Sprinters in SA were not world class/elite but interesting to watch the races. @@roybean7166 Hi Roy, I live in Canada and have been following T&F since I was a child. Comparing De Klerk to sprinters such as Ottey, Cuthbert, Jackson, Devers, Torrence, Privalova, etc., is not up for debate. SA Athletics during apartheid was not recognized by IOC and IAAF.

She was primarily a long jumper but I expect she did a lot of sprinting when she was at college in the USA, and she had this one particular 1991 season in SA where was also on fire in the sprints
