In this video we are taking a closer look at the brand new FeiyuTech G6 handheld stabilizer for the GoPro Hero 5/6 Black. This gimbal works with other action camera brands as well. There have been many new upgrades added to the FeiyuTech G6 that really are a welcome addition. This video is a first impressions type of review, we also do a quick unboxing and include some sample test footage. I also go over how to setup the new WiFi feature which allows you to control your GoPro with the FeiyuTech G6 built in controls.
I will be doing more Feiyu Tech G6 featured videos over the coming weeks and will do a 30 day follow up after I have had a good amount of time to test it out and see if my opinion has changed.

G5 owner here..and really happy with it,my gopro hero 5 works at its best.Honestly I don'tsee issues whatsoever in audio quality recording,with Feyu suggested settings I'm more than satisfied

Thanks for the review... Just a little warning; either avoid or be VERY wary of doing a firmware update. I started a firmware update and made sure I did not interrupt the process during the update. After 2 hours, the update timed out and the G6 froze completely. It is unresponsive. I am going back an forth with Feiyu now about solutions. I will post as solutions are presented.

I've had one for a couple days so far. It reacts to commands slowly and gets confused if you change directions too fast. Then it goes into jerky motions sometimes spinning like a top. Go slow with no more than 2 commands at a time. Be ready to hit the shut down button and reboot. The reverse function works only once. It does not return to forward with the same command. Shut it down, reboot and it will face forward. Don't try to do too much with it.
Can you you please record without music. Can you hear the gears move after recording on the Gropro Hero 5-6 since mics are very sensitive.
Super great. It feels different to get it. It's still a penny and a dime. Continue to support Feiyu. cool
The gimball does provide excellent stabilization for he GoPro.Very good quality and works as advertised.
Need to get used to a few finicky motions if you hold the gimbal a certain way (mechanical gears are challenged with some rotations). Works with hero full size, better than it works with session.

I really like the fact that it will charge the a gopro while attached. Pretty handy for Gopro Session users who can't swap batteries in the cam. Would love to see a more in depth explanation of the timelapse features. Great review! Thank you!

Hum, i really can't judge the quality of the stabilisation with your footages. I either see some very slowmo shots or fixed shots. It's just hard to get an idea of the stabilisation.
I will be uploading a video in the next few days it’s just pure footage raw off the camera. Also some compared to the G5 Side-by-side
Feiyu has a high value for money. Compared with similar products with similar functions in the current market, G6 has provided more shooting possibilities with a lower price of nearly half while maintaining better and stable quality, which makes G6 more competitive than official matches..

Thanks for the review! I bought one but I now found the GoPro 5 picks up the noise from the motors and drowns out regular audio. Is there a fix for that besides attaching a mic? Cheers,
I might be comming into this discussion late because I waited so long before pulling the trigger on buying this gimbal. I watched hundreds of reviews on all kinds of gimbals... Anyway I noticed the same thing. The audio on the GoPro was picking up some of the motor noise. What I have done to mitigate this is .... (1) set the GoPro in the gimbal so it does not touch the motor I will leave just a very small gap when I tighten it down. & (2) I will sometimes use an external recording device like a Zoom H1 and then match the audio and video up in post.
That is a very good tip thanks for sharing that. The go Pro does have very sensitive microphones and vibrations can be picked up quite easily. I’m sure many will find your tip very useful

Can you do a test to see how engine noise affects the audio quality? I would imagine selfie mode is pointless for commentary like on the G5 if you have the noise coming through from the gimbal.
I will be uploading a video soon in the next few days with just a raw video with audio captured from the gopro so you viewers can get a good feel of what kind of audio/motor noise is picked up

Hi, I have the G6 harness for the GoPro Hero8 though it seems to vibrate quite powerfully on tilting rotation. It appears to be balanced well. Should motor rotation be adjusted?

@@Lauders75 I may have to think about that then. mine seems to vibrate everytime I overdo any kind of rotation. And sometimes the gopro starts shaking as if it reacted to some kind of magnetic field.

The "Tilt" button I believe is used to completely level the camera if it didn't do it initially.

I understand both the gimbal and the GoPro are waterproof/splash proof but how would that be possible when you’re removing the wide door? Surely this makes the GoPro less than splash proof?

Hi Shawn, may I ask a couple of questions please.........is it possible to connect the FeiyuTech G6 directly to a GoPro using Bluetooth without having to use an android phone, so that you can change modes on the camera using the FeiyuTech G6, I have the Hero 7 Black GoPro.
Second question, when panning from Left to Right or Right to Left using the FeiyuTech G6 joystick/button, is it possible to slow down the panning speed?.............many thanks....Ian

I think there's a cold shoe attachment on the side & you can put the rode mic on to try to eliminate some motor noise

Cool bit of kit judging by your test videos near the end. I made te mistake of order one of those G-clamp shaped heavy mechanical ones for my Sony Handycam. Big mistake: very light camera on a heavy, heavy gimbal. I don't need one with bells and whistles but I need something.
Cant record using the g6. Tried updating firmware but that too wont let me update

Got the G6. The case isnt as bad as I thought it would be. Yeah, its still not going in my day pack. But, it does fit more than I thought. Its almost a complete Hero/gimbal solution.

I’ve read the GoPro Hero 4 black fits on this unit but do you know if the controls on the g6 also work in combination with the Hero 4 (start/stop record etc) when it’s connected? Just want to be sure before (maybe) purchasing it
Does that back button for tilting - rocker, does it make sound, mine makes rattle noise if i tap it lightly, I think its loose or bad design..

My self I prefer the G6 over the Karma. The karma is a good gimbal but it’s a little pricey and you’re limited to what cameras you can use in it. The G6 is capable of using a wide variety of cameras including ones that aren’t gopro brand Including the new Osmo Action. In this video I was using the hero 6 And yes the hero 7 is fully compatible.

When I charge my G6 the display screen shows the bars charging for around 30 seconds then it goes blank so I don't know if it's charging or Not?

I just purchased the G6 but unable to connect to Bluetooth. User guide says i need to change to the 2.4 ghz bandwith, but thats not an option in the hero5. The video looks like yours automatically connected. Any tips?

Thanks for the video and I do have a question. After watching your video I bought the Feiyu G6 and I noticed there was a problem. If I swing my right hand that hold the G6 anti-clockwise to around the 3-4 o'clock position, the motor started to rattle non-stop. But once I passed the 3 o'clock position, the rattle stopped. It didn't happen when I swing to the 8-9 o'clock position. Is this normal? Anyway I found it to be unusable. Thanks again for any info.
p kay same for me. I think the reasons for motors making that shaking noise is from not having the gimbal perfectly balanced. Even if it’s a bit off, I’ve heard you NEED to have it placed perfectly with the gimbal.
Anyone else have problems with the timelapse/auto-rotation? I cannot change the time/length through the app or even get the device to do the timelapse. I press it 4 times, hear the beep, move it, press it, move it and press again. The device goes to starting position, but does not move an inch no matter even if I wait 8h which is the longest time you can do with it.
