Hi Tom, I have autism too and can relate to what you're going through - I also set alarms for things constantly, I also repeat myself to the point where it frustrates myself and others etc - the fact that you're so open about whats stressing you out and how autism affects you shows that you're not only physically strong but you're mentally strong too - you're the inspiration for why I lift :)
The alarms, noting down everything and repeating things until it's done are so relatable. It's not even like I forget things, or can't remember them, but it puts them out of my mind and instantly gives me a goal when there's a bit of downtime. Choices can take so much time, it's nice to just pick the first thing unless there's an appointment.

Guess what Tom. I’m here from the future and you’ve just won WSM 2021 and made a lot of people very proud. Your struggles today is what got you there :)
I was diagnosed last year as autistic, at the age of 40. Just before I was diagnosed, my then girlfriend left me. Taking our two children with her. She said, one of the reasons for leaving me, was that I didn't get a test quick enough (I had been waiting a year for one), and didn't get one sorted quick as I could. The last 10 months has been tough. You have been a beacon of what can be done, in order to succeed with this condition.
Don't beat yourself up over what she said. As a man, I understand that feeling of not wanting to get checked out because you just want to bear it all. You did the best you could and she failed you and your kids. I hope life gets better.
She's shallow. It's not your fault that you had to wait. As far as I'm concerned, that's a poor excuse to leave someone. You're better off without her. Now you can focus on yourself. You'll be good. I believe in you.
Great video big Tom... as a father of a 5 year old non verbal autistic son your insights into the world of autism really helps me have a better understanding of how you feel and what the world looks like. Another from wales, the plight of a man trying to understand and express whats going on in their head ... heartbreaking to hear but a joy to see you push through it. Big love.
Tom, A friend from Pennsylvania. I have Aspergers, I know the importance of a what set schedule means for someone on the spectrum. You are an inspiration and someone who shows the accomplishments someone can have even dealing with a debilitating disease. For some of your stature who makes it feel ok to be vulnerable means a lot to someone in similar circumstances. All love AJ
Wow that was so well said Tom. I've worked with adults and children with autism since 1998 and when you won #2 at WSM we put it at the top of our company's winter email flyer how awesome you are. You know what Tom don't let any accomplishments like you just had add any pressure that you have to meet sponsors or public obligations stress you, always speak up to anyone how you're feeling just like Eddie Hall does when he will say anything and we embrace him for it. So stay in front of how you're feeling by talking about it like you are now, no matter where you are even if you're on stage and WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!!
This video, Tom, is one of the main reasons why I love the Stoltman clan! You guys are the most real and genuine that I have ever seen! Sure you guys have a lot of fun, but you also show us that you are human and you have all the emotions and struggles that we have as well. Much respect, prayers, and love from my household to yours!
This man won World's strongest man June 20th 2021. Look at what he's overcome. He's strong of body, strong of will, and strong of Soul. You're an inspiration Tom.
Hi Tom, been a fan for a while. Just wanted to say I’ve noticed those sorts of behaviours creeping back in with myself: checking things, writing them down and rewriting them, struggling to prioritise and let stuff go. From what I understand it’s just a response to stress and disruption, which we’ve all had plenty of in the last year or two. I am confident things will settle down as the world becomes a bit more open again. You speaking out on autism will inspire a generation of people and make so many autistic children feel ok. I am tearing up a little as I write this. Best of luck with everything, Josh
You are an inspiration mate. I'm 43 and on medication for depression since my late teens. I've recently started losing control a bit if I'm honest! I've commented before on how you and your family help us so much! I work alone on 12hr nights sometimes 72 hrs consecutive nights and if it wasn't for you and the likes of loz and Liz, Brian, Eddie ect. Stay strong mate and big respect for doing this mate. Love you guys 😉
You need to give yourself grace Tom. My daughter has autism, and I struggle myself with depression after serving in the United States Military. You’re an amazing human being, thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your reality. Please go get some therapy to help you through all of this. Mental health is physical health big man! I can hear the stress in your voice and in your eyes. Try to calm down, and do something for yourself.
I bet the getting shut indoors with the lockdown is really tough, hope you'll find a way to relax and basically unplug you from your overclocked brain. All the best.
Lockdowns suck. All they do is stress people out. When you get stressed, close your eyes and think, pray to the Good LORD for comfort. All prayers to you Tom.
I also suffer from autism and this pandemic has completely ruined my routine affecting my physical health as well as my mental I look up to tom for being so open about having autism and trying to expose the ret of the world to it and also me as well as I don't know much about it even though I have had it all my life big love to Tom keep being you mate
Life has no blueprint Tom. You deal with your day the best you can. My son has autism and we deal with his day the best we can. You don't have to excuse yourself. You will probably be one of the best Strongmen to have ever lived and also one of the best spokespersons for Autism to have ever lived. You are already a spicy legend :)
Dear Tom, this is what strongman is all about, not only showing your incredible strenght, but also your human side. Big love and respect for you and your wife. From the Netherlands.
I think at the minute, everyone is struggling like mad with the lack of social interaction, and the feeling of isolation. Even living with our lass, having her amazing company, doesn't always help as much as you'd want it to - we're both struggling. Starring at the same 4 walls all the time, not being able to go out and have fun with mates, no gym... it's really taking it's toll. Massive respect for opening up pal, this is why I love the sport of strongman so much - gentle giants.
Tommy boy. Have encouraging visuals you can look to around the house to perpetually encourage you! Affirmation will work for you especially the validation of results... Eye on the prize and focus will keep you on the straight and narrow and you have 1000s of fans around the world and your family backing you. You're the man and inspire me and 1000s
Stay strong brother. Speaking up and getting things off your chest will help! You have the greatest community here called TH-cam. Use it to your advantage. We are all here to listen! Peace and love ❤️
Don’t ever feel like you’re a bother to the people that love you. Everyone can get stressed and be alittle snappy sometimes but those people will always love you & support you no matter what. Stay positive and lean on them for that love my friend. I lost only my brother last year and it has been an absolute nightmare. I think everyday about all the times I could’ve been there for him more. I would do anything to be alittle annoyed by my brother right now haha. Seeing you all loving each other always cheers me up. It will get better soon don’t worry you’ll get through this.
Hello Tom, I have Autism (Aspergers) and understand everything you have said about routines, OCD, also the need to tell people about my thoughts, even if they have already heard them or are not interested. My mind is always going at 100 MPH, I tend to think things will be worse, than they likely are. Theory of Mind means that people with Autism struggle to able to understand other's people's point of view, for example why wouldn't somebody want to hear about my favourite subjects, as they are so cool. I have found that simply saying to people, let me know (politely) if I am going on too much, about something, often people won't if you don't tell, as they don't want to be rude. With OCD, I tend to list things I have to do in order of importance, those things that aren't urgent, I try to ignore, until later. Using calenders / diary / project tools can be good, as you set reminders for certain dates, so you know which deadlines are getting close. I find that mindfulness meditation can help turn off the mind from all the bullshit going on around it, it does take quite a lot of practice, buts gets easy the more you do it. I don't like telling people in person that I have Autism, I was only diagnosed later on in life, so I find your openness an inspiration. Stay strong big man, you will be WSM one day.
Depression and anxiety destroyed my relationship and has basically ruined my life. I could never fully understand how it is to be autistic but hearing you speak about it helped me more than you could know Tom. Ty. I dropped down and did some push-ups after I was already about to sleep because seeing you continue being so strong makes me want to so the same! World's strongest man 2021 coming up! ❤
As a mentaly troubled man myself, i can only say how much respect i have for you Tom. You are one of the greatest inspirations out there! Keep being Who you are! Much love
He's tremendous, it's a funny old beast mental health and I've struggled all my life and finally got diagnosed in my mid forties and finally have a reasonable( but not always) grip on it . It's hard but having someone like Tom standing up and speaking up makes a hell of a difference. One thing that helps me is not being so hard on my self and by doing so I've stopped the circular thinking within reason. All the best 😎
I also have autism. I have thoughts that are not even my character, but i have these stupid things in my head. Im 49, and its better now, but still there. I also get upset, or anxious if my messages are not quickly answered. I feel what you are going through. Gym helps A LOT. Family and a few close, true friends help too.
Glad u came on here to speak on this Tom, just having outlets can be beneficial, just speaking your thoughts is important. Keep being great, much love!
Im from the uk im 23 I have Atypical Autism, ADHD , mental health issues, depression/anxiety, I lift weights and do boxing to help but when you battle with your own head everyday it’s hard but one day at a time is the only way forward
Aww Tom, just been watching you opening up about your Autism struggles being worse lately. I just wanted to send a big hug. We can often get my son out of a bad patch by turning everything to humour, laughing at the repeating and laughing each day at something. Know that the people close to you won’t be getting fed up if you, they love you and your quirks will be what makes them love you even more. Autism is part of what makes my son so enduring and it’s what will make you so enduring to them x
Honestly, Tom should be the poster boy for what is achievable whether you have mental health issues or not. Surely charities like National Autistic Society could use his example to great effect. I've never been diagnosed with any mental health issues but suffer from the same things most people seem to suffer with, from mild depression to severe procrastination. Tom is an inspiration to me because he suffers with his mental health more than I ever will but has still achieved far more than me in a shorter period of time. If Tom can do the things he can do, then really I have no excuse not to achieve at least something that I want to.
Keep smiling Tom...the stress will pass, so will the lockdown and you’ll get back on top of things. You’re right when you say you’ve got some amazing people around you! No matter how irritated or stressed Sinead, Luke, or Harry seem to get you can always count on em to be there for you. It makes a world of difference having people like that around. Lots of Respect to you big Tom🌶🌶🌶
Remember that when your closest family and associates get frustrated, it's not with you, it's frustration with what you're dealing with and wanting to be able to help with something that is very hard for others to help with. You've got a great support system around you and you are an inspiration to show those in similar situations what it possible regardless of challenges you're going through. I wish you all the best and continued health and happiness.
Literally and figuratively, a Giant of a man. Respect brother. And now we fast forward a few months and you are the world strongest man, from a troubled boy that wanted to hide away from the world to a national icon. Your mom would be so proud! Such a inspiration man. Much love from a Swedish Stoltman fan
I just want to thank you for being such an inspiration for young kids who have issues they struggle with. My son is not autistic but he has bad anger issues and gets super frustrated when he doesnt understand something or cant do something perfect right away. He also has a mind that never shuts down. He fixates on things he has to do or places we are going or people coming to the house when they will get there. He wakes up 2 and 3 times a night making sure he is still going to school or to baseball. Then I showed him your videos and said that Mr Tom has some of the same things happen to him in his mind and look at him! Look what he does! He was so excited he wanted to work out with me right away and become strong like Mr Tom!! You helped us make that connection and for that I thank u!! Keep your head up brotha and if u need anything dont hesitate to reach out!!
My husband and son are Aspie's. You remind me lots of my husband with your scheduling. Though our lockdowns are not as stringent in the US, watching them both cope has been tremendously hard. I just want to say, "Thank you for sharing your thoughts". It really helps me remember what I call the "invisible wheelchair ". I forget sometimes they are Aspie's because for me they seem normal most of the times because their autism is our normal. When they start reminding, asking the same thing over and over, etc., I can lose my patience. Thank you for reminding me to be more patient and more gracious. As an encouragement to you, this will end. We will come through this mess. You just keep training and being awesome. Thank you, again.
We love you Tom, we are always here to support you. I’ve struggled with mental health and I understand exactly what you are going through. Love you man ❤️❤️
As someone who was only diagnosed with mild autism in his mid 20s its good to here that I'm not the only person who compulsivly makes lists and alarms one of the things I do that I find helps is writing down on a book or diary what you are planning to do today and then when I have done a task I can cross it out. This makes me less impulsively keep checking with other people about my stuff to do i can just check my book and am like OK I have spoken to them they know we need to do something
Knowing u live round corner from me Tom gives me real hope an strength for my son who has autism, u help me realise that their is so much hope, remember when I 1st met u many years a go at the forge an u was the kindest heart in the room, stay strong brother.
It's times like these that I'm reminded of the movie Wizard of Oz. "A Heart Is Not Judged By How Much You Love But By How Much You Are Loved By Others." You sir, are loved by many, and that's all you ever need worry about.

Tom, I don’t think you give yourself enough credit for how articulate you are. You are clear in your message and it’s respected by all of us watching. What a fresh reminder that we are all human. You’ll get through it man.
Thanks for your honesty. Spring is coming and the dark winter is ending. I'm on the spectrum and I can confirm that the autistic mind can be both brilliant and exhausting. I've really hated lock down too... its a slow torture where my usual ways of resetting are limited.
Hi Tom. I work with grown-ups with Autism (Age 18-30) and i can tell you that they are all struggling more than usual right now due to so much isolation. Keep busy and get lots of fresh air, take lots of walks and do what you feel you need. Furthermore, dont set up to many appointments etc. try and just do what you feel like doing and dont stress. You got this friend. All the best to you and yours :)
Dear Tom my cousin has been autistic his entire life and although he's 70 now you can imagine how he struggled with it in his younger days when no one knew what it was ....but through drive and determination he made a good life for himself along with medicine .......so in the end never give up my friend God bless you

Dude. That level of self awareness is so rare. I hope getting this off your chest helps you feel a bit better. There's thousands of us rooting for you. And soon you'll be the reason Strongman explodes in Scotland. Remember when curling was popular because we were winning it?
Stay strong Tom! This pandemic is hard on all of us, even though I can't fully understand the effect it has on you I can imagine it is really tough. Hopefully in a not to distant future we can all be back somewhere close to normal. Reading all those comments and seeing what an inspiration you are to many people who struggle is just amazing! No matter who you are reading this, keep fighting and continue being strong. You are important, you matter and you have meaning. It is better for you to share and let things out than to bottle them in. Continue talking and sharing. People will listen. Smile. Be positive. Be strong. To the big man, thank you for sharing. You are an incredible talent, one of the top Strongman athletes to have ever competed. You're humble, funny and just an all-round top bloke. You'll get through this. Focus on worlds now. Stoltman Brothers on the podium. Get it. Peace.
You are doing the right thing :). Mental health issues should get much more attention and people should learning about it. It's really sad when I most likely have a few conditions myself and I hear people just throwing out insane statements on how people with X conditions are more or less "idiots" :(
I am 25 and have never commented on a youtube video before this. Tom, you are an inspiration to more people than you can imagine. You're a strong man with a strong heart. Putting this message out there takes inner strength and confidence and I just wanted to say I'm proud of you. Most people struggle with mental health issues from time to time and it is important to never forget that you aren't alone in the struggle. The world is better because leaders such as yourself share your challenges. We're all in this together. I wish you and Luke and all of your friends and family many blessings. Keep smiling and stay spicey! NT
Mental health is a pain in the arse, keep fighting on, I recognise and can relate to most of the things you are saying, as I’m going through the same as you stress and anxiety, not autism. You are an inspiration to more people than you think and we can only wish we could support you in other ways. Thank you for keeping it real 💪🏻🏴🙏👍🏻
Respect to you for sharing. Dealing with depression while lockdown is going on has been tough. My biggest release was helping others at the gym. I’m still able help others but not as frequently. Keep your head up sir.
Hello tom. I have Asperger's syndrome which plays a very big role in my life. I was diagnosed as a kid and stuggled alot. My mind was always thinking and it seemed like no matter what I did it kept going. I learned that meditation and the techniques can be very helpful. When I start to over think I take 10 min and apply meditation techniques. It has helped me alot and helps me sleep better. I enjoy watching you and your brother. Keep up the great work and know you're not alone. You have my full support. Win those titles and show the world how great you are. Be blessed to you and your family.

Your a damn angel in disguise...a big disguise lol...but an angel nonetheless brother. You, Luke, Harry...your wives and family/friends give all of us a moment in our days to live through you all and we thank you for that! Id rather be hit by a train then deal with some of my mental issues that come daily...but it is what it is, and like most of your comments say big guy..."tough times dont last, tough people do". Lets get it!!!!

@@olliegrizzly hey man, look into some personal development stuff. Actualized on TH-cam has a lot of advanced self development resources. I had some success in developing coping strategies with the help of that kind of content.
Helped me understand and appreciate my meditation practice more. Helped me see that we are all at different levels of development. I feel more self love than ever lol. Good luck to you man!!
Talking about this so openly, PROVES you are the world's strongest man. Big love
Tom... thank you. Don't know you, but am proud of you. Knowing your triggers, symptoms & supports is huge. 2 dear relatives have autism. 🙏
You are an absolute inspiration and make everyone in Scotland proud
And in Holland too Tommy. Hang in there brother there are better times on its way !!!!
And in England too! They’re great guys who wear their hearts on their sleeves! They’re my favourite strongmen.
And in Sweden mate
Respect tom
Hi Tom, been a fan for a while.
Just wanted to say I’ve noticed those sorts of behaviours creeping back in with myself: checking things, writing them down and rewriting them, struggling to prioritise and let stuff go.
From what I understand it’s just a response to stress and disruption, which we’ve all had plenty of in the last year or two.
I am confident things will settle down as the world becomes a bit more open again.
You speaking out on autism will inspire a generation of people and make so many autistic children feel ok.
I am tearing up a little as I write this.
Best of luck with everything,
Josh
I also suffer from autism and this pandemic has completely ruined my routine affecting my physical health as well as my mental
I look up to tom for being so open about having autism and trying to expose the ret of the world to it and also me as well as I don't know much about it even though I have had it all my life big love to Tom keep being you mate
Toms video is surely a small example of what is going on in society during these tyrannical lockdowns. We love you Tom.
Tom Your al Living Legend! You are So strong in every way! Remember that we all love you!
Hello Tom,
I have Autism (Aspergers) and understand everything you have said about routines, OCD, also the need to tell people about my thoughts, even if they have already heard them or are not interested.
Big fan from Brazil, we love you Tom and Luke, you move people from all over the world, keep it up and wish for you all the best.
A lot of respect to you for speaking about this. 👍🏻
Legend love you bro 🏴💙
Hang on tight, keep being an inspiration for so many people worldwide, you express yourself in a truly genuine manner, we understand and appreciate the powerful message. Don't stress with filming if you're not feeling like it, we'll never stop following the spiciest brothers no matter what. 💪
You sound like a very HEARTFELT MAN, nd you know not everyone will know your battles. Nor be able help. BUT your have your FANS support you through thick nd Thin.
Head up man lockdowns got everyone in the mud. 55 is coming tho so that will cheer us up 🔵🔴
And now we fast forward a few months and you are the world strongest man, from a troubled boy that wanted to hide away from the world to a national icon.
Didn't think it was possible to have even more respect for you, but here we are. Stay strong big man.
It’s good to bring awareness and show how lifting has given you goals and direction.
Love the video Tom! You are a great strongman and an even better person. Thank you so much for talking about this important issue and your experience with it#stayspicy
Tom, I don’t think you give yourself enough credit for how articulate you are. You are clear in your message and it’s respected by all of us watching. What a fresh reminder that we are all human. You’ll get through it man.
I've been struggling also.
Keep your head up brother. Everything will be better soon!
It will :), just remember to stay motivated and act like it will, you receive what you put out
I don’t know you Jim, but I wanted to send my love and say stay positive no matter what life throws at you 👊
Keep you’re head up
You’re a legend brother! Future Worlds Strongest Man!!!
Thanks for your honesty. Spring is coming and the dark winter is ending. I'm on the spectrum and I can confirm that the autistic mind can be both brilliant and exhausting. I've really hated lock down too... its a slow torture where my usual ways of resetting are limited.
Love you big Tommy , keep it up big guy Great Britain loves you
For who you are, never change for nobody
Tom my thoughts and prayers are with you.. Stay strong keep talking you will be ok...
It’s so important to hear men’s voices talking about mental health. Thank you for being so strong Tom!
Thanks for sharing Tom, brought a tear to my eye. I suffer with depression and being in lockdown is awful. Let's all stay strong together.
Stay strong brother! Lots of love from Norway!
Dear Tom my cousin has been autistic his entire life and although he's 70 now you can imagine how he struggled with it in his younger days when no one knew what it was ....but through drive and determination he made a good life for himself along with medicine .......so in the end never give up my friend God bless you
Tom, you are an inspiration for all those out there struggling. Keep Strong.
I’m a support worker and I work with a gentlmen who has Autism, he’s been struggling with covid,, especially with tasks and routines. I cant wait to show him this video, it will be a reminder hes not alone. Thank you so much for sharing this Tom.
We love you Tom. You are my favorite strong man by a mile, I find myself repeating myself to my friends and family, about your achievements. You are such an inspiration and I just want to say that it takes a MAN to open up like you just did. Your gonna be the greatest of all time.
(0 dislikes at the moment, great community!)
Get it.
Peace.
Best wishes here from Tom. I have had it hard to here in the lock down and other.
Keep spicy as we will 💪
You are doing the right thing :). Mental health issues should get much more attention and people should learning about it. It's really sad when I most likely have a few conditions myself and I hear people just throwing out insane statements on how people with X conditions are more or less "idiots" :(
Tom, you are not a burden to others, you are a blessing! You're going to do great at the contest, keep up the good work!
I'm on the same boat too, my memory is bad too but I dont let that stress me out I keep moving forward and not giving up.
You're and inspiration Tommy 👏👏👏👏
Respect big man. I've been suffering with my mental health for a few years now and my little boy is non verbal autistic so I can definitely relate ❤️
Man I hope you and your son are doing well and thriving matey.
Tom. Thank you for being open like you were. The whole community is super proud of you! Stay strong and keep being yourself!
It takes a big man to open up like this, I have mild dyspraxia and struggle to organise my emotions sometimes, lifting helps me with a routine and helps me keep calm. You are an inspiration to me and so many people Tom, keep strong and keep doing what you do
Thank you for sharing this, Tom. This helps others, and hopefully you can find balance with everything, with the help of your family. Big ups !!!✊❤️
Bro God has given you this platform to save lives! The courage to speak up is greater strength than any weight you’ve lifted off the ground! Praying for you brother. Your a hero!
Keep fighting Tom, I’m a huge fan. You inspire a lot of people and give them/us courage to keep pursuing dreams!
My mom suffers from bipolar disorder and you opening up about mental health has really touched my heart bro, thank you so much for being open about this respect and love from Wolverhampton UK 👍 ✌️
Hang in there big man. You a motivation for me, keep on rocking bro
..Know this big bro...you are truly a gift to this life we live in. In your deepest darkest hours, you find the will to inspire people like myself who find every way in the world to make excuses for myself to not do shit even though im not going through half of what you speak of mentally.
Big respect my friendly giant that just shows the man you are , a true inspiration
Keep being yourself mate. Everyone on TH-cam loves u for not only what we see on the videos but just you in general. Keep being open, keep being confident💪🏼🤍
I can relate so much to you Tom, you’re a legend
Hi Tom,
Thanks for opening up about Autism. I never you you had it, and you are already a great inspiration. It is something difficult to explain and for a lot of people to understand. My 7 year old boy also has Autism and it has been a long difficult road for the wife and I and we try and help him as much we can. But you know, that little boy is my inspiration and he is my hero. He loves watching you and Luke on the channel and television. Thank you again for opening up. It honestly is great that you are talking about it and just the inspiration it gives us out here. Have a good one mate.
