So many beautiful women (and young ladies) in one family! You can see the love shared in your smiles. I, too, love the Namaste and very much appreciate the versatility of the pattern because sometimes a girl wants a gown and sometimes she wants a two-piece pajama set! And, it's not just a simple pattern with its cross-over detail! I think your makes for this Christmas were fantastic, Whitney! As I've said before, finding really nice knits is still a challenge for me and I ended up ordering from an Etsy shop and was very pleased with the quality of the fabric and the customer service of the shop owner.
Ooh! What’s the Esty shop you use? I’m also curious about good knit suppliers!
I first subscribed to your channel mostly because I love your ramblings (I mean that in a good way) and because I'm a local Indy sewist. Otherwise we are polar opposites in every physical way and most of what you make would never work for me at 6'3" in stature! However, I just discovered you have a sewalong for the closet case Carolyn pajamas. They are on my summer to do list. Now I'm super excited to watch you for personal reasons.
The Carolyn PJs are a great pattern! I’ve made that up a couple of times!
I’ve made both the Namaste and Caroline patterns. They are both great patterns. I tend to walk around my backyard in pjs, so nice ones are a must.
I do as well 😂. I’m constantly taking the dog outside in mine!
Love the generational photo!! It's so much fun to have a girls sleepover night!! Congrats on how they all turned out and all of the patterns look great!
Thank you! It was fun for us all to have matching jammies. The four year old about lost her mind she was so excited about it 😂.
the pic of you all in your namaste nighties is priceless- happy holiday!
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you as well!
Your son could outgrow pants while you are sewing!! Love the jammy choices.
Yes, he could! He’s always been my slower grower until this year 😳. I have no idea how we’re going to keep him clothed.
My grandson just turned 14, is 5’9” and weighs 120 something. Good thing joggers are In for Middle Schoolers - they have ties!
Karen Schafer right?!! When I met my husband he was (and is) 6’ tall, but only weighed 140 (he is no longer this 😂), so my son comes by it honestly, but thank goodness for the athletic pants!
Hi Whitney, I Love your family picture with all of you wearing your nightgowns! Great fabric choice, it looks soft and comfy and it doesn't look like it is just for wearing during Christmas. See ya soon, take care and God Bless.
Thank you! They are very snuggly nightgowns. It seems everyone is very happy with them!
I love the Namaste PJs. They are so flattering. Your Christmas PJs are so cute as well. I'm off to purchase the Namaste pattern right now. Thanks for the link!
My pleasure! It’s a really flattering pj set and it’s a fun sew!
sew much fun! Love all your pattern selections. Favorite is the Carolyn and the Namaste. Need to make these for sure in January. My son, his wife and 2 grands are coming for a visit in February so nice PJ's are in order. Thank you once again for the inspiration. My list is getting very long!
Those are both fantastic patterns. You can’t go wrong!
The cross-over detail in the Namaste pattern is a real winner!
Yes, it is!
My favorite big 4 pj pant pattern is Simplicity 8519 for guys and 8518 for gals. It has a fly with buttons in a hidden placket. So stinking cute! The best bang for the buck is that both patterns come with boys and mens patterns in one envelope! I am going to be making the namaste nightgown for me and my mom. It looks so cute. Thanks for the inspiration now- 6:30 a.m. here and I just walked into my sewing room better get sewing!
Those Simplicity patterns are good ones. I have both and my son made himself a pair of the boys pants last year. Happy sewing!
Hello! I am a huge fan of yours and completely enjoy you videos! I never post comments but I could not resist posting today on the ripping of the pajama top! Cracking up as I look at the monitor with my side eye! (Heehee)
😂 I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channel and that you left a comment today! It’s nice to meet you!
Love the namaste nightgowns Whitney. I’m definitely going to try out the pattern in the new year. Xx
Oh good! It’s a great pattern!
Love it. Fun fact the Liberty Tana Lawn Isle of wight print, features scenes from the Isle of Wight which is a small island off the south coast of England and is where I grew up 😁
That’s so lovely! I would LOVE to visit there one day!
Awesome pj's, I love pajamas
Thank you and, me too!
I have 4 pairs of lounge pants to finish before Christmas, I think it is doable but I need to FOCUS. Make that five...
You can do it!!
TomKat Stitchery thanks for your confidence. I made Christmas pillowcases for my three kids and my husband quite a few years ago. My two girls asked for new ones, and I realized the sweet young woman we heart-adopted never got one. Just finished two of three sets, so I think it is doable!
Love the family night gowns the best, but all great
Thank you!
I made two nightgowns(shortsleeved, v neck) a couple years ago with the doodles, and had the same problem, the neckline stretched out beyond belief. Washing did not help recovery, I was very disappointed because of the effort I put into them. I do like the Namaste pattern, very versatile. I may try again with some cotton/spandex or Lycra blend. I want to do a shortsleeved/short set for summer.
Love the family of pic of all the girls in their Nightgowns, Mom looks like the older sis!
Aww! She will love to hear that!
Awesome! Thanks for the pattern suggestions, and also your comments on Joann’s fabrics (which are easy to get)
My pleasure!
Love the pj's for your kids! I have 4 drawstring pj pants to sew for Christmas, wish me luck!
Hi Gidget 👋
Good luck! You can do it!
Love the Namistay pattern.
Me too! I can’t wait to make the separates!
Great video and advice!! No need to stress!! Life goes on...:+)
Have a great week!! ((hugs)) to Gidget!
It does go on! I often need to take my own advice! Have a good one as well!
Many thanks! 😎
Any ideas as to why pretty women's nightgowns have disappeared? Seems all available from any pattern company I've seen, are a couple nightshirt unisex looking plain (ugly) nightshirt patterns. I finally found an old pattern for a pretty long gown with lace on eBay. Is a pattern I previously had, but lost in our hurricane Harvey experience. I simply cannot abide wearing pants to bed, I get all twisted up in them. I do not understand why the only patterns being pushed these days are for pajamas. Don't quite understand how a tank and short shorts are called pajamas. Now, a different question, when you make a blouse or "pj's" from silk, how often do you have to send to the dry cleaner? Or have you found a way to wash silk successfully? Silk seems an expensive garment maintenance for day or night wear.
You’ve made me laugh with the bodice ripping story 😂😂😂a cautionary tale for us all 🤔🤣😂🤣love B 🐝xxx
Ps think namste pjs are so versatile 👍
It was an unfortunate event and I was super mad at him for ripping it 😂.
Hi Whitney, love your pjs, everyone looks great. What are the best fabrics to look for, to make pjs please ? Xx
For the Namate PJs I used a cotton/spandex knit (a rayon/spandex would have worked nicely as well). For woven PJs (like the Carolyn PJs) I would use any natural fibers such as cotton, cotton flannel, or even silk. I would stay away from anything with polyester in it because it doesn’t breathe and that could make for some sweaty sleeping conditions!
TomKat Stitchery Thankyou loads Whitney, I’m back into sewing after 30 years and loving it, also love your videos on here, I need to learn more about fabrics tho. Thankyou again xx
cath taylor someone asked if I would some tutorials throughout the year talking about different fabrics and I think that’s a great idea so stay tuned!
TomKat Stitchery Thankyou xx
Try Express for your son. They have smaller sizes. Love the pjs
That’s a great tip. Thank you!
Does the Carolyn pajamas pattern have cup sizing
It doesn’t.
No but it's very loose I have a large bust and have no issue with it.
"Weird aunt." 😂
I’m totally the weird aunt, but they seem to like me so I’m going with it 😂.
My 14yo grandson is 6'3" with a 26" waist, and finding jeans for him is IMPOSSIBLE! We buy him a lot of belts.
Whoa! I can’t imagine fitting that 😂. I bet you do use a lot of belts!
For pjs trousers for your son why not draft a pattern for him? I had to do this for my son in law who’s 6foot 3inches tall and very very slim. It didn’t take me long at all really. He can’t buy anything with leg length anywhere near long enough.
I can definitely do that. The real problem is jeans, which I can definitely make, but he’s growing so fast I hate to take the time 😂. What to do!
My son was the same way when he was that age. SIGH. He had to wear a lot of belts. Before you know it, he'll be grown up and huge. It all goes so fast, right?
It does go fast. Yay for belts!

Sooo! Sewww! Cool! You are spoiling all the girls in your life. But they ask as a way to say thank you. You can sew pjs any time. I want to sew a nightgown in Butterick pattern#5719.a lovely gown and pant pattern for pjs. This is a sewing pattern I ment to make for a summer gown in a pink knit. Merry Christmas from Carthage Missouri! About 4hrs form Kansas City.
You’re from Carthage?!!!! My aunt and uncle live there!!!
We are Neighbors! You relate to me with the show me state living! Friends AnnaMarie
My husband and I lived in Mishawaka In 2005 and 2006. Lots my Husband to CANCER in 2008 and had to come home to Mo. I’ve remarried and see a lot.
Sew sewing seaming! I’m Sewing Secrets and Alterations!
My 18 year old son has a 32in inseam and a 25 inch waist.... good thing he has no interest in wearing anything but mom made pants or I'd be in big trouble... hilariously my 9 year old son has a 26 inch waist lol
Whoa! Good thing he has a mom that can sew! My son is a 26” waist with currently a 29” inseam. He may be destined to wear mom made pants as well!
TomKat Stitchery thankfully he's happy wearing simple two seam fleece pants because that's all I'm good at sewing lol
The doodles shrinks a ton - cold water and air dry instructions on the bolt is not kidding. I use it for my six year olds momma makes, but it’s always a struggle with my hubby to remind him NOT to put stuff in the dryer. Super cute though :)
I noticed that when it went through the first wash! Glad I bought extra!
I did wash and dry fabric before making pjs. You’re right, Doodle fabric does shrink a lot. Do you think they will shrink more. I’ve already sewed them up for 6 kids
yvonne trujillo if you can air dry, they do tend to loose shaping over time. My son is in a growing stage where he outgrows things pretty consistently so it’s not as big a deal but it is a more affordable fabric than say an Art Gallery or some other name brand, so we kinda get what we pay for. Good luck!

I have been looking for some pretty nightgown patterns. I sleep I a couple of ready to wear nightgowns that desperately need to be retired. I’m not sure why there aren’t more gowns!
I wash all my silk in the washing machine before I sew with it (if it’s delicate, like a chiffon, it gets put inside a laundry bag). I then air dry it and then I wash all my silk garments in the machine from that point on. They are all air dried and I have never had an issue. The washing changes the hand of a few silk types a bit, but it’s worth it to me for the garment to be washable.
@@TomKatStitchery Thanks so much for the washing of silk info. I've been afraid to do that for fear of ruining it, so just hadn't gotten any.
Anne in STX Harrison I have a ready to wear silk gown, I a.ways just washed and dried it normally. Over time it looks a little less lovely, but it is still super soft! I had a beautiful nightgown pattern, I can’t imagine I got rid of it but I can’t find it. I make fleece pj pants and shorts for my kids, I agree on pj pants, I rarely make it through the night in them.
Anne in STX Harrison no problem!
