I feel like Duolingo is my #1 just because it is completely free but if you pay for it it gets even better. It also has many languages for English and other languages if your native language isn’t English. It also has a lot of support, challenges, games, and practices.
no bias at all, right? 😂 LOL saw it coming + i'm not even mad. still haven't gotten my question answered tho: before you said, "....any language." does that include ASL??

Duolingo is useless scum after the path update, they removed the ability to learn your own way and they force you to learn the slow brainless zombie way
When I used to learn Japanese on Duolingo ( I don’t use it anymore) I had to translate a sentence from Japanese into English and it really said “is that college student 4 years old?” 😭😭
That's a biased ranking since the n°1 is your app... You should put a disclaimer in the video or in the description, but honesty is not the most common trait of TH-camrs 😒
I use Duolingo for learn Japanese, but..., my english it's not a high level, so, this harder to me(im Russian), because of that, i don't know verbs well( i write 50 percent of this text with translator)😕
QUESTION: what are the best apps for *understanding* a language (as opposed to speaking it?) The app I have right now gives me a word in English, and then wants me to translate it into Farsi. But I feel like that's geared more towards learning to speak more than to understand. I don't really want to speak Farsi, I just want to understand when my husband and his Mom are talking to each other.
Interesting! Why Latvian? Is it because of the pitch accent? I kind of want to learn Latgalian after I learn my current langauges well enough. The people who speak it are just so passionate about their language which I like a lot
Gotta get up on that Fluyo! Also, @IkennaLanguages I started learning Spanish after watching one of your videos a couple years ago my dude. Duolingo is fantastic for understanding the basics and having general conversations, especially for some of the more popular languages, like Spanish or French. That being said, watching TH-cam videos and creating flashcards on Anki for any language is by far the best language learning method for learning one as fast as possible (albeit not as interactive as Duolingo, and arguably more tedious too).
imo duolingo is great as a supplement, and can introduce you to a language nicely, but to become advanced in a language you will need to use other methods of learning too
