Clearing up some misinformation. V2 was never sent in for KF. It was one of the exclusives I wrote for SFTA but I felt like I could do better. Instead, V3 was released on SFTA in 2010. It wasn't added to KF until the 2014 EoL update. A month later I released Era, a complete collection of tracks I wrote for KF since 2005 including cut and unreleased tracks, which V2 was one of.
zYnthetic on my channel ? A dream came true. Thank you to clarify this. i discovered Killing Floor (and the soundtrack) later after the first release (maybe in 2012) and get ERA (and others stuff like Residual Decay) on your Bandcamp in 2015 or 2016.
I feel like the bosses themselves in KF2 on higher difficulties are enough to hold their own though I gotta agree with you a bit more than I'm willing to, haha. There's just something about the first KF boss theme that really sets the tone for the fight.
first version still gives me some nu metal vibes, though that might be just because of killing floor 1's ost being very nu metal in general, specifically the dirge tracks
@MORPHENE375 I'd say it gives the feeling that while you're already in bloody hell bashing hordes of Zeds there is something scarier and stronger watching you and learning your every move to strike.
Honestly i like Patriarch's Theme in KF2 cause it fits his character design, i think it would be hard to remake Abondon All to fit. but what we should ask for is reconstructions of Dirge's Repulse and Defective.
Having a different but familiar boss theme and fighting 2 Patriarchs at once while the place is about to fucking explode was such an aweseome send off to KF1 and really made it feel like a true final boss. It's like when a final boss in a truly linear game is a remix of the first boss or the main title screen theme or something.

Man, am writing this comment almost 4 years after the release of the mix of all the versions. Abandon All and Abandon v3 are the ones that are originally used in the final release of the KF1. V2 was the song used to the boss in the early days of the game. And that is (I believe) after the release of the lore of the game. I also remember Tripwire having an idea that they wanted to implement more than 1 boss in the first game (except for the lore) but they could go for the ideas and resources they had at that time. Now with KF2, the OST hasn't changed much, some more metal has been implemented to fit with the game's atmosphere. Glad that they kept Dirge Repulsive (if I remember correctly the name of the track).
