I went to High school with Tyler. Fantastic guy and highly talented. He’s one of my best friends. Glad he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves! Credit where credit is due, he’s earned it! Way to go, Ty!

I feel like if I ever swung a sword at a dude and it bounced off his chest -- i'd probably just give up at that point, "we tried, we failed, time to move on"
I’ve got a feeling it was for a re-shoot. I notice little things in this show all the time but it’s like all cable TV shows. If the real thing wasn’t crazy enough in the producers mind then they’ll fake it.

I feel like they put the winning weapons in a hall of victors room where you can go inside and they would be in a special case stating what season/episode it won and who made it
I think someone explained they (the smiths) can't keep them cause they count as illegal weapons, hence why they have to surrender them to the show. And the winner's weapons are displayed somewhere in the compound
@@gooseyjuicey Tell that to the US government. And the people who harp about rights to own a gun. I just finished binge watching the competition. Worst part is that I don't have a sword to go chop pig carcasses with as I mutter "It will keel". For that matter, I don't have a pig carcass either. Guess I'll go make some bacon and mutter "It will cook".
One thing I don’t get is how do we go from medieval times were we have knights wearing full iron armor to men wearing not even a helmet. You would think they would spend some money into making body armor during this time.
not an expert of anything, but after all these episodes, why someone still make a round handle? if i have learnt anything from these shows, round handle is a big nono
@Flyingshark111 It was one episode for each branch, and the winner from each branch competed in the fifth episode. The former sailor and airman lost in the first 2 rounds.
Hey, i have a unrelated question. Is it possible to combine Damascus and canister steel? Like maybe layer a couple of layers of regular Damascus with the rest being filler. And if so, i wonder how that would look. Maybe even do a jelly roll Damascus out of it. Anyways, great show. Been watching this for a few years now.

Who else is binge watching these clips on TH-cam?
Lol
I call it a click-a-thon.
Binge watchin cuz I like to see if they will keel!
Perú Here, binged AF

You can see the look on Gene's face after Doug laid it down for him after the keel test...he knew he had already lost.

you can tell how proud/ excited doug is by how much he says keel instead of kill and how long he drags it out.
They put a lot of effort in designing the sword...atleast show it to the viewers for some time
just watch it on History channel
No we want more Doug and it will keeel time
I want outtakes where doug is just flexing with the swords.
@@Quillyik lol with added "It will keeel" every so often i assume??
Once you start watching this. you cant stop
These guys feel like the weapons they create, beautifully and efficiently violent yet never to see the days of glory as they once had.
Yes, It will keel, you say it's worth $20,000? I'm taking a huge risk here, let me call a buddy of mine who worked under George Washington.
nice one
I know that reference
Haha
The best I can do is 40,000 , I am taking all the risk here Madam
Come when you changed your mind madam
He’s swinging an entirely different sword at 7:56
Lol yikes
wow wtf
yes its true but all the hits were made with the right sword i think it was just for visual tbh wich i hope cause this thing is awesome :P

Haha that’s funny when competitor Tyler sneaks up a drink before giving his answer.
The gentleman doing the ice block chop always gets hurt during his strength test.

Love This show.. I Love seeing pretty, shiny blades that actually are useable and tough..not just decors

Give the man who set that still as the thumbnail a raise.
Tyler’s sword is the prettiest sword I’ve ever seen.
The sportsmanship is high level, all of these men take the L like a boss!

When Doug says it is heavy, the SOP should be that the contestant should say, aight imma head out. Respect to the other dude, he lost like a winner.
It will keel. That’s my favorite part
A butter knife will "keel" if you stab with it hard enough.
I saw a blade break against the gel dummy
I knew this one was going to be good when I heard Damascus 4 times in the first minute
"Your weapon... . will cut."
Who else only comes here for the dummy and the blood and others?

Overall sir it will kill.. man he's awesome

Think they would have used Red Coats as this is Washington's sword.
The hessians didnt wear redcoats, and I believe they're simulating hessians so yeah.
Or they went with what ever was cheapest.
When a smith makes a sword too top heavy for Doug, it certainly will keeel
I’ve never heard Doug out of breath
It amazes me how many bladesmiths continue to make round handles that easily twist...did they not watch this show before?

right when the handle problem came I was like.... he lost.

Should've known the handle needs to be form fitted
I feel like they should be able to keep their sword afterwards

No pigs were harmed in the making of this series.
Tyler gave my metals class a tour of the place he works at.
Almost every time I know who wins with the 1st test. Unless one of them breaks I always know by test 1. lol
Pretty easy - if they call a sword "heavy" , it's just not winning unless the other one breaks.
I still think it's funny how it was only the army and marines who made it into the finals.
Tyler is mixing and folding steel, I don't see the others doing that?
