I think .. the ancient Cambodian civilization had contacted with Sirentra or Srivishai kingdom in java thousand years ago. Perhaps, Cambodian music used to sound like this.

But this particular version of legong was created recently in 2005, by Pak Nyoman Cerita, a highly accomplished choreographer and composer in Bali, for Pak Nyoman Wenten's (Burat Wangi's longtime director at CalArts) group in his home village of Sading.

@ubanny23 No, Historian said that Hinduism and Buddhism spread to Indonesia directly from Indian sea traders and Brahmanas. Many ancient Indonesian statesman and civilians also studied Hinduism and Buddhism in India then teach back in their place of origins. In fact Jayavarman II (770-850) the founder of Khmer Empire had resided for some time in Java during the reign of Sailendras, hence the concept of Devaraja or God King was ostensibly imported from Java. At that time, Sailendras allegedly ruled over Java, Sumatra, the Malay Peninsula and parts of Cambodia.
