Murder in a coal camp - Finding Dan McCoy - Burnwell Kentucky

Was it a hunting accident or cold blooded murder? Dan McCoy's life ended in Premier West Virginia, at a well known rowdy and wild coal camp. What happened really?
A old resident is said to recall it was a hunting accident, but his death certificate clearly states Homicide. I cant find any articles about it either.
