    Well i think you done a great job Rick, I see alot of negative feedback on this post and it pissed me off a little bit. Main thing is the crowd was having a blast and that's all that matters. I own a wedding venue on my property and I am the DJ. All I can say if someone gives you negative comments just go to their channel and see what they have uploaded and learn from them...... Oh wait they don't have anything of them doing any better. Your videos are a big inspiration to upcoming DJ's.

      @@reyesproduc there were a couple of factors in Rick's favor. 1.) He was on home turf. 2.) Things like this are not noticeable to the bride, and will not show up in pics. The big take away for me was Mic presence and play list. I have done 200+ weddings in Central Ohio, sometimes I don't scrim my speaker stands, and no one notices.

    just my 2 cents: Its apparent this crowd came to party!! that being said, Djing a wedding isnt like djing a club. playing club or dj remixes of songs (they are not familiar with) will always get people standing around waiting for the part they know...which leads to energy leaving the dance floor. 15:30 19:37 ...you will always have things that cause dance floor energy to dissipate...like bad mixes 16:03 . The more this happens the emptier the dance floor will be towards the end of the night! Overall great gig

    Hello so always use same type of uplight different uplights even from same manufacturer can look different. Pro tip For what they cost how do you not have spare scrims. Also if you gonna use white scrims on your speakers you should match it with your booth. Apart from that excellent as usual keep up the good work.

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Never needed more than one set. I used different colored scrims for this setup in particular. The booth was in a different location from the speakers. The colors of the room being black floor and white walls was my canvas. Using white scrims on the speaker stands made them blend in better. My low lying DJ rig in the corner blended into the floor better with black. Also white scrims on a table with a large black coffin on top looks very ugly.

  • @djgene5621
    @djgene5621 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cool video. I like the idea of collecting questions for the shoe game. It's a shame about that scrim. That would've bugged me all night. I really like the kinda convert/to the side type of DJ booth. I think the Event Table looks great at parties, but it looks too "clubish" for an elegant wedding.

Just a thought I'd appreciate your thoughts on....albeit the whole floor was packed and everyone looked happy and glorious, it looked a bit static. Your up lights looked great. Question: do you charge per light or ?
    You were blessed with a great crowd. The venue was a little too small for that crowd.
    You seemed to read the crowd very well when you played songs that they could dance but also sing a long.

    Looking forward to your next gig log. (TJ the DJ).

    None of the djs where I’m from put this much effort in in my experience. A lot of the time they’ll bring a really messy setup, lighting is rare they usually rely on the venue having lighting and the speakers aren’t skirted or anything

    WRONG. NO, NO, AND NO. Ingenuity has a value.

    • @spencerrandomguy2097
      @spencerrandomguy2097 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Package based pricing relies on that very thing tho...
      Don't you offer different sized packages at different prices? Less gear and less effort = smaller package with a smaller price...
      Unless you're advocating for removal of pricing and size options I don't see how you can reasonably disagree with what Rick said in the video.

      Do you just show up though. I contact every vendor before the event. Photographer, caterer, venue. I make sure that if the caterer will be providing food that both my DJ, photographer, venue staff get to eat at the start of dinner in a back private area away from guests. This whole eating early thing is coordinated to be seamless. It also works as great moment to quickly network with the other vendors.

      I contact the caterer to plan out the evening timeline wise. You just throw it in there and ask if a meal will be provided for the vendors at the event and if so how can I coordinate that with the photographer myself, etc. You never make it about yourself.

    Two more things:
    1) You do not eat early. You eat after the guests eat. You are there to work. If you need to eat early, bring your own meal and sneak away appropriately.
    2) MC performance on intros, toasts, and general announcements needs a lot of polish. DM me for some feedback.
