Don't feel bad for shortcutting it's really fun to see people getting creative and treating maps as a puzzle. As long as you have fun our job as mappers has been fullfiled :D

Heck yeah, I'd feel the same if it were my map. I've only just started mapping in Trackmania, but when I was lost deep in the Mario Maker mines I was constantly hiding shortcuts, often requiring a high skill level to access. Trackmania is perfect for doing the same thing or even making an open-ended course with no intended path, just a focus on finding shortcuts.
honestly, as a beginner mapper, I like my maps being shortcutted. It shows me: 1. how to make better maps 2. that someone liked my map enough to hunt a shortcut 3. how creative the community can be

Can I just say, your take of "These cool routes would never be in more famous maps" is spot on. That shortcut vs non-shortcut map you played was amazing to watch and the fact that you're going in blind into an unplayed map makes it even more fun imo

I feel like the reason people are loving these videos are because most of the viewerbase is pretty new to the game or at least been watching for a while and haven’t played, it’s motivating knowing that they could make a map and have the chance of wirtual playing 🔥

The 2nd map's creator did a professional job shortcut-proofing it. Just some small, unobtrusive barriers that you won't even notice unless you're specifically trying to shortcut.
Watching your brain work to decipher shortcuts is awesome. I could watch just short cutting videos for hours. The reiteration and problem solving you do as you cut milliseconds is fun to watch.

As someone who plays a different racing game where you can make tracks and watch back other people’s times, I’m always thrilled when people shortcut my tracks/levels.
The mapper won't see anything (unless he sees the video). Since the map isn't uploaded to Nadeo services the mapper won't be able to see that anyone has played it.

I love watching you play an undiscovered map and see how you approach it. Really entertaining AND educational.
this kind of video is amazing, every unplayed map could be just sh*t or an undiscovered gem so the suspense is great. and then you trying to shortcut without knowing yet if the shortcut is actually faster at all, that is even more suspense. which is then resolved when you get a great run
definitely do more, this series is so fun especially with the shortcuts. And don't feel bad about those, I feel honored when players take their time to test the limits of my maps.

I love this concept, if I were a mapper I think I would be glad if people would try to push the map as much as possible, short cut or not, I think that's pretty cool! Also the first map was so cool, it felt like the ending had 3 diff paths yet they all were kinda the same path, would be very fun on a time attack server with ghosts on imo

I really love these videos. But Can I make a slight suggestion, Could you Everytime you do this again start out by revisiting the old tracks just to see if some people found crazy new things and so on? This would also motivate the community to really grind out these tracks with 0 plays.

I think Deep Dip 2 gave you that 23.5. That wall hit to slow down and turn to get the rear wheels to land the righty direction to get that cohort cut to be worth it was so smooth.
Racing line is literally easy when you remember that you're trying to drive the course as straight as possible :D that's what you're doing, all to carry as much speed as possible, while staying in control of your innertia :D

The next era of Wirtual content will be several hours long videos with audio of Wirtual talking about pyramids, with the video just being the green timer on a black background, and people everywhere will get great sleep listening to it, creating world peace.
You want to search help for this. I finally found GTLS (Green Timer Laser System) for my glasses to treat my GTS (Green Timer Syndrome). Now I have green timer every where and my life is so much easier.
Really enjoy this stuff. It's about showcasing your tactical brain and experience against these mappers and really you're only racing against yourself. Definitely lots more please.
That last oval map is solvable with 3 checkpoints, one on the quarter pipe jump centered, to force to go up and around, one right next to CP1 on the right road, and one in the middle of the sausage, this map would become uncuttable, and if you wanted to prevent a jump into finish from the pipe, you add a small checkpoint before the final jump ramp
27:58 So glad graffiti is getting appreciation instead of instantly thrown into the "garbage" category that people usually put it in. as a person who works hard to improve my style despite constant hatred, thank you wirtual :) except, i just want to say that Banksy is about as lazy as it gets, he just uses stencils which i cant get behind. i usually like graffiti thats words and lettering that takes time and a lot of effort, 30 second tags are okay but once it gets to throwies, pieces / straight letters, and wildstyles, thats where i really get into it. also r.i.p King Robbo (Banksy got him killed unfortunately)

I mean, I get why you feel bad, but you make the maps harder in a sense, because committing to the line you create is way harder than the 'intended' line. Sure some of the mappers might be like :O, but I'm sure most would rather have a laugh :'D

Someone found a really hard to pull of shortcut in one of my maps, saves 2 seconds but unbelievable hard to pull of clean.
