      *Reposting because "cm punk" keeps flagging my comments*
      It's called Pete has expenses, taxes, and fees for everything sold + he has to pay staff to clean, prep, and list them, then use packing materials they paid for to ship it. That's even assuming they sell in the next few weeks! If they dont, then he has store money tied into paperweights.
      So yes, the price agreed to by two adults engaged in verbal negotiations you can clearly see on-camera is FAIR.
      Fair is not what you feelz, it is what is agreed to. In the reselling world, if you break even you lost money.

      @Hk843 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been a member of NBTHK, and I have been studying katanas, also written papers on katana of different periods including the modern times. There are a lot of different guntos, some were mass produced machine made blades that were of poor quality, some were high quality ones that were commisioned, produced by swordsmiths from the Yasukunito. There were also some guntos that had its blade exchanged for a higer quality one, by famous swordsmiths. Hence, it is not neccessary for a gunto to have a matching number. For the gunto in the video, I have to say, there is nothing looks authentic. The saya, tsuba, tsuka, the whole koshirae, even the sound of pulling it out is not right, the katana is a cheap Chinese fake.

    I love art deco stuff.
    And they are made from a product called Bakelite. It's a kind of plastic. But it's not. It's hard to describe. But it's very tough.
    And they could make it into any form and or colour. And it was cheap to make. And easy to use. It started being used between the two world wars. Origionally from the UK (like me) it was used all over the world. And now most things with Bakelite. Like old Radios and Seeing machines are extremely collectable.

    Waving those swords around, just leave them on the counter and turn them over don't hold them in the air like that. Don't touch them with your bare hands.
    Had a buddy who was stabbed because one knuckle head took the sheath off the bayonet and the other dude turned around right into the bayonet. Just the tip.
    There was a TH-cam video of a dude who had a replica Roman sword and nearly sliced off his entire calf. In this case he was trying some sword moves.
    If that Katana is real you could get $2500. The Scabbard is a bummer but not a deal killer.

    another thing about those swords is that they weren't worth very much money in the 50s and '60s so kids did have sword fights with them. That might actually add to the authenticity of it in my opinion.
    absolutely nobody put unit numbers on those things. If they did have one it was done in presentation style and was done over the entire blade. That was more before World War II, you see World War I items having this, mostly again for dress purposes. If somebody punched anything on that luftwaffle blade, it was done after the war by an American...
    another thing, you might have a sword, especially daggers, that were built with real parts but after the war. there were tons of parts left over laying in warehouses and GIs put these things together and sent them home. If you find one with a sword knot, they're generally not tied correctly because nobody knows how to tie the damn things in this country and there isn't any information online that explains how to do it easily. I do know one guy in Milwaukee area, hopefully is still alive, he knows how to tie these things.

I think it would have added a lot of trust and goodwill to the company, many of the customers seems like struggling people financially. word of caution on pulling/installing old ww2 samurai swords. some of the old military issue scabbards were 2 piece wood side by side full length. with a slight crack from end to end. problem is when you hold the scabbard and insert the sword the blade will protrude out of the crack and give you a nasty cut on the hand. Just say` in, from personal experience
