Thank you for the succinct overview of the pros and cons. I appreciate the brief presentation without the theatrics and excessive hyperbole of some other popular (and unpopular) TH-camrs.
got the Sirui one already but don't find it stable with a A7 unless the body is balanced perfectly with a small lens. Is the mantispod more flexible in this regard?
*Have you tried the switch pod?* I want to make videos at my desk (I have a normal tripod) but also might want a smaller tripod to put on the table for sitting a cafe or work desk or minimal vlogging etc. I have an A7IV with 24mm Lens. My first camera. Would you recommend the mantis pod? Does the extra length option help with 24mm vlog?
I have not tried the switch pod, but from what I've seen of Peter McKinnon and Matti Hapooja, they're both using the mantispod pro. I think the extra length will help, esp with the 24mm lens. If budget is not an issue, I would definitely go with the mantispod pro. It will be sturdy enough to work on a higher lens should you choose to later (16-35 or 24-70). Another option is the manfrotto travel tripod, which will do well tabletop and freestanding. Not the best for vlogging but it can be done: amzn.to/3Z1aMsu
The mantispod pro will probably be too short for tabletop vlogging in a studio but you can jerry-rig something with books/boxes. You might want a smaller form factor for vlogging in public but the angle will be of your chin looking up. Just some other thoughts!
@@jonlaidonlie cheers. Yeah, the switch pod looks a little bit taller which could help with desk height for a less chin visual 🤣. The mantis pod looks good. Does it feel strong in the hand and sturdy on a desk? My concern with switchpod is that it doesn’t look as sturdy on a desk (in case the desk is bumped).
@@jonlaidonlie Thank you!! Your review was just on point BTW, convinced me to try it out for my setup with Sony A7IV and 24-105. Maybe I won't need wider lense with that mantispod!
This was super helpful! Thank you so much for the honest feedback and straight to the point delivery!! 🔥
Glad it could be of use!

Thanks for the feedback and glad it could help. Simplicity and succinct-ness is one of the things I'm striving for, glad it's landing!
MantisPod Pro includes a ball mount and a more basic mount. Non-pro MantisPod only includes the basic mount. Ball mount available separately.
Great review ! Helped me make my choice
Love it!!

From what I can remember, the mantispod would be more stable. That's a great point, I use the 20mm which is quite compact. What lens are you using?
@@jonlaidonlie well the 16-35 gm for sure didn’t work. Smaller would work but not rock solid especially when tilting the body
That's a great point and the mantispod would be better in that regard!

@@zippo_muk9254 definitely feels sturdy. You had me considering buying it again 😁
Can I use this 03:15 only on pro version of mantispod 1.0?
No, the non-pro also does the extended mode (original mantispod) amzn.to/40WOzMP

Yeah I hear you. That 24 is just on the border of being too tight!
Can it use on vertical mode on standard version?
Yes you can!
Thank you for saving me from exp. 😅
