I still to this day never understood why in western culture we believe during the sengoku jedai there was all this “honourable samurai” Ninja aka shinobi were literally samurai who train in ninjitsu. Guns were the future the samurai adapted or died war is about winning and the samurai knew that. Western cultures just spread the idea of of “bushido” which isn’t even a thing really.
the ability to completely ignore troop quality when engaging. this is why the matchlock hero is the only hero that will lose in a fair fight against its ashigaru counterpart.
I think this is the most apt metaphor for what it was like in the late 1800s, the last of the Samurai facing the power and fury of foreign intervention. An admirable attempt, but an impossible, insurmountable task.
they are, mostly. theyre good for holding a small section of wall against dense concentrations of scalers, but thats about it. the same things that make matchlocks awesome in the hands of ashigaru, make them shit in the hands of heroes.
Yuvaez Lol that's what all the history books say about the alliance. Officially, we are still in that alliance en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Portuguese_Alliance However, there were many times when the English ignored that alliance, times when they raided our gold-carrying ships, especially commonwealth. And there was that time when they decided the Portuguese had to give them a huge mass of land from africa, or else they would wage war on Portugal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1890_British_Ultimatum Despite these things the alliance still stands, and its thanks to that alliance that portugal did not fall to the French or Spanish several times. And about conquering europe together, it wouldnt be possible because they're too far apart. Realistically you couldnt take over that many enemies, especially because everyone was busy trying to colonize everything bit of land that wasn't from other european countries. And keeping europe in peace was very much a priority for everyone. It is much easier to wage war on helpless, technologically retarded african/southern american tribes than to combat a foe that's just as good as you.
+Yuvaez Guns were still a powerful and instrumental force in the establishment of the Nobunaga's rule over Japan and the subsequent Tokugawa. One of the underlying factors of Nobunaga's success was his implementation of European firearms in his army. The Japanese quite clearly saw firearms as an extremely effective weapon so much so they banned it under Tokugawa's rule because it could be used to threaten the authority of the shoguns rule and took little skill to learn how to use and quite clearly had an advantage over the bow and arrow which was the backbone of Japanese Armies during the Sengoku period.
False. The introduction of the Flintlock mechanism made the Matchlock mechanism obsolete because of the easier and perhaps faster reloading time. Not to mention, with a Matchlock, you had to have the ignition rope (it touched the powder, thus igniting the powder in the barrel, projecting the bullet forwards) lit, and in the case water or rain is involved, that isn't good for units carrying the matchlocks. There were several upgrades from the time of the Samurai to the time of Waterloo...and they still used the Flintlock musket at Waterloo. The introduction of the next firearm was the bolt-action rifle, which was used in the Anglo-Zulu War.
If you see this (I hope you do) come back to this game and do what you did now only on a bigger scale like massacre series and put op troops slaughtering troops. Please I hope you make this again :D
Generu! We will break physics to conquer the enemy!
such dishonorable weapons and such a shamefurr disprey. i love it.

Filling the same mountain with marines, gatling guns = recipe for pure awesome!
as soon as i knew how to use the map editor.. it was begging to be made.
@14:00 The mountain god's likeness reveals itself through the smoke of battle, and it looks sternly down upon the sword-wielding gnats. Well done sir!
you leave a timely comment. i was considering this. i just made a poll on FB.
It's just like the Christmas Tree of Death.
Portugeese Knights and Samurai using muskets in one massed formation. I love it!

3:02 if you are super lazy and want to see when the battle starts.
if this was an actual tactic in the war for the shogun seat it must be revolutionary
Yuvaez because portugal did not have the numbers, money, or anything to gain by conquering europe
