I built this plane based on your previous video, but with a foamboard Experimental Airlines foamboard wing. I put landing gear on as I don't like hand launching pusher planes. It is SO efficient and fun to fly. With a 3300mah 4S battery I'm getting easy 15 minute LOS flights. I want to experiment with making my own batteries soon - then I can really push the flight times. Thanks so much for an awesome design!
I started putting together Li-Ions last year, and they've taken over. Not only do they have gobs of capacity, but you can build packs specific to each plane if you're looking to get as much battery in the air as possible, or have unique CG requirements. Molicel branded cells are my suggestion, especially their 21700's if they'll fit your models.
Dang! 16.5km feels like reaching the moon - I'll get there if the circumstances allow, one day - Waiting on a VAS 16-Turn Helical Antenna ordered from GetFPV.com - That'll get me atleast 20km on 5.8Ghz for sure (I hope)
@@AeroStuffFPV wow 16 turn maybe then i will really go to the moon. i m using a 5 turn helical from VAS but i modify it with a reflector dish. using a 5.8ghz 1watt akk race ranger vtx and elrs.
Hello, would you be intrested in making a DIY video in which will you do a step by step guide for making a fpv system in your aircraft, as well as lighting system?
All that information has already been given in his video's, minus the INAV programming, Just read the literature. The lighting systems require no special knowledge or programming, you just buy what he did and install it. Again, that is also in his video's.
Truly amazing with the X8R and 5.8g video which works well and looks good enough to. I too am still using, well the RX8R with the UNI-RX - Universal ACCST firmware which is working well, but then again I don't do long, long range. I like flying and poking at the the edge of LOS and blending into nature so as to soar with soaring birds. Another interest is flying safely in my residential environment along safe corridors such as drainage ditches and green spaces along with using quiet air frame and motor configurations such as the twin tractor so as to avoid disturbing people. Using redundant and well penetrating video and control rf frequency and methods in such dense 2.4g and 5.8g RF environments. Being able to fly at a low enough altitude to absolutely negate the possibility of conflict with low level helicopter traffic. Another goal is programming a safe rth in confined air spaces possibly requiring a smallish VTOL of the Ranger T1 configuration except using Ed's and your building material and methods. Thanks for demonstrating safe longer stuff in which our communities have been doing safely since before 2010.
Yes, all V-Tails should be stabilized. Look how some guy have done it other way, I think the better way. m.th-cam.com/video/T2qWPlmjBdg/w-d-xo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB
Hey, how do you get the two different qualities of video? I assume that the video with the telemetry overlay is transmitted because it's more grainy, but how do you get the clear video, is it recorded on-board?
Ironically, I learned iNav 6 introduces a little bug in automated flight modes. IT'll cause your model to porpoise, or exactly what your plane was doing on the way home, lol. I'd definitely recommend 6.1.
Is the lack of some light, plastic winglets, due to a judgment in; Slightly more drag, but more lift, VS the lower drag with rounded edge wing tips? The landing was classic, coming to a stop right in front of you. Have you considered using the Team Black Sheep Unify Video Tx? Or are you up against a power law, where you are already at maximum power? Perhaps the build quality alone of the TBS transmitter could get you more range. Staying at 800mW of power. I want to say, I appreciate your adding the connection diagram. The only difference between our connections, is I'm using a separate battery for anything video, to reduce possible noise transfer on the power buss's. Great job.
Thanks! The rounded wingtip mods from now on are based on better aerodynamics and better storage - It also allows my V-Pushers to look like XUAV Talons😎
Thank you for the video. How about buying a TBS Crossfire system. I think you've doubled your flight range. By video communication, you need to make the simplest ground station and not sculpt "spiral horns" on glasses LOL. Good luck and health, the rest will follow.
Hi, new sub here. Your channel is awesome, has a COMPLETE beginner in RC flyin stuff ( never flight anything ) can you advise me on RADIO / electronics / FPV stuff for a beginner... maybe a : "build your 1st ever plane" can be usefull. THx for sharing passion with us.

2 choices, 1) Start by going to college for aerodynamics, or mechanical or electrical engineering. All engineering disciplines teach you physics, and how planes fly. (see you in 4 years) or 2) Build one of his designs and learn the basics of flight on your own.
You can fly MUCH further with fixed wing aircraft, drones are very inefficient and don't have the flight time. Even if you go 1 way. : ) Here is why you're limited to 125M. th-cam.com/users/shorts4uPihoAfmMs?feature=share
Seriously? He is a bit busy providing video's for people who scratch build using everything that is dirt cheap. This allows people to get into the hobby without buying expensive pieces of foam that cost way too much for the average person. That is his niche. Just modify your Zohd and do it.
This one ran for 23 minutes as it says in the fpv camera. Some endurance drones can reach up to 55 minutes and fixed wings are capable of much more than that.
If you lose GPS, would the flight controller be able to come back using its internal 9 DOF MEMS INS, and other sensors? How much drift/minute are we talking about? How did the old missiles worked before GPS is what I'm getting at.
@@collinw24 Are you referring to electro-mechical gyros, like the ones on older planes? Cuz when I was flying my Cessna 152 in training, I remember I had to null the gyros after a dozen sharp manoeuvres.
I dream of having a nice rc plane with the fpv and longest range possible. The plane having a functional bomb bay and the ability too carry small loads. I can give a little weed to my buddy when hes out and can't get any for a while. Imagine a toy b29 flys over your house and drop a little parachute bomb with weed in it.
