      @Tony Daza New Yorkers speak to you how they really feel, they don't go for that surface-only politeness which people have had in suburban communities away from the East Coast since they consider it insincere and annoying. However, that cordiality is fading now in other parts of the US and people are in general becoming more rude everywhere. There used to be a real difference between NYers and Americans elsewhere, and the crime and hostility which was once much more prominent in NY is now in major cities all throughout the US. NY doesn't even have the highest violent crime rate in the US now, some cities are worse.

    True fact: the guy who wrote the book (and movie) wiseguy, his wife wrote this screenplay. • @alvexok5523
      @alvexok5523 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, his character and looks in this movie were very different from his usual white haired characters he's played in other movies as a modest honest suburban husband. It was a change seeing him as a dark haired crafty scheming rude New Yorker part of the mob and with a NY Italian American family.
      This movie, particularly this scene, displays civilized Suburban Americans as being super friendly but also super ignorant and dumb as bricks. Those supermarket workers, one of them thought that Vinnie was leaving right after being right behind him as he was walking towards and through the doorway, another one almost never had seen a $100 bill before, and cannot tell that the price of those steaks were tampered with. Anyone with half a brain would immediately notice something wrong after running 10 or 12 strip or t-bone steaks through the scanner, as well as other items he got, and seeing the total price come to $12

    Luv this classic. Partly cuz I'm a San Diego boy born and raised. Funny true story about the Del Coronado Hotel. I grew up on Point Loma. When I was a kid I was in the YMCA Indian Guides. It was a father son type thing with different "tribes" around San Diego and we did stuff like crafts and camping events. Tribes met weekly at one of our homes talked and had refreshments. In my group Larry Lawrence and son were members. Larry Lawrence owned the Del Coronado back then. One time he setup a beach campout on the beach directly in front of the Del Coronado Hotel. He closed the beach just for our tribe of kids to camp and be festive. And we got to use the hotel's pool! We all slept in tents on the sand. It was pretty cool time circa 1966. Great memory too with my Dad.
    Btw the Del Coronado was also in the movie Some Like it Hot with Marilyn Monroe circa 1958.

    The reason I come to this video is because we are watching the Super Bowl comercial with Steve Martin and she tell me when she use too work in Williams Bros grocery store in San Luis Obispo,she actually watch the filming of this Scene,probably in the 80s.

    Rewatched this after remembering how much my mom used to love the movie. I remembered almost nothing about it cuz I hadn't seen it since I was like 12. It's a PG-13 movie about a mobster, so the burning question I had going in was "where are they going to drop their f-bomb? they only get ONE so they have to make it count!"
    "Have a nice day!" "Fuck you!" *MAGNIFICENT.*

    0:42 According to my mother my father would switch price tags like this. Except he would peel them and have them on the tips of his fingers. So for him the price was always right. This scene always reminds me of her telling me that. LoL

      @@richardlacey4923 Yes, Many decades ago switching tags were one way. The bigger and better way was to buy a good sized hamper, preferably one that came in a box. Put that in the shopping cart... on checkout make sure the price tag was on the top and near enough to the checkout person to see.... so no need to lift it out of the cart. The hamper (box) could fit a lot of stuff!
