Remindes me of my uncle. He used to love to buy things, hang onto them for a while, and then sell them to try and turn a profit. If he couldn't make money off it he would give it to one of his grand kids or nieces and nephews. But that's what he did as a hobby for over 40 years.
I wouldn't be able to deal with people like this day and day out. Some people enjoy the process of negotiating..I would go home with a huge headache.
I found a couple 12" troll dolls marked with DAM at an estate sale about 20 years ago. One was a guy dressed in a Viking Cruise Ship sailor outfit and the other was dressed like an eastern European peasant lady with a hat and knit shawl with roses. I auctioned them both...the sailor went for $110 and the lady went for $240. I have never seen a 12" troll doll in the wild again....and trust me...I've been looking...
There was an interesting legal case decades ago between the actual INVENTOR of the troll dolls and at least one outfit copying them, violating their original copyright.
As I recall, you can easily guess where the illegal copier was making them! Some things never change.

One big mistake anyone going into a buy and sell shop like this is Never Ever bring all your stuff in at the same time ,if you bring it in on different days in days you will get 2x3 times the amount.

@@andriana5311Depends on the place and how they do business,but most pawn shops bundle everything together and give you a number that might sound like a lot, but is usually under what you'd get 1 item at a time.
It's not quite 2x less unless you're getting ripped off, but you might get an extra $10 or $20 individually. I don't think Pete does that from what I've seen though. Seems like you'd get the same price either way.

Yeah, there was no such thing as an off-the-shelf phone in the 70s, especially not a touchtone, or car-shaped one. Back then in the US, you needed to buy (or more usually rent) phones from the phone company, and they would install it, because most phones were hardwired, not with the modern phone jacks. And that includes the novelty Mickey Mouse phones. And touchtone was very state-of-the-art in the 70s, not many people had them until the 80s.

The trolls are Swedish too. They are darling little creatures and not mean spirited or evil in any way. Not “creepy” at all. Many Swedish illustrations feature these little guys Sone famous illustrators focus entirely on trolls and troll life. I have an authentic Swedish troll -one about double the size of the little ones. I recall in the 60’s we called them “gookies”. They are all the same except for hair colour clothing was minimal and evolved in later years. We loved them! Wish I’d have kept one of mine
