One of my old faves! An old friend of mine, Becki Bluefield Haynes, co-wrote this one with Jim Owen! Becki lives in assisted living down in Waynesboro, MS. She's a gem! ♥
Conway and Loretta actually did three albums worth of duets. My wife is absolutely bonkers over Loretta. I drove her all over the west coast to various LL concerts in the 33 years we were married before Loretta passed away. We both support Loretta's granddaughter Tayla Lynn and Conway's grandson, Trey Twitty. They tour around Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, etc. You should go see them if you get a chance!
Try Patty Loveless singing You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive. Live from Austin City Limits 2001. Must be this one. Very touching and awesome. Loretta’s distant cousin
Hello jay&Amber great reaction . You two are awesome couple and your children are as well. Because of your upbringing of them . I love to get merchandise from you and other reactors. But currently am in a rehab/nursing home facility trying to re-learn to walk I suffer from diabetic neuropathy which affected my walking ability please pray for me if possible thanks a lot you both rock have a great weekend bob steinmiller.
Now you've done it! Classic Country duets (all major stars on their own) Conway and Loretta, George and Tammy, Porter and Dolly just to get started. Staples in the genre.
Lawd, you need her sing, Coal Muners Daughter, you've danced around it...maybe waiting for the movie.. so great with Sissy Spacek and Tommy lee jones...both oscar winners.
Give an older Conway with his duet with Sam Moore A Rainy Night in Georgia. It was on the album Rhythm Country and Blues which BTW has other epic pairings....Tanya Tucker and Little Richard, Clint Black and the Pointer Sisters, Aaron Neville and Trisha Yearwood, Natalie Cole with Reba, Travis Tritt and Patti LaBelle, Vince Gill with Gladys Knght...and MORE!!
Y'all should check out these: Mac Davis - Hard To Be Humble / Buck Owens - Child Support / John Anderson - Chicken Truck / Eddie Rabbitt - Suspicions / Bug Al Downing - I Ain't No Fool. Also check out clips of The Mandrell Sisters (Barbara, Louise, Irlene) from their 1980s TV show. They sing, dance, & play multiple instruments. There's also "Hee Haw". On the earlier episodes, there's a guy named Stringbean who wore sagging pants long before it became hip hop era fashion. 😀
This is my favorite of their many duets. I'm so happy to see y'all enjoying this classic! I can't remember if you've reacted to Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash's, duet "Jackson." If not, that is a must!!!
If you ever do a road trip up north take some time to go to Itasca State Park in Minnesota. It contains the Headwaters of the Mississippi River. The Mississippi may have been a mile wide in this song, but up at the headwaters it is only about 20 feet wide where it comes out of Lake Itasca and it is shallow enough that you can wade across it. I took my kids up there when they were little. My son was 3 or 4 at the time and the water was just above his knees. Lots of great memories!
I used to watch Coal Miners Daughter every time it came on TV growing up. I will get on the band wagon with the others who recommend you checking it out. Also check out "Shag".... a dance movie.
Very first concert I ever went to, I might have been 7. My mom was cool like that, I miss her so much. This made me think of her. We lived in Charleston South Carolina. And yes my mom had a big high beehive. Lol
Another country female artist to check out, KT Oslin and her songs, 80s Ladies, Hey Bobby, Do Ya, I'll Always Come Back, Hold Me, Come Next Monday. Also, check out a couple more from k.d. lang - Pullin' Back The Reins (sort of torchy) and Just Keep Me Moving (from a movie soundtrack).
OMG!!!! Where to start... this song takes me back to my childhood. When I was a kid we used to go on road trips on Sundays and my Dad used to play this type of music on the 8 track player in our car. I'm not a country fan but.....such great memories of a time when life was so simple and happy!! Sadly , my dad has passed but thank you for stirring up these memories. If country would have stayed on this course, I might be a fan.
LOL!!! I am surprised someone as young as you would know about "the higher the hair!" LOL!! It's been a long time since I have heard that phrase. Thank you for putting a spring in my step, song in my heart, and a HUGE smile on my face! I grew up listening to Loretta Lynn and all the old Country Music, we only had a radio and didn't get a TV till I was 10. So thank you again for wonderful memories of FEEL GOOD HAPPY MUSIC!
@@bjdefilippo447 LOL! I doubt if it put a dent in the ozone. LOL! I quit using hair spray back in the 70s. LOL! I always hated the stiff feeling it left.
Not only did I learn to two step to this song when I was 10, Amber's comment about the hairspray was what we used to say in the early 80's when I was in HS in GA! Hahaha love it!! And live ya'll. Been a fan since DAY 1 AND Will ALWAYS SUPPORT YOUR MESSAGE!
So interesting. I assist elderly in their daily lives. I play a lot of old country music like Loretta Lynn for them and they love it. So much country fun . Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
Now watch Tre Twitty and Layle Lynn ( grandchildren) do the same song they go by Twitty and Lynn. Loretta's twin daughters( Patsy and Peggy) The Lynns also performed with Loretta and alone. Patsy's daughter Emmy Russell was on American Idle last year. and she also performed on stage with her Memaw when younger.
back in the day Conway was so Famous he had his own theme park in Henderson TN outside Nashville called "TWITTY CITY" ! I had been there (1989?) had a good time.
It's Only make believe is my # 1 all time favorite song.So funny i was in the Army stationed at Ft.Polk Louisanna at the bar a whole lot of us GI's went to and when someone would play this song we would add our state we were from in instead of Ole Miss man hahha thanks for the memoories.
You need to do Loretta's younger sister Crystal Gayle! Her big hit was "Don't it make my brown eyes blue", too many songs to list but "Talking in your sleep", "Half the way", or "Somebody loves you" will start.
I’ve always loved this song by them and I always thought it has a Cajun Country cadence plus Conway yell definitely sounds Cajun! There sing Picking Wild Mountain Berries is good too!❤
My parents listened to country & gospel. I remember thinking how hokey Conway was & didn't want to listen to it. But...found myself singing this song to myself later. Ha! And whenever the word "Lou-si-anna" came up, my sisters & I would blurt out this chorus to each other & crack up. Fun reaction. Be blessed ❤ ❤
Conway and Loretta both had wonderful careers in their own right, and together, they formed one of the finest combos in country music history. You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly, Spiders And Snakes, We Still Believe In Waltzes, After The Fire Is Gone, The Letter, and many more. Feelins. As Soon As I Pick Up The Phone.
Lol I just heard him say the other day he hates singing this song cause be can't remember if its Louisiana man or Mississippi man. He said sometimes he'll just kind of hum that part cause he'll forget.
Hey guys! I loved this so much! Loretta and Conway , Tammy Wynette and George Jones were some of my Mama's favorites! She passed away 3 years ago and I miss her very much, but this brought back good memories! She would have been 84 this year! Thank you guys so much!
I love their duets! You guys should react to Loretta Lynn's sister's (Crystal Gayle) song "Don't it Make Your Brown Eyes Blue." You'll be in for a big surprise!
Born in '71 Nashville i never got to see Loretta perform but i was there to see her & Jack White get their hand-prints & stars on the Nashville Walk Of Fame outside Country Music Hall Of Fame. Never saw Conway either, but my family would visit his estate every Christmas when he'd decorate it & open it to the public. One Christmas, walking through his house, in one room we stumbled upon Tom T. Hall playing piano singing Christmas carols with Jim Varney/"Earnest". He was known from local Purity Dairy commercials then. Don't know if hed even done an Earnest flick yet, but was way before "The Beverley Hillbillies" movie. Ive got their autograph in a box somewhere?😅 ✌️🌎❤️
Yup. You're right Amber. Walking outside and hearing nature is very therapeutic. I live about 3 miles outside of a sleepy little Oklahoma town you guys have probably never heard of. I lived in town about 12 years ago...never again! Love you guys!
Loretta and Conway is my favorite country duo of the bunch! My favorite song from them is "After The Fire is Gone." Such a contrast to "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man."
I remember listening to this when Mom was in her country phase in the late 60s / early 70s. The river theme reminds me of Johnny Preston "Running Bear" (loved Little White Dove).
You two make my day .Im 62 and came across youre channel 2 weeks ago.Yall make it so much fun to sit back and let the music take you on a journey. And the Rob Suad are the greatest at selecting songs. You make everyone feel so welcomed. Thank you.
These 2 where like Kenny & Dolly , they where the best of friends and you’d think they where a couple in real life. Sad story is, they day that Conway passed away and they brought him into the ER, she was in the same hospital with her husband
Check out the video of their grandchildren singing this song. It sounds so much like these two. They also have the same chemistry as their grand parents.
I've been begging for this one every time you do a Conway or Loretta song. Thank you! I loved this song so much when I was a kid and you have put a huge smile on MY face today.
Okay, time for y'all to watch the movie about Loretta Lynns life COAL MINERS DAUGHTER. Excellent film that stars Sissy Spacek (as Loretta) who won the OSCAR best actress for that roll along with many nominations and other movie award wins.
