    Probably Evette best event, 400m. She should have done more 400 and 200, 100m her start was too slow.

      she had long legs which took a while to get going! I think she could have run an even more fantastic 400 if she trained for it

      @@southafricanathleticslate828 definitely. Where was her coach, surely he could see she was a 400, 200m runner.

      @@roybean7166 Her coach was the late, great Bessie Windell. Don't forget she ran a blistering PB 11.06 for the 100m. As I recall it was Evette who didn't really want to run (and train for) the 400m. Although I do also recall that she did have a go at training for 100/200/400 in a later season, but she didn't come close to that debut performance again. Also to be noted that at that time the doped Eastern Bloc athletes (Marita Koch/ Jarmilla Kratochvilova) were running sub 48 seconds for the 400m. So Evette's 100 & 200 times were looking relatively better in world terms than her 400m
