love the music, adds great atmosphere, and good job keeping the hammering sounds in too. Thank you for not making the mistake that a lot of producers/channels do of thinking we don't want to hear the hammering and tool sounds and grinding. a mix of both is good. Think of it like TopGear, i want to hear the music (that helps tell the story and set the tone) and the epic engine sounds, if you leave one of them out the other becomes meaningless.
@@ThatWorks - Ah, well... Never mind. Speaking purely for myself, I can't stand music in this kind of video; it's like being forced to listen to a so-called live studio audience's orchestrated responses to a lame TV sit-com. If a theatre play or TV comedy programme's genuinely funny it plays in silence to an appreciative audience. No laugh-track, no 'mood music'. I don't need telling when to laugh or what to laugh at or what I ought to be feeling when something sad happens. When a video like this - on an infinitely fascinating subject - is playing, I'd really rather just hear the same workshop sounds, ambience and banter that the guys involved are hearing. Why treat us differently? What have we done wrong to deserve missing out on all the good bits? If you feel the need to vary things and expand the video's dynamic range, a quietly-spoken voice-over is a viable option, perhaps explaining the intricacies of the current process, but music just kills the atmosphere of intelligent craftsmanship stone dead (in my opinion). Music is a sop to casual viewers who are easily bored by the subject matter and who'd prefer to be watching something else. But this kind of video isn't boring; it's brilliant, and the sort of people who will appreciate it most are in no danger of switching off just because they can't dance to it. So... I hate the music. I suppose that makes me a freak, but so be it. There's always the option to mute, but that loses 50% of the enjoyment of the creative process. Aw, poo. 😞
I probably should've waited until the end of the video to comment; the swirls in the wrought iron and the Damascus remind me of the cloud formations of Jupiter. Pretty freakin' cool.
It's so great to see Will working with y'all...But Will, don't you have a Beaudry power hammer you're supposed to be working on, young man? Jokes aside, thanks so much for doing this collab. It's a real delight to see you working with him.
Great collaboration, and a wonderful result. Got to say I would’ve left the filework just to the handle where it’s sealed, but fortunately I don’t have to clean it after use. Loving the wrought body and the handle really compliments the piece.
That’s what I usually do. Not so much for the cleaning but being able to strike the spine with a Mallet. The group all chose all the way up for looks. I like it!
As someone who worked in fabrication for the last 3 years not too long ago, I flinched like crazy when he put his gloved hand literally ON the grinding wheel as he was grinding.
Great work guys. That is one beautiful piece of apocalyptic blade art right there. My first anvil arrived through the post today and in the next week I have a two burner propane forge that I will be lining with satanite and an antique hammer to finish re-facing... and then..... ⚒👍👍 (I'm pretty excited about it) 🙂
