My Aspergers held me back and I had no idea why until much later in life. It's great people are talking about it and schools are accommodating for it. We need more role models like Tom Stoltman and Loz. Thanks guys. Legends.
I love Tom and I honestly teared up hearing about how his life changed when he decided to seek assistance at school. What a wonderful man. Thank you Big Loz for this interview!
Amazing interview, had to fight back some tears at the end when Tom was listing everything people said he wouldn’t achieve and how he made them eat their words, much love 🤟🏽❤️
i have aspergers and on a similar level to tom as most people wont realize i have the condition. im 30 now and have been doing exercise/weights/boxing since i was 8 years old because of a dolph lundgren workout tape that got me started back in 1998 lol. one thing that is hard with aspergers is you can be super talented at things really quick but its difficult to keep at things. i have a brain that weirdly learns muscial instruments like over night and produce music but i struggle with simple shit like bills or talking to people. even at my biggest weight 220lbs lean i was still anxious around people especially because i have been threatened with knives and baseball bats many times. i had to learn how to fight pretty quick as a kid after nearly being stabbed at 9 years old i had to pull my own knive and slash a older kids face. i grew up on a shithole estate and it was sometimes hard when i got into smoking weed everyday and eventually becoming an alcoholic but now clean after many years. in england there is barely any help for people with any condition or mental health disorder and i always had paranoia of people after the amount of times i was nearly stabbed for no reason at all. if anyone knows someone with autism or suspects someone of having mild aspergers then try keep an eye out for them as they usually become targets lol as i has way too many fights and luckily always won them due to boxing. i'm now doing fine and getting married this sunday so hopefully the future will be good as i have slowly defeated some dark mental health problems and psychosis.
I can relate and understand with Tom. I got diagnosed as an adult with Asperger's. I would always find comfort or solace when Im in the gym lifting weights or going out for a run, always brought my head back into focus. I think Tom could win WSM by time he is 30.
Myself was diagnosed with Asperger and seeing this video and listening and watching some videos before of him in strongman. Im inspired. Forever a fan of Tom Stoltman.
The thing that brought me my love for strongman is Athletes like Tom, Luke, Brian Shaw, Loz, Nick Best best etc. who are just so down to earth. Always be humble!
I love how as you interview him..... you actually stay engaged without interrupting him. Let him talk ya know. That is awesome. Well done and great interview.
Loz thanks for featuring Tom and thanks to Tom for talking about his autism - I have been a fan of you both but until your video I did not know of Tom’s uniqueness. Shows how valuable good support and attention can make a tremendous difference!
Great interview and without a doubt one of the best I've seen from Tom. I've really been enjoying your channel and great seeing these guys being comfortable enough to open up in these interviews.

Thanks for speaking out Tom! I worked with children who had special needs for 7 years. Mainly because I learned so much from them and not the other way around. 💪💪💪💪

I follow strongman forever, I'm into it all they way, and the Stillman brothers are the kind of guys that you always have a good time, and I swear that Tom for me was just another guy with a funny behavior that liked to joke around. Never thought he add Asperger's. I think he will be an awesome role model for kids with the same problems, like Eddie does for people with depression. Thanks Loz for the video
I’m autistic, and have two autistic boys. So I can relate to a lot of what you guys are talking about here. Support from others is a huge factor in how well an autist learns to adapt to the world around them. I had good support AND understanding in school and at home, and I went on to get a PhD and have a great job. But others I know that didn’t get as much of either really struggled. As a side note, I love heavy lifting. For me it is a perfect neural outlet, because I’m always seeking proprioceptive feedback and it provides compression and engagement that work better to keep me mentally “level” than any medication I ever tried. It’s great to see someone in strongman representing ND’s! Thanks so much for this vid!
Support is key in this situation. I'm glad that Tom is surrounded by a close-knit group of people. The Stoltman brothers have become my favorite strongmen.

There are many of us lifting weights, strength training and bodybuilding that are on the spectrum. For most people that aren't genetic elites, it takes the kind of narrow focus that we have. Lifting weights in general also helps our anxiety and good for generalized anxiety disorder (which I also have). It calms down the mind in general, at least for me. Start getting upwards of 300 lb deadlifts for reps and you'll start seeing what I mean. I was attracted to bodybuilding very early because it was a fighting chance against bullying, and I stayed because of the psychological benefits.
