That’s not a banana. It’s a ripped plantain. It’s all over tropical/subtropical climates like, Africa, the Caribbean, Hawaii, many other parts of the American continent and all around the world. The flavor is sweet. In Puerto Rico we use it for Amarillos (fried ripped plantain, bifongo (a mofongo that contains sweet plantain) and many others applications.

You can't call everything which is circular and contains flour a pizza. Pizza is wheat flour dough + mozzarella and tomato sauce, while this Zanzibar thing is a damn chapati, a completely different dough, with whatever on top. Don't get me wrong, that looks extremely good, but it's not a damn pizza.

To be fair, this is more of a variation of the Paratha from India. He even used Chapati, which is basically a Paratha without any fillings.
I call it a variation because his method seemed a little different than traditional Parathas as the dough seemed more watery. In any case, the Zanzibar pizza looked downright tempting!

In my opinion there is a big misunderstanding about the idea that Italians have of food. As an Italian, I don't need an invitation to open my mind about Zanzibar pizza, simply because I know that if a food is prepared with care and love, choosing local products, and cooking on the spot, the result will surely be good. The problem is that we Italians give food meanings that go beyond simple nourishment (I don't think we are the only ones, anyway): for us food is linked to family, socialization and hospitality, so if one reinterprets the pizza is fine (although he might call it chapati), if he tells me mine sucks compared to yours, well that's a little offensive.
Exactly Italians took noodles and called it spaghetti and made it famous, we all here because we love good food and meeting good hearted ppl, love from South Africa
