    Surprised and saddened at the same time..
    I was surprised when I heard mt Kenya have icebergs and snow ,before that I thought mt.kilimanjaro was the only mountain in Africa which have ice,
    Meanwhile it's sad to see this beauty being diminished...

    Nice to hear someone who traveled to Africa at last, I always wondered how it would feel like traveling to Africa, how was the experience? I mean, I have heard so much about Africa! Which airport did his plane land on? Africa Intl' Airport? C'mmon NYT, you could just be as right if you said "Kenya" instead of "Africa". Is that too much to ask for?

    Some Kenyans think that the loss of these glaciers means just lost beauty or lost ecosystem.
    However more than 100 small towns and almost a dozen large towns are fully reliant on water from these very glaciers.
    This is where most of the rivers in Laikipia, Isiolo, Meru, Embu, Nyeri, Kiambu and Muranga county originate.
    The succesful farming in the counties outside the national park is ALL fed by the waters of these glaciers.
    A few disasters ahead fellow Kenyans. Let's prepare well for the uncertain future.

    It's the old story of turning up the heat on a pot of frogs in water. Besides the average person does not give a crap about a glacier in Africa. I recall Botanist monks burning themselves alive to stop the way in Vietnam. It made good news footage but little else. So don't get any ideas.

    • @ThePanther97

      Well just remember that humans and animals in Kenya depend on the glaciers water and once it disappears all life in the lowlands will be in deep turmoil but hey since when did people from the west ever care for Africans anyway. Rest my case

    And I should be upset the glacier is disappearing because................?

    • @ThePanther97
      @ThePanther97 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Because when it disappears all of life below will change for the worst, literally we're talking about animals and humans going through a famine because the water from the glaciers will suddenly stop reaching the lowlands which makes the dry season longer and in the end life will be much harder for any species that depends on the glaciers water as well as humans

    • @darkmath100
      @darkmath100 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Panther "in the end life will be much harder"......I believe in Evolution and Survival of the Fittest. A harder life means less weakness and that's ok by me. Hey it got us this far, why fight it. ;-)
