The clickiez came out pretty good. I’m impressed and looking forward to trying them. The sound doesn’t seem to be quite on the alps level but I think the taller and roomier housing of the alps design gives a pretty big advantage though.
They sound pretty good in person. They don’t sound like my alps boards but then again, they aren’t in a roomy plastic chassis. They feel great though, if just a little too heavy.
Pretty neat. I hope these do well. In theory it'd be buying into an ecosystem where Zeal could release new click leafs, and you'd be able to buy those on their own without buying a whole new switch.
Very interesting evolution. I will say, at least in this very isolated demo, the clicky sound of the prototype appealed to me more than the finished clickiez somehow. Also, I'd be very curious to see your take on the clickiez with some of the alternate click leaves you mentioned.
What are your thoughts on the pitch change? I also noticed this when clicking the switches by themselves, but the sound does seem to be less high-pitched in every board test I’ve heard. It’s a little odd to me that the sounds is so different in pitch from the other click-leaf designs you showed, but I don’t really know what to make of it
Zeal a was looking for a switch to "help the community" get an introduction to Alps switches? It's more like they were looking to help themselves to get an opportunity to make money. At a $1 a switch, it's not helping any community. I sure hope they paid you for your efforts in hard currency, not in switches.
Interestingly, as a fan of Alps switches, the pricing seems to land between "not really any more expensive than good Alps" and "a hell of a lot cheaper than NOS good Alps". And you gain access to the custom keycap stuff, which is the thing I'm most jealous of when looking at the MX world. My personal disappointment with this one is the drastic departure from Alps switches when set into the tactile configuration. As a parting thought, I'll say this: An expensive option, is much preferable to no option at all. Gotta start somewhere. IDK how much tooling expenses were, but "not zero" is probably a good starting point for estimating purposes. Oh, and every entrepreneur is trying to make money, that's a given.

Yeah, the Alps had a more refined blunt sound.

Very good video, loved learning about these. I'm glad that Proworld switches have made a comeback in modern mechanical switches.
Fantastic video! Love the research and presentation. Instant sub
Any chance you have the i-rocks Clicky switch for comparison?

Are proworlds smooth?

Well at least they're accessible and compatible, but yeah these swotches are really expensive, even for zeal switches.
