We were in Durban at the time, watching the game from our hotel room. My friend's baby's nanny was standing next to me watching out the window after the Springboks won the 1995 Rugby World Cup, as a sea of people, black and white came shouting. dancing and singing Shosholoza down all the streets that I could see. The singing was so loud that the windows were rattling. The two of us just stood watching out the windows with tears streaming down our faces. Seeing people of all colours celebrating together like that was awesome.

Growing up as a kid in New Zealand i remember getting up early to watch the final with my pops. Was so sure we'd win with Lomu after what he done to England. The Springboks played like men possessed and shut him down. Great documentary 👏 churr. R.I.P Lomu, Van der westhuizen

In all things Rugby, said and done, Jonah Lomu was one of the greatest players ever. His only trounce was the historic timeline of SouthAfrica's Madiba moment. A catalyst that if applied universally could and has overcome so much and so many time stamped hurdles that still torment this country of such greatness, the very country of my birth, I wish only that in my absence I can shape and realize the substantive forces that celebrate the tactility of who we are as a nation, immersed in the-powerful value of belief, the undoubtable value of training and the value of repitition, and mostly, the strength of the backing of ur nation in believers of all that we set out to achieve. It may be outdated but #voortrekkersweareandwillalwaysbe. #Whocaresaboutcolorexceptbenetton #southafricashistoryunbiased

What makes South Africa one country? It is hard to imagine a more heterogenous population. If heterogeneity is not an issue, many of other Southern African states should be included in SA.
Traditionally the Springboks were selected from an area larger than SA: eg. in Rugby Jan Ellis (Namibia), Ray Mordt (Zimbabwe), Frik du Preez and Corne Krige (Zambia).
If size and economic potential of nation states are issues, why is Lesotho and Swaziland not included?
If access to harbours and other infra-stucture is an issue, why is Botswana, Mozambique and again Lesotho and Swaziland not included.
If only 20th century history is the issue, the whole of the old South African Toll Union should be included.

Botswana is much richer than South Africa with its diamonds and the small population. I think they are very satisfied with their status. And with the fact that their first presidential couple was black & white at a time when the worst part of South African history was played south of their border.

The team were inexperienced at an international level but most players had long provincial careers by then. Didn't they lose in a warm-up to a Tiaan Strauss led WP?

WP ran them close in that warm up game, but the Boks still won. I think that was a wake up call for Kitch and the team

Jim Fleming's refereeing in the Springbok-Manu Samoan match will live on as one of the worst refereeing performances in Rugby World Cup history. He simply inflamed the game by his grotesque decisions and his simply appalling bias.
