- With a Sunday afternoon victory, the Chicago White Sox secured a series win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Starting pitcher Michael Kopech earned the win, with 6.0 innings pitched.
The Reds struck first in the match-up, with Jonathan India homering on a fly ball in the first inning to put the Reds up, 1-0.
But the White Sox had plans to put the game away in the second inning. Luis Robert Jr. opened the inning with a walk. Hanser Alberto then cracked a ball into left center field for a 2-run homer and gave the White Sox the lead.
Yasmani Grandal and Elvis Andrus both hit singles to reach in the second, and Tim Anderson walked to load the bases. Andrew Benintendi hit a hard double into center field, scoring all three of the men on base and giving the Good Guys a 3-run lead.
Following Benintendi’s impressive hit, Andrew Vaughn tripled on a fly ball to right field scoring yet another run. Luis Robert Jr. returned to the plate for the second time in the inning, sending a sharp ground ball to the pitcher, Graham Ashcraft.
Alberto drew a walk in his next at-bat, and Grandal knocked a ground ball into the outfield for a RBI single. Gavin Sheets closed the second inning with his third home run of the year, giving the White Sox an 11-run lead.
The White Sox scored 11 runs in an inning for the first time since 9/17/2007 at Kansas City.
If that wasn’t enough, the team tacked on two more runs in the top of the third inning from back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles from Andrew Vaughn, Luis Robert Jr. and Hanser Alberto.
The team added 3 more runs in the fifth inning, with a sacrifice fly from Andrew Vaughn, another double from Hanser Alberto and a groundout RBI from Yasmani Grandal. By the end of the fifth inning the Good Guys were leading 17-4.
Hanser Alberto went 4-for-4 at the plate with a career high 4 RBI. Andrew Vaughn went 3-for-5 at the plate with 4 RBI and Luis Robert Jr. went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and 2 BB. Gavin Sheets rounded out the impressive offensive performance putting up a stat line of 2-for-5 with 3 RBI.
The trio of Jimmy Lambert, Keynan Middleton and Alex Colomé pitched the later innings, keeping the 13-run lead intact and securing a White Sox Victory.
The Chicago White Sox defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 17-4, at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

I'll take "things no one saw coming," for 1000, Alex.
If the Sox can score 11 runs in an inning every game, we'd be set 😂... Go Go White Sox!!!
This is what it’s all about❗️⚾️🖤✔️
Finally an impressive win hope this builds to a long winning streak and turn things around
D-jr-Don't give up your day job on that.
@@kevinmiller6380 hopeful they can turn it around but this team has been a rebuild disappointment which makes it even more tough when watching this team on TV
I missed out on the first five innings due to Cubs going to the 14th Inning (5th Overtime). Good thing I wanted to what they accomplished with 17 points.
Runs*
Would it be too much to ask for this kinda offense every game? Surely I don't expect 11 runs but the constant, situational hitting is brilliantly displayed in this outing!
Keynan has been solid
What a game! Great way to start our trip to KC
Great win
It’s so clear that Luis’s hamstring is not feeling good. Glad he’s swing the bat good rn but need him to be healthy.
Who gave our sox relief pitchers reds jerseys?
Awesome game!
Very impressive win for the Sox. They need more games like this. Still, force Jerry Reinsdorf to sell the team; he's not committed to winning.
Can we transfer some runs for tomorrow?
go sox
The White Sox are also better than the Reds

@@Dr._Kołaczki That's why they lost Saturday?
2outs n couldnt end it lmfao
Jerry should sell the team. He thinks 4th place isn't a failure.
What a horrible team. If they're as good as they say, they shoud be 10 games over .500, not 20 games under...
