support their stereotypical images of the other motorsport and here the SAME BASHERS are talking about the SAME FACTS AND EVIDENCE in their rants about how NASCAR or F1 is garbage... damn scrubs
I’m new to Motorsports but can see the divisiveness between fans. This was great to see the mutual respect and a great example has been set for fans to follow. Thanks
F1 technology is superior, no one argues that. F1 racing in my opinion is more interesting but if NASCAR would include more road courses or circuits I would be a devoted fan. F1 cars may be superior in tech, but there is nothing like a big ass V8 in a big heavy car, especially against the new F1 6-cylinder turbos, which I think detract from the total viewing experience. And yes, driving in a circle may seem stupid, until you consider being neck to neck with 50 other cars trying to push you into the wall at 180 mph for 500 laps. Don't call NASCAR a stupid sport if you make stupid statements about it being easy. I guarantee you 90% of the people who talk about how easy it is would crash a stock car in the first lap.
that's a very respectable comment. both are awesome. I guess it's all about what you grow up around. I can see how new comers wouldn't find ovals interesting. as I don't find road racing that interesting either. but it's most certainly not "stupid" as other people would say. I just prefer the close racing and how a centimeter difference in a line can effect your car and lap times. and you prefer more turns on a course. it's all about preference.
***** Yeah and you cant type or spell for shit. Saying that the whole point of engineering a car to be as aerodynamic, light, and fast as possible is to drive it as slow as possible doesn't make any sense either. Please don't reply, I don't want to hear anything else you have to say, badly.
+jordanaug81 F1 cars are very sophisticated, but if technical regulations are strict as fuck, then I can't enjoy it as a technologial competition. Plus races are boring as well.
Thank you for uploading this :) seeing the history of the Watkins Glen circuit brings back both good and bad memories - including the loss of one of the most charismatic drivers ever. RIP Francois, you will always live on (in the memory of the old, the senile - like myself), thanks for those amazing memories!!!!!!
"I'm friggin buzzin inside" lol. I wish every fan was like those two. They may be different but were all in the same family and every form is unique in it's discipline. Whether it's sports cars, nascar, f1, v8s whatever, they're all awesome!

I miss the old sound of f1 cars. You could hear it several miles away and, as you got closer to the tract, the sound would go right through your whole body, your ears would be ringing but, you'd end up with a huge smile on your face. It was so distinctive! Such a shame.
Refreshing to see the respect for each motorsport here on TH-cam. Usually its just trolls and flame wars. You don't have to watch some of the series but the sheer fact the motorsports are this popular is great.
Why so much hate? It's racing. Two guys that are both very good at what they do got a chance to experience something awesome. I wish more drivers did this. All the people arguing don't know shit about motor sports. It's about being able to get behind the wheel of anything and be good. If you people can't see that, you should think about getting a Prius.
I haven't watch a race in years but used to be a big F1 fan and loved NASCAR too. So disconnected from it i didn't heard about this. Thanls for posting. There's a little bickering among fans in the comments but not as bad as I expected. The two series are so different you can't really compare them as better or not. This is probably the best way to enjoy their difference. Thumbs up.
Lol. And the hosts act like Lewis Hamilton is a space alien who has never driven a stick shift or car that has the steering wheel on one side or the other with a roof.
Wow...if Lewis started racing in NASCAR, I'd start watching NASCAR, he's a natural talent in road courses and given his experience explains why he was faster then Tony. Lewis would totally dominate the road courses in NASCAR. A little disappointed Tony wasn't as fast as I was hoping in the F1 car but maybe it's cause it's expensive peach of machinery and he didn't want to take unnecessary risks which would explain why he didn't do donuts and Lewis did in the NASCAR (I don't call Nascar's Stock cars cause there's nothing stock about them)
You can't say "Lewis did in the NASCAR", because what you just said is "Lewis did in the National Association Stock Car Auto Racing". See why that doesn't make sense?
No, I just explained what you said, because THAT didn't make any sense. You said that Lewis was driving a NASCAR, but NASCAR is an acronym for National Association Stock Car Auto Racing. See how that doesn't make sense again?
Law19157 No I agree with you there. But it's more of a historical thing. When these races started in the 1900s they were called stock cars because they were the production cars of the time. As the sport progressed they just kept the historic name I guess.
Makes me laugh that posts like this always turn into a "mines bigger than yours " argument , Cant people just except this for what it is ? 2 World class drivers from different backgrounds having a bit of fun. As Lewis said they are both chasing the same end result. Grow up everyone from both side of the pond .. lives too short
*_NASCAR fanboys: we drive at higher speeds most of the time_* *_Formula 1 fanboys: we drive take corners better and faster, and accelerate way faster_* *_IndyCar fanboys: we're both_*
@@MaximoSirianidelCarril Indy is still using the DW12 chassis which is designed primarily for ovals, it's not going to get around road tracks nearly as well as a car specifically designed to do so. But with Indy doing more and more road races they are soon going to switch to a new chassis that should be much better at getting around road courses.
I really don't get it, why people hate on Nascar, although, I'm definitely not a fan myself of Nascar, but even if I dislike the sport, doesn't really mean I hate it. It's a motorsport and has lots of common things with every other motorsport, so why hating like an 8 year old kid when you can simply love it or just dislike it? I don't watch Nascar, but I've certainly watched one or another video of a race and I'm fascinated by how they manage to use every milimeter aswell to get ahead of another opponent as they do in for an example in F1. And how they keep themselves from flipping over (considering the low amount of downforce) is astonishing work too! You can't be a lazy, weak and not in shape person with no knowledge of motorsports at all and just jump into an Nascar car and do 10 laps like a pro driver you know...But sure, if you believe you can, then please do. I will sit back and enjoy watching you struggle to even make the car move an inch to begin with, then I will laugh my ass off while you slam into the wall and smash the whole car and injure yourself. Because you haters need a lesson, and that would be a perfect lesson for you.
As a huge F1 fan, I would love to see Lewis in Sprint Cup when his F1 days are done. He'd probably be the biggest thing to happen to NASCAR since Tim Richmond's pure talent came on the scene.
+AshtonColeman amen. nascar but with actual tracks and more grip would be fun. i could watch that. a north american working class GT without drs of course. since drs is stupid
Great video see we can all get along I'm impressed with how quickly both drivers adapted to their new cars they enjoyed and embraced the differences and so should we.
Is it just me that is really impressed they each beat each other's time? Okay, weather conditions are a significant factor but even so, they guys are among the best in the world at what they do... I never would have guessed that talent would have translated to another vehicle so well
F1 is interesting, but I'm more of a nascar fan, just because it has more action, and yet the reson I like f1 is because of the Monaco grand prix. also I learned more about f1 over two years. and yes before you ask. I miss the v10 sounds of f1 during 1998-2005, I was born in 2000 btw
+Oscar “the Aventador lp750 sv” Tobar Depends on what you consider action. Crashes, fist fights and burn outs vs way more spectacular single car crashes (literally the car disintegrating), comradery, burnouts and just high speed corners.
I growth up watching F1, but after a visit to relatives in Memphis Tenesse, I learned to love NASCAR. I think both are amazing, No need for comparison, both are way different, but both deserve respect by every racing fan.
Lewis drove the balls off that car. He would have to get a little "smoother" in a race or he would eat up the tires lol. It helped that the track dried out, stock cars are just not meant for wet conditions, they get very loose. He certainly had fun.
In F1, tyres are of concern just as NASCAR however, for this demonstration I'd say he 'loosened' up a bit for the viewers. F1 is to spandex as NASCAR is to a overcoat.
Why build a COTA when you have a perfect Watkins Glen for Formula 1? Such a shame. I'm glad I live relatively near Spa, the greatest racing track on the planet (don't be jelly Yankees) but Watkins Glen is truly a spectacular track. The Spa of the USA.
+I Am The Law The problem with Watkins Glen is that the cost of bring the track up to F1's standards would be astronomical. Plus I don't think the local area could physically handle the sheer numbers of F1 fans who would be there for a race weekend. Watkins Glen can handle up to about 40,000 max. Spa on the other hand can handle about double that.
+Andy L There's also the little fact that Watkins Glen is effectively owned by NASCAR, making it difficult to negotiate track dates with a series that is, if not their direct competitor, at least a neutral adversary. So it would not only be difficult to negotiate the dates, it would be even harder to get NASCAR to allow the modifications that would be needed for F1.
+Andy L Personally I think that a modified Laguna Seca would have been an even better option with the likely difficulties that they would have to address in dealing with NASCAR over use of Watkins Glen. Laguna Seca would likely have to be lengthened and some changes made to the run-off areas but that is a great track which deserves more use by a major series. In the end, though, COTA is an amazing and beautiful track in a great city like Austin that is growing more cosmopolitan by the year. And F1 is it's primary tenant, which counts for alot in that they effectively have first choice on track dates, events, and can order modifications made to the track whenever they choose. They would not have that at Watkins Glen.
I wouldn't say laughably. They are new to sport and yet leapt two veteran teams (Sauber and Manor) and a factory outfit (Renault). So I guess that's pretty good for a rookie season.
Anonnymouse Hacker what part was laughable. It was the 2nd best first season ever sir. Did you see the first race? Or any this year. They make it to q3 everytime. Have you ever even seen an f1 race. I bet you thought you sounded really cool but ask ANYONE who watches f1? Dumbass hacker wannabe lol dont hack me bro hahaha
mikosoft Wouldn't call Manor and Sauber veteran teams, they are both short on cash (Manor having folded before the beginning of 2017), and the Renault of that year being pretty much developped by the underfunded Lotus squad A good performence nevertheless, they're here to stay
I just think this is awesome. Clearly these are two people that have alot of respect for not only each other, but racing in general. Disapoint in the comments on this video though. Missed the point entirely.
It does irritate me when Americans act like "stick-shifting" is so difficult. Just because most cars in America are automatic doesn't mean that people in other countries who race with flappy-paddle gearboxes can't use them properly. I would even argue some are better, since in European countries, a large proportion of cars are manuals/stick-shifts.
We don't act like it's that difficult. They just have nothing else to talk about. It's like when that Malaysian airliner went down. CNN had nothing else to talk about for DAYS so they did a full spread on it and made it a bigger deal than it was. Context my friend.
Okay, here's the thing: We Americans don't act like stick shift is difficult (unless it's someone who doesn't know how to drive it, in which case I feel sorry for them). Also, your notion of "most American cars are automatic" is completely false. Furthermore, you appear to be comparing stick shift in a street car to stick shift in a race car, which is only similar in that you have a steering wheel, pedals, and a shifter. Beyond that it's completely different, so your comparison is thus rendered invalid.
***** Oh, believe me. There are a lot more manual cars than that in this area. Also, driving stick shift in a race car, I've heard, is actually extremely difficult until you get used to it.
***** I've only got first hand experience of a small number of cars in both the UK and the US, so keeping in mind I'm talking about an extremely small sample size: UK: All manuals US: All automatics That said, older Americans typically can drive stick, because that's what they learned how to drive in. Younger Americans, for the most part, seem to grow up driving automatics - I don't know how that translates to learning to drive a manual, since none of my friends or family have made that transition. As far as driving stick in a race car, I found it very tricky in racing simulators. Sequential stick is easier than non-sequential stick, but still a nuisance, since it takes one hand off the wheel to do it. I found that flappy paddles are much easier, due to keeping both hands on the wheel. I freely admit however, that simulation might not reflect reality in its entirety.
Such an awesome video, both amazing and seemingly humble drivers, and both very fun to watch. NASCAR is what got me into motorsports years ago, and F1 is what revived my love of it more recently. :D
Great video. Two gentlemen. No point arguing about who is best, they both drove well and the cars are very different. Hats off to Stewart as the transition to F1 must have been astonishing. Lewis could drive the wheels off anything.
+Noonecanknow879 The most prestigious race? Ever heard of Monaco? Or Le Mans? The Indy is like the Superbowl. Outside of the US, people generally really don't care. This all apart from the bashing-bullshit. Both are great, just look at the fans. But F1 has international support, also in the US. Nascar doesn't, because the organization didn't bring it to the rest of the world. I'm not sure if non-Americans would like Nascar. I think not, since the oval-racing really is an American thing. Indycar however, could make it. But the money simply isn't there. Also it's a fact that F1 is as sport (different from the amount of entertainment) is developed way more and further. Tony Stewart could never be a F1-driver with that physique. One would even argue about whether he's an athlete.
America's racing Super Bowl is the Daytona 500 in NASCAR, which has had races in Japan, a league in Canada, Mexico and in Europe. The Daytona 500 is also one of the biggest races in the world. But nothing can compare to Indy. And I've watched Le Mans and Monaco. I respect them, but they're not all that exciting. The final lap at Le Mans is at half-speed so its not exciting and Monaco is always won by multiple seconds. Indy has been decided by mere feet multiple times.
Noonecanknow879 You're right about everything. But that doesn't take away the fact that in Europe and Asia people don't care about Nascar. They do about Monaco and Le Mans. Heck, lots of Americans participate in Le Mans. Not sure why there are so few in F1, but they have been there and will keep coming and Americans certainly follow it.
***** I am a European and from my point of view it's not that we don't care,it's just that most of us,who watch F1,have followed it for years, some of us since we were kids,so we know what's going on,who is who,and drives what car where in case of nascar,we got no idea, the best we can get out of it is - bunch of Americans driving in circles,i am sure it's more than that once you get into it,but for us it's just that, since we never really have had it brought to us.
That's the same as not caring. When one doesn't care about something, it doesn't mean that that something is crap. It's just not something a decent group in Europe is into. When you read my other comments, you'll see that I share your opinion
I'm brand new to motorsports... went to an Indy race in Florida recently and really enjoyed it. I then did some research on Nascar, Indy and F1... watched a bunch of races, etc. So far I'm really enjoying F1 the most. In just a few months I'm no longer interested in Nascar, watch Indy if it's convenient, and record F1 races to watch multiple times. F1 is just freakin awesome, IMO, everything about it.
F1 and NASCAR, are note an argue subject. Both are great sports, great cars, and have theyr great drivers....legends. Different driving stilles need, but in the end, beeing there on the limit and getting the best out of you and your car is the only purpose.
I would like to point out a mistake the announcers made, NASCAR does in fact have suspension adjustment although much more rudimentary then in F1, there is holes in the rear window in which a wrench can be inserted during a pit stop to make track bar or spring wedge adjustments, also they will insert pieces of rubber into the springs to stiffen them up some, they didn't have this at the time but now NASCAR allows in-car adjustment of the track bar as well as brake bias, they can also manually control the cooling ducts for the brakes so that they can allow a certain tire to get hotter or cooler which will change the handling as well
I can’t believe how funny these announcers are together lmao just riffing off each other Genuinely impressed by both drivers and as a Lewis fan since 08 it’s wild to see how far he’s come.
+failtolawl ... if it makes you feel a bit better, of all the american car companies, Ford basically had F1 by the balls from 1967 to the early-80s with their Ford Cosworth DFV engine, which every team except Ferrari and a few others ran. 176 wins in F1 is nothing to sneeze at, that's for sure. GM and Chrysler never touched F1 except for a weird Chrysler-budgeted Lamborghini V12 in the early-90s that a few teams ran.
I think my favorite part here is when they're talking about how different the cars are and the NASCAR announcer says "someone even cranks the F1 car for you" and someone DIES laughing in the background.
I like these Crossovers between two different motor sports. We need more of this. Also I like both nascar and F1 and don't really understand the rively.
I really wish Jimmie and Alonso’s seat swap got this kind of coverage...
Agreed. Sadly with speed channel being gone, Racing doesn’t get the kind of coverage it use to have

only problem i have with nascar is the lenght of the races
butonline And the 100s of left turns..
Bob Barker I wonder why they don't make the right wheels a bit further forward in NASCAR so they can turn left better, like race horses.
well there adding road races each year or 5 so i think its safe to say there tired of just going left
I hope so, because nascar would add many more fans if there were some turning and skill involved.
The actual driving starts at 21:39

Renato Assis from that point, Tony doesnt want to race nascar anymore
Well, the 2008 McLaren is a stunning car.
Tony used to race 900hp CART cars, so he has some open wheel memories to compare against the McLaren.
@O R I agree. CART cars were fast on ovals and not pretty. Just pointing out Tony's open wheel days.
Any souped up cars would have been a thrill.... But the view from a modern F1 cockpit, I imagine it would feel like you are in a spaceship. The experience must have been otherworldly for that guy.
No matter if you're NASCAR or F1, we both lost legends. Ayrton Senna and Dale Earhardnt Sr.
Daniel Flores why? Safety. After their crashes, F1 got collapsible steering columns and NASCAR got the helmet retention systems and full face helmets
schumacher*
Senna was never against making changes to accommodate better safety. earnhardt was and that's why he's dead
Well, Dale Sr. once called the HANS device a noose. That sums up his logic.
We lost Niki Lauda also a few days ago.

😂😂
I do as well.
I think both series are amazing.
testing whats possible under FIA regulations, If they actually tested what was possible the driver would pass out in a corner
tony montana
Well woudn't that be the limit of what's possible with a human driver?
well no, because the driver would pass out in a corner and die. Cars like that will never be built because of the consequence of the conclusion
tony montana maybe hook the drivers up with the suit that the RAF use to solve that problem?!?
Lloyd Jones
But just because you don't pass out doesn't mean the constant g-force won't wear you down excessively.

Tony's smile while looking at the car at the end says it all...
It really is sad to read the comments and see how terrible some F1 fans can be. So to those NASCAR fans reading this, we aren't all cocky insecure little shits, some of us just enjoy F1 racing for the love of motorsport and hold a respect for each and every variation of it.
As a fan of neither sport, I can safely say that you guys are equally annoying.
Well there's just as much nascar fans saying shit about f1.
NASCAR IS SHIT
The NASCAR fans would be the dicks if Tony came out as the superior driver
i know right its so annoying can you just show some respect on what each sport has for itself.
We need more people like you

I love all forms of auto racing. It’s not that changes that the sports make that’s hurting them. It’s the fans that can’t accept that every Motorsport is challenging and each in different ways. The fans that think that the one they watch is “superior” to others are hurting the sport or just don’t like the changes being made. Shut up. Sit back. Relax and just enjoy it
I think it is the other way around f1 fans usually talk shit about nascar fans

Pedro Dorantes he was being precise necause hes an F1 driver, its his instinct to be precise because he has to
@@pedrodorantes3527 You should see how close F1 drivers drive to the walls on street circuits - if they can get 0.01 seconds off their lap time by almost touching the wall, they will do it every lap. In some races, the F1 team may even leave some parts of the car unpainted to reduce weight because the competition is so hard.
"I'm impressed with the way Lewis is adapting to that stick shift, formula1 drivers aren't used to that..."
in europe everyone knows how to drive a manual gearbox. Even my mom can do that...
+coawler oz
Haha, yeah - it is funny to hear that.
WaffleNinja88
Not sure I agree with you there.
I love how respectful they both were towards each other and their sport.. unlike the fanbase
As a Brit, thank you so much for posting this. Always interesting to see how motor sport drivers handle race cars different to their own, and also hearing the different terminology used. Jeff Gordon and JPM did this at Indy.
Nick Thompson tbh its kinda boring to watch on tv until a crash, gotta go see it in person

For your 2nd point, Race of Champion is kinda like that, minus the tracks.

The real "pro" here has raced about everything with 4 wheels at one time or another. So there's no need for "mutual respect" from him.
***** F1 is All about driving as slow as you can? Did not know that.

Lewis would totally dominate the road courses in NASCAR. Lewis drove the balls off that car. He would have to get a little "smoother" in a race or he would eat up the tires lol. It helped that the track dried out, stock cars are just not meant for wet conditions, they get very loose. He certainly had fun.
Haha yeah, that's Lewis' typical driving style - harps back to his karting days I guess. :)
In F1, tyres are of concern just as NASCAR however, for this demonstration I'd say he 'loosened' up a bit for the viewers.

This seems like such an awesome feelgood event for everyone involved, including commentators and fans. So much joy, love and respect for each other.
Great show. Both drivers were excellent. I liked the excitement from both of them when they got out the cars.
I miss the speed channel they always had great coverage like this
Awesome: Nascar drivers and formula one drivers should do these things more often.
Why? F1 fans are really not too keen on NASCAR, most don't know it exists.
Agreed!!
Looks like the Nascar car has the same speed like the safety cars in F1.
Oh! Another fanboy! Nothing to see here guys, move along, just another idiot.
+Radu Matei lol u mad bro?
+Vikrant Jaiswal No, i'm just normal and don't like worthless idiots like you and this guy...pathetic
+Vikrant Jaiswal how old are you, using memes and shit?
+Radu Matei triggered NASCAR fanboy
Interestingly, HAAS now runs an F1 team as well.
hell yeah! Team Haas all fuckin day F1 and Nascar
Dumbass hacker wannabe lol dont hack me bro hahaha
mikosoft Wouldn't call Manor and Sauber veteran teams, they are both short on cash (Manor having folded before the beginning of 2017), and the Renault of that year being pretty much developped by the underfunded Lotus squad
A good performence nevertheless, they're here to stay
that guy Scuderia engine is the only reason why they are competetive.
I enjoyed this actually! Thank you for the upload. Both cars great in their own right.
I just think this is awesome. Clearly these are two people that have alot of respect for not only each other, but racing in general.
Disapoint in the comments on this video though. Missed the point entirely.
Both humble guys. That's the best thing in this video.
Love the sound Nascar cars make! Great to see our Lewis in one too! Would happily watch him in Nascar :)
TURN BACK NOW, STAY WITH THE RESPECT THAT THE VIDEO HAS!!! THE COMMENTS ARE SO CANCEROUS, YOU WILL NEED CHEMOTHERAPY!!!!!
lol
It does irritate me when Americans act like "stick-shifting" is so difficult. Just because most cars in America are automatic doesn't mean that people in other countries who race with flappy-paddle gearboxes can't use them properly. I would even argue some are better, since in European countries, a large proportion of cars are manuals/stick-shifts.
As it turns out most of you Europeans can't use it on a track :P
*****
Oh, believe me. There are a lot more manual cars than that in this area. Also, driving stick shift in a race car, I've heard, is actually extremely difficult until you get used to it.
*****
I've only got first hand experience of a small number of cars in both the UK and the US, so keeping in mind I'm talking about an extremely small sample size:
UK: All manuals
US: All automatics
That said, older Americans typically can drive stick, because that's what they learned how to drive in.
F1 drivers🤝Nascar drivers
F1 fans🤬⚔️Nascar fans
More like F1 fans needlessly attacking nascar and it’s fans, while most nascar fans don’t care about F1
Great video. Two gentlemen. No point arguing about who is best, they both drove well and the cars are very different. Hats off to Stewart as the transition to F1 must have been astonishing. Lewis could drive the wheels off anything.
You know, there aren´t fat drivers at F1.
Replace Danica with Hamilton in the 10 next year!
tylor it probably would change to a nice 44 haha.
This is sooo dope🔥 the best racers in different disciplines should do cross overs more often! 27:46 GOAT move😂
They both did amazingly.
I think that F1 and WRC would be a much more appropriate comparison
nah, indy and f1
Indy and F1 has already been compared.
Shak MoobLivion ahhh ok
Shak MoobLivion maybe aussie v8 racing NASCAR?
That would be interesting actually

I am a European and from my point of view it's not that we don't care,it's just that most of us,who watch F1,have followed it for years, some of us since we were kids,so we know what's going on,who is who,and drives what car where in case of nascar,we got no idea, the best we can get out of it is - bunch of Americans driving in circles,i am sure it's more than that once you get into it,but for us it's just that, since we never really have had it brought to us.
That's the same as not caring. When one doesn't care about something, it doesn't mean that that something is crap. It's just not something a decent group in Europe is into. When you read my other comments, you'll see that I share your opinion
*****
Lol you just listed the three races that one needs to win to achieve the unofficial Triple Crown of Motorsports!
Formula 1 is a fascinating sport.
Are you still saying that now? If anything Indycar is the best
The last good Mclaren
Till 2021
Stick them in to a podcast studio for 24 hours after that run. Imagine how cool it would be to listen them share their thoughts.
F1 and NASCAR, are note an argue subject. Both are great sports, great cars, and have theyr great drivers....legends. Different driving stilles need, but in the end, beeing there on the limit and getting the best out of you and your car is the only purpose.
I would like to point out a mistake the announcers made, NASCAR does in fact have suspension adjustment although much more rudimentary then in F1, there is holes in the rear window in which a wrench can be inserted during a pit stop to make track bar or spring wedge adjustments, also they will insert pieces of rubber into the springs to stiffen them up some, they didn't have this at the time but now NASCAR allows in-car adjustment of the track bar as well as brake bias, they can also manually control the cooling ducts for the brakes so that they can allow a certain tire to get hotter or cooler which will change the handling as well
thats new this season. they didnt have it 2011
sstroh08 SPRING WEDGE?? What is this shit...fucking conestoga wagons?
+sstroh08 they were talking about adjustments that can be made from inside the car by the driver during the race.
27:32 - 27:43 Now Kubica can use stick-shift thx to rally
I can’t believe how funny these announcers are together lmao just riffing off each other
Genuinely impressed by both drivers and as a Lewis fan since 08 it’s wild to see how far he’s come.
I wanna see a Ford team in F1 so bad.
+failtolawl It will be made in a shed, use a shelby engine and win first second and third
+failtolawl I would too but now you finally have an american team so i guess thats good :)
+failtolawl or Dodge, the only good Ford driver i know is Carl Edwards.
EDIT: Former Dodge team since Dodge is no longer in Nascar.
+Rejean LeBlanc Well it was a Cosworth engine, that was bankrolled by Ford
One thing i learned from this is these guys are amazing race car drivers
I think my favorite part here is when they're talking about how different the cars are and the NASCAR announcer says "someone even cranks the F1 car for you" and someone DIES laughing in the background.
I like these Crossovers between two different motor sports. We need more of this. Also I like both nascar and F1 and don't really understand the rively.
