I think it got flooded by external views from a specific facebook page and people were disappointed the video was not about gear. It killed the video performance.
Ya bro you’re one of those people that doesn’t have as big of a channel as some others but you really get down to business. Fantastic place man. Hope to see your winter routine soon and see some good techniques and gear.
Winter content is on the way. Was out last weekend but my camera kept shutting off at -20C. I guess I'll have to record my winter videos somewhere warm...
I really appreciated this video! Love seeing how you remained curious as you explored - not committing, but also not backing away from an option to quickly. Cheers!
Awesome video Kane! Nice to see the mash up with Dan. I did this section of trail back in about 1996 before the Tokumm-Verendrye fire and I linked it together with the Rockwall trail, then over McArther pass to Lake Ohara (before Parks Canada closed both sections of trail). I don’t remember the part you call “spicy” as I think this was covered in snow and the glacier was much bigger. Looks more challenging now. Thanks again for a great video.
Great video, as a geography guy it was awesome to see the effects of glaciation and tectonic activity up close again. Thanks. You sure earned your keep at the end of that day!
Amazing route. The rubble and lose rock is always concerning for me. I look around and think about what has fallen apart or crumbled before and what will fall apart in the future. We are just a small speck of time passing through the life of the mountain. Thx for sharing your adventures!
This was one of your craziest hike I've seen on your channel . The wildest and rugged terrain I have ever withness. You where lucky to make it without proper mountain equipment. This was a very unstable rockwall 😱 . You said it was spicy, did you regret a little bit doing this ? Thanks for the quite scary entertainment !
Interesting thoughts, on hiking pants during this epic hike. What works and provides the best protection against abrasions in relation to wt of pants also. Thoughts? Thanks in advance
If I'm planning to be off trail I make sure the pants I have are pretty burly. If you're wearing them the whole time I don't think it's worth counting grams on that kind of gear. Super thin nylon, even ripstop will get shredded. I either have an old pair of hiking pants from MEC (8oz) if they will be packed, or EB guide pro if I'm wearing them for the whole trip (~16 oz). Yes you can get pants that weigh 2-4 oz, but I'd only consider something like that for 100% established routes like the colorado trail.
@@KaneDoesOutdoors Thanks much appreciated for your response, I’m putting together my kit for PCT 2025 and trying to narrow down clothing items to carry. With the PCT I imagine less off trail route finding than say CDT etc… With the Sierras and high desert being concerns, within regards to brush and low temps, again thanks for the response love your channel and the content your created.

I do similar slopes and I’m thinking that perhaps I should get a helmet.
Woauw a trip with Dan in front of this scenery and your dialogues! Why this video is so unseen? You made my day with this video

That was some pretty gnarly high exposure scrambling... but what an awesome trail, and beautiful as well with the larches.
Epic... Somewhat out of my comfort zone ☮️ thanks for posting. So impressed with your traverse and the spectacular scenery. Love my Kakwa 40 ✔️
Nice seeing the new Wapta 30 and how it handles
That was badass!
When Dan said It's gonna be easy," it gave me both a laugh and PTSD. As his wife, who has followed him down many trails, never trust that statement!
That’s hilarious 🤣 Hope you enjoyed regardless!
that was really spicy! 😳 incredible how relaxed Dan was

Fun trip :)
And a live test for your new backpack 😉
was very great to see you here

That’s a pretty crazy route! Probably right that the glaciers would make it a different beast now vs then.
That is some rugged country. Beautiful.
Sweet trip with Dan!

The geography here is wild, definitely spoiled!

Glad you enjoyed!
Dang that section around 5:30 with those ledges looks sketchy! Big time scrambling. So fun!
Ya that section was a no fall zone!
Cool trail! So cool to see Dan.love his tent ⛺️
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing
Very nice route. Love those rocks.
Awesome! Looks like a fun trek. Sketchy in some parts, but still fun.
Wow, that one part would be too sketchy for me! Glad you made it through safely!
Definitely not for everyone!
Nice video Kane! We are so lucky to live so close to this area. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Tyler!
Great video. I know that you and me love different level of hiking than the majority of people. It looks fun to me ahah😅.
Those alpine views sure looked fantastic. Just need to get Parks to send a trail crew to get over the crux
I don't think that will ever happen!
@@KaneDoesOutdoors probably not, but one can dream :)
Oatmeal and I love this...rock out with your Johnson extended sir! Oatmeal and I subscribe now...
Is that the new Wapta 30 I spot?
That it is!
I wish there was more than 9:29 minutes of this goodness.
Tried to keep it short!

Pretty rare that I regret things, glad I wasn't alone though!
@@KaneDoesOutdoors no regrets, but no fear ?
So beautiful dude, looks a little sketchy in some areas but neat none the less! Hopefully we'll get out together again soon
Next summer!
@@KaneDoesOutdoors absolutely buddy!
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Intense trip! Looks like you had to wait for the Wapta announcement to share this vid :D
Haha exactly - the video had been sitting in my private videos for two months!
@@KaneDoesOutdoors I knew it 😄
Man all the rock looks like it will give out on you at any moment.
The rockies are famous for loose rock 🤷♂️

Love it, yeah spicy! None of that looked solid, scary stuff
Definitely a little loose
I bet all that loose rock would beat the hell outta persons feet. Even the best boots only go so far
TX3s are holding up great 👍
Keep looking at your bare hands and thinking that a pair of well fitting gloves with rubber outer layer might be cool.
I do see some people around here who do a lot of scrambling using construction style gloves with a rubber coating. The rock is very sharp.
Remind me not to go hiking with Dan!
🤣🤣
