      Walmart Century Ride would be entertaining. Just make sure you can get an Uber that will pick you up with a bike. So, that you can return it to Walmart to get your money back.

      A Walmart bike should have no problems going a 100 miles, even a 1,000 miles, since he has no breaker and no shifters. All he has to do is check the bearings for grease and preload adjustment.

    i own a Tsunami ranger frameset. from what ive heard they are manufactured where cinellis and other big brands are made in china (or taiwan?).

    I've been doing some reading into cage bearing hubs and found it's common for bikepackers to drill the center of their hubs and tap in a "zerk fitting" so you grease from the center and force out dirt and old grease from the sides. Gonna keep an eye out for old wheels to try this out on a winter commute.

    Tsunami is actually a huge brand here in Singapore and its a 'good' and recommended bike for beginners.As for OTA,its also big and mostly a budget crankset for beginners too,i actually used to own one and from my experince,it isnt that bad,its reasonably stift and smoother then some cranksets that are well known,but its really heavy...climbing on the OTA crankset is a nightmare.

    It would be good to see how well a inexpensive Walmart bike. Something in the cost range of $50.00 to $100.00.
    And without any modifications of your own. Or you might try something in the $15.00 to $30.00 range from a yard sale or thrift shop.
    By the way, your videos are very inspirational !

    spoke length has little to no effect on "stiffness" or "liveliness". deeper rims are stronger than shallower rims due to how they distribute the crumpling force from the ground, and this makes the wheel durable and transmits bumps better. high flange rear hubs have higher torque stiffness than low flange because they give a longer lever arm on which the spokes act.

    I have had the same idea for a WalMart bike. This time of year, I’m knocking out ~150 miles/week. Could a sub $200 bike hang with me for 7 days? I’m tall; 204 pounds. I’m not slow (for a middle-aged Jewish lawyer, anyway),
    I may have to try that.

    Hate to say it, but if you know what your looking for then ALIEXPRESS cant be beaten. Search fixie on Aliexpress and a new world opens up. Calling Aliexpress sketchy only shows the lack of knowledge in cycling. I will go so far as to say most of the brands featured on this channel are coming from the exact same factories. You really should study this issue before commenting because Aliexpress has deals that are unreal and its sold over the entire world.

    A set of wheels such as hand-built Mavic open pros made with a high spoke count can be just as stiff as anything out there. The shape of the rim doesn't necessarily dictate the stiffness of the wheel. Also, if you want aero and lightweight, buy a good set of carbons. My 60mm carbons weigh 1200 grams for the wheelset and only cost $500 have done 6 seasons now and are still straight as a dye.

Two tire pops at 4000 miles or so.

  • @TheShotenZenjin
    @TheShotenZenjin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fixed and single speed riders should be aware that changing from 23mm to 28mm tires will increase your gear inches. For example, a 46:16 with 700/23mm will take you 74.5 inches per rotation, while a 700/28mm will take you 75.8...which basically means you’ll have to work a little bit harder to get your baby up that dang hill.
