    You are a pretty bright young man Tanner.I am so happy to see that you have a fairly good grasp on a pretty complex issue.I am 67 years old & it took me many years to "figure it out"...so to speak.Of course I grew up in a different time.Things have truly gotten so much better for young folks these days & that thrills me to no end.I am & have always been a romantic at heart & embrace when two people find each other in this big,sometimes cruel world.I will follow your story & wish the best for you.May you have fun while you are young...safely of course LOL!....and someday find that special someone to share your life with.Cheers from a sensible spot in Florida!

      It makes me so happy to see a young generation ok with themselves and their sexuality. My Gen , Gen x didn’t have that. I send good vibes you find a man whom will adore and appreciate you as you deserve.

    Tanner you explanation of the various psychological determinations surrounding being Gay is spot on. I've also read that exposure of the fetus to female hormones may be a cause of homosexuality.

    • @tannereustace
      @tannereustace  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve heard that too! It seems to be a very complex trait as no single gene or hormone seems to be at play by itself, similar to musical ability, which I did a project on in my genetics class

    I think it's important to differentiate between suppression (a conscious defense mechanism) and repression (an unconscious defense). So, people don't "try" to repress, though they my try to suppress negative feelings. People who repress are not aware that they're doing it. It's the reason that gay people can enter into heterosexual relationships and not be aware that they're not straight. Unfortunately, defense mechanisms never are 100% effective and eventually often fail.

    The psychiatrist Sigmund Freud, in his 1905 book, "Three Contributions to the Theory of Sex," expressed his professional opinion that ALL humans have an innate capacity for bisexuality. Decades later, Kinsey reached the same conclusion from his mountain of research. Both acknowledged the residual influence of early childhood training to view nearly anything as loathsome, nasty, and wicked. In other-words, as David Letterman once joked, "Sex IS friction . . . and suction."

      That is interesting! I also discussed Freud’s psychosexual theory of personality in my psychology class

    Hello Tanner my name is Albert Dodson writing you about how to come out to my friends and family please help me come out

    • @tannereustace
      @tannereustace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Albert, thank you for reaching out. The situation is going to vary among every individual so there’s no one formula to come out per se, but I can try to give my best advice. If you’re comfortable, tell just one person who you are almost confident will be accepting. Just having one person who supports you know the truth will help immensely. I did mine through text which worked out fine, but if you want it to be more personal you could try a phone call or in person-it’s really up to you. I wish you the best ❤️ and my email is in my channel description if you need more personal advice

    My theory is that homosexuality is to a large extent genetic. You are born that way.

    • @tannereustace
      @tannereustace  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d mostly agree! I’m not sure if genes have total control, but they are thought to predispose oneself. As someone studying genetics in college, I am excited to hopefully learn more!
