I agree. I think that dress looked the best on you. I really like the style arc on u too but it seemed quite big around the middle? It looked fantastic as a duster jacket.
The green vintage-y dress is a very flattering style on you. The dress length is just perfect for you, and the darker waist band is flattering as well.
I love all of your makes especially your linen duster dress from Style Arc. This dress would look wonderful with an "Obi Belt" if you wanted to cinch it in at the waist. Thank you for all of your makes and your mini fashion show. Wishing you and your family well Whitney. Take good care.
Omgosh, I’m so excited to find you again.I’ve been looking for a seamstress with my body type and while I’m much older and somewhat heavier we are close. Short, big bust and we even have similar haircuts and color. I haven’t sewn for myself in years and I’m ready to change up my style a bit. Didn’t know where to start but now I do. Thank you, stay healthy and keep stitching.
I think the Monty shirt dress would be an incredible bathing suit cover, too! Time to start thinking about summer sewing plans for me (I’m slow) and I think this has to be on my to-do list for our annual trip to the Ocean City boardwalk.
Your color palete is sure making a difference! Love the olive green dress. The look is great. Being able to use a shirt dress as a duster is génius! Love it. You are putting me to shame, girl! Lol these make you look slim!
Love your dresses Whitney! They all look beautiful on you - especially your green "Tea" dress. Your idea about using shirt dresses for dusters (or as Trinny Goodall calls them "gilets") sent my imagination on fire :) I'm definitely taking you up on that inspiration! I'm working on the pattern, Town & Country (the camp blouse) by Louise M. Cutting in a nice Cotton & Steel cotton which is already looking QUITE long. I'm loving this pattern however, and her instructions are always so good. I did an FBA so this one is a sort of practice run but I'm sure it will turn into a "wearable muslin" . Looking at your linen shirt dress through the lens as a duster made me realize I may have just the pattern for that too. I hope you and your family are managing okay these days. You're being so kind making up all these inspiring and uplifting videos for us to watch in between sewing binges :)
Thank you! I was so pleased with the final “tea dress.” Now I just need a reason to wear it out of the house! Yes, to the shirt dresses as dusters! It opens up a whole other level of styling options!
Whitney you got you some cute kids. Loved seeing your daughter. That long curly blonde hair is gorgeous. I love the clothes you made her they were precious. I live in New Orleans so it’s as hot as ever here. I’m making some of your t-shirt patterns. They’ll be perfect for summer here. Your module of clothes are just lovely. I’m Autumn so green is great for me
TomKat Stitchery indeed an Autumn. I got my colors done. Every time I make something in my colors people complement me. I love staying in my palette. Stay safe enjoy your beautiful family. Kris
Whitney, I have really enjoyed all your videos during this “shelter at home” time. Like you, sewing is my therapy! My mother taught me to sew when I was 8 and have been sewing most of my life-garments, home decor, quilts. I started a new quilt in January and have been watching all your vlogs while quilting it. Finished it last night. It’s time to start on some summer garments. I have really learned a lot from you. Most of my learning has been on my own. The internet has opened a whole new way to learn. I would love to have you teach some tailoring techniques along with correct pressing skills. Blessing to you and thanks for brightening my day in this crazy season. 😊
LOL I noticed the wonky pockets but I thought hey, if it's only for dog walks make it work and save the hassle from taking it off and re-positioning it! I really want to see the See & Sew pattern done up, I have that pattern and multiple pieces of fabric to make it in. I vote for dress first! lol I think I have two favourites from this month, the Melrose dress/ duster as I could see you wearing it for kids sporting events with sandals or putting a belt on with it and wearing wedges for dressier events. The second being your dress with the colour splash, you light up when you wear it! Enjoy your first official day of Easter Break, time for some selfish sewing!
Wow! Lots of sewing Whitney! I love the green dress on you and that fleece fits you perfectly. Put those kids in the car and take a ride to nowhere on a nice sunny day, things are starting to bloom ( here by me in New York) don't know about by you. See you tomorrow and Stay Healthy! ❤
Things are blooming here as well! We’ve been taking really long walks everyday, but it just dawned on me that since my husband and I only get in the car to do the grocery shopping that they haven’t been in one since mid-March 😂.
Hi Whitney, thanks for this roundup. You amaze me how much you get done, seriously! I am enjoying working from home because I have two big screens to work on, don't ask...accounting, anyway, I can place you in the corner of my one screen and listen and take a peak now and then. Saving what I want to revisit, etc. Have a great day and thanks again.! BTW, I have purchased 2 patterns because of your t-shirt week, hee hee
Love all the outfits. Colours fantastic. Being very positive this week made some silk kaftans for holiday (garden if necessary). All handwashed well except for the paint brush effect chiifon, the effect seem to dissolve in water lol. Made it up anyway turned out well even though it grew 4 inches on the bias sleeve. Tee shirt week was fabulous.
Everything is so wonderful! The linen dress and the New Look dress are fantastic. I was able to buy the New Look pattern, after being inspired by your dress! The very next day our fabric store boarded up their store. Take care.
Wow you accomplished so much and everything looks beautiful. I love the high waisted pants with the crop tops and your daughter looks amazing in them! I would like to see undies first but honestly I love whatever you do. Stay safe and can’t wait to see your plans video.
I am just amazed at all you get done!!! I love everything! Not wild about the army green dress on you cause it has no shape-I do like it styled as a duster tho! Great job!!
I loved this monthly recap! You are going to have plenty of items in your new colors, Yay! I realize you may be tired of knits, but I would prefer a Undie sew along, first just because undies are not a common thing sew, and pattern suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I also realize that others may want the wrap dress. Either way I will be happy to see you sew. 💕💃🏻👏🏼👏🏼
Love all your makes. The wrap dress would be great. I tried to the bust adjustment for a wrap top but didnt comeout right. Thank you for sharing all your makes very inspiring 🌸
Those were great makes! Please do the wrap dress first...I am waiting for elastic to come from China and it will probably be quite awhile. Plus that would give me time to get a new pattern. Thank you for keeping us company, Whitney!
I love your makes. Even with t-shirt week, I'm amazed at how much you got done! You're amazing, Whitney. An amazing mom and an amazing seamstress/sewer. I'd love to see how you would add width to the Wanted Tee. I love that square neck, but I'd never wear my clothes that tight. Though I'm losing weight, I don't think wearing clothing that tight would be flattering. My first inclination is just to make my regular size through the neck and shoulders, and then grade out to add extra width. Then, I think that it just can't be that easy.
It is definitely a fitted top! I could have easily graded out to the largest size when I was making this one to give me more room, or another option would be to just add this neckline to a different t-shirt pattern that you love. Another viewer was going to add this neckline to the Love Notions Classic Tee because that shirt has a nice amount of wearing ease throughout. I’m tempted to try that as well!
Love everything you made! I would prefer to see the underwear first, I've been intending to sew my own with all my jersey scraps but justd haven't gotten around to it!
I would like to see the undies since I have all these tshirt scraps! Also need sourcing, but then problems with locating elastic right now. There is still black picot elastic available on Amazon. No white or beige🤔
Morning Whitney, I bought the Somerset T Shirt from Maven Patterns and I think you would really like it. Fitted body with bateaux neckline and different sleeves. I made it with the bishop deep cuff sleeve. I love it. I will make it again but I think I will try finishing the neckline the way you did in the tutorial for t shirt week. The Itch to Stitch jeans look great on you and I loved the dress worn as the duster over them. I was actually going to ask you which jeans they were. Have a great day and stay safe. Val 🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️
love the roundup of all the items! just to let others and maybe you know the cuffs store Stoffbreite on Etsy does NOT ship to US. i didnt check every one but i checked about 10 different cuffs colors and none shipped here. Thank you very much for taking time to do these videos for us.
Really? That’s weird! I wonder if it’s become of the virus situation. I just ordered mine at the beginning of March. They might open back up after this has all calmed down.
Just another possibility... I make my belt loops longer. They still attach at the same place on the top of my waistband but they extend into the body of my jeans. I tried lengthening the loops and attaching them in their usual spot but when not wearing a belt it looked like teacup handles. LOL
With the “Wanted Tee” You said it runs small. Did you make adjustments and how did you do it? If not could you show us how to take a reg neck and put a square neck into it? Thanks! Happy Easter Week! 🥰🐣🐥
I made the Wanted Tee in the size it recommended, but ended up straightening up the side seam to give me more room in the mid section. My measurements put me in the second to largest size so her size range isn’t very extensive. I think you could definitely add that neckline to any t-shirt pattern by just over laying the Wanted over the other pattern!
I really enjoyed his video this morning with my coffee :) So many wonderful makes. I have the McCalls 6676 and was going to make view A but I LOVE your view C - I need a dress to go to a wedding in July (fingers crossed we are allowed to be in a group by then....) and I think it will be a winner. A comment on your video with your son's jacket - I noticed you did not measure for grain line when you cut out the pattern - MIND BLOWN - have you ever had an issue with something being off grain - or is eyeballing it always worked for you. Also, it was such an aha moment when you used a thrifted shirt to make a t-shirt. I loved how you did it - folding it in half - I don't know why I never thought of that. Do you use a similar method for a woven thrift shirt reuse? Maybe a video idea...? Thanks for keeping me company - I actually still have to go to work everyday - so it is nice to hang with you and your sewing each AM. Take care!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying this little impromptu series! I used to measure my grain line every time. I’ve just done it so much now they I can eyeball it. I will measure it every now and again (especially on slinkier fabric), but I find that I’m pretty spot on.
Whitney, when you talked about your jeans you said that you would like to lower the rise at center front only. How do you do this adjustment on paper? It's something that I also need to do, ideally I want/need to lower the front only around 1.5" while keeping all the length in the back. All tutorials I've seen either take out the same amount from both front and back and lower the complete rise, or they slash and overlap the front but only a smaller amount than I need. Any tips?
I will slash the front pattern at the lengthen and shorten line, but hinge it instead of cutting all the way through. I then lower the center front by the needed amount which takes a wedge out of the center front rise. The side seam will not be affected so the back can remain the same!
@@TomKatStitchery A follow up question to that, does it matter that the side seam then ends up having a quite extreme curve and do you match the side of your pocket bag to match it?
I would love to make a wrap front dress or top, but from observation I feel that the drop is too low for me. Is there anyway of raising a wrap front neckline or do you have a pattern which avoids the cleavage reveal?
Question: I would love to sew a boatneck T and love the Pamela's Pattern extension pack. Can it be used on other patterns? I hate to spend $26 floor the two patterns.
It could potentially be used on other patterns since it’s just templates. You may have differences between the pattern and the template in the upper chest area, but you could probably fudge that!

I love that multi colored linen dress!! So pretty and it’s such a flattering shape!
Thank you! I really love that one too!

Your work is just beautiful and I really enjoy seeing what you're making. Love that stack of jewel tone fabrics behind you :)
Thank you so much!
And your olive green sweat shirt came out well, too. Love that pattern. Good for You!
It’s a great slouchy sweatshirt pattern without looking slouchy!
The olive sweat shirt for your daughter cane out really cute. Good pattern!

I love them all but the dresses are my favorites. You are so talented.

What size did you cut out in the monte dress? What about the Brice jumpsuit?
I cut a size 10 in both

Fanny Standar if you taking out 1-1.5” out of the center front, the side seam should be fine. You will need to adjust your pocket bag.

Ok!
The ETSY Shop you linked for the knit cuffs do not ship to the US.
They did as of a few weeks ago. I’m assuming that they aren’t during the current virus situation. I would check back when this is all over!

Stitching down the breast pocket flaps on the green dress was a good call. Such cute makes!

Underwear!!!!
