I mean, I think it's fair that a normal person would consider it a two handed weapon, if you think about just how ridiculously strong the protagonists from Dark Souls can get to be.

@@wyattben123 Depends on how much the armor supports itself. If that armor weighs as much as it looks like it should, I.E. several hundred pounds for just the breastplate, ain't nobody wearing that thing unless it can literally hold itself up.

One of the Coolest designs i’ve seen for sword smithing in a fair bit. Simply love how flexible yet strong it is. The blade geometry has to be brilliant to allow it to abuse the hell out of all those targets, AND still avoid any critical blade problems (like a warp, chipping, or other problems). Since, it’s both a flexible and a solid design, boys this thing is dangerous. It will kiilll.
Fun fact actually about this sword and Berserk since you mentioned Guts- the Lothric Knight sword is actually just Casca's sword from her time in the Band of the Hawk.
Such an elegant sword - the range, the scaling, the wear on the R1 button. I'm so glad you made another Souls weapon and you chose one that is both iconic and works in real life.
uuuhh my favorite blade in all of the souls games, I was not disappointed on the contrary that was a damn beautifully crafted blade, although it looks a bit bigger than the ingame version.
@@dearcastiel4667 Yeah that's true, I was mostly thinking the player version, guess I am a tad biased since I spent a good 80% of my DS3 time using it.
@@dearcastiel4667 then again, the npcs aren't human sized, they're... I don't know, but the player character is human sized, i'm not sure going for the enemy npc proportions was right... Also the "spikes" are a bit more closer to the point than in the game, but other than that, it's a damn fine looking sword.
I’m flabbergasted that Ilya made a mistake!!! Thank you for making these videos! I was almost all set up to make blades. Odin is a very good friend of mine who was going to teach me in place of me letting him use the forge. I ended up with a screwed up neck needing a few surgeries that ended my bladesmithing dream. And Odin moved away. So I have a forge that does nothing. Just two blades that Odin made for himself. I just wanted to make Striders knife in Damascus steel usable in stead of the J20 stainless that my LOTR Windless Cutlery show blade. Alas, although I have a basic forge I can no longer afford to do anything at except dream about that knife. Getting older too. And weaker since I can’t use my arms as well and now have very bad lower back problems. But your videos give me great comfort and my dreams come alive through you all and the videos you share. I’d love to see a challenge between one of your blades vs an Angel Sword blade sine I cannot stand Daniel. He’s such a grifter...
That Works illya is a master at what he does. After that Excalibur he made with AweMe I haven’t a doubt in my mind he could make that sword masterfully. And it is a damn beautiful sword. Make it happen guys!!
The end result is absolutely gorgeous. Maybe you could do the Lothric Knight Ultra Greatsword somewhere down the line. Or just go all in and make the Fume. Granted no one would be able to use it, but it would be cool nonetheless lol.
the fact that the Evenheat kiln is so well insulated that it can be 1500 degrees F inside, and you can touch the outer shell is fuckin nuts. thats some crazy good insulation
Love the Lothric Knight Sword. I got it to drop in my blind run of DS3 when I killed the Lothric Knight at the High Wall the first time. It was a SUPER lucky drop, and I started using it once I realized it was the Baller Swag Sword 2.0. It's definitely the best straight sword in the game. It's got great damage and scaling, and it's moveset is excellent, but it's range is where it shines. It would be cool to see you make the Tonitrus from Bloodborne. Hands down my favorite weapon in that game.
It's always great seeing a Dark Souls weapon made IRL. One I'd personally like to see would be one day would be the Drangleic Sword. (I know, requests aren't made here, just stating the one I'd like to see.) In 2 I always liked how fancy some of the greatsword's moves tended to look, so it ended up as one of my favorites.
Great build! Videos in this format definitely scratch the old Man at Arms itch. Looking forward to more content like it from you guys and from AWE Me. And now that Forged in FIre is inviting champions back for Beat the Judges, I would love to see Ilya compete again.
Love me some Dark Souls builds. I would say Fromsoft made some beautiful games in the last decade. They really deserve the praise they get. For a build suggestion, what about something from Kingdom Come Deliverance? Might try Henrys sword
@@ThatWorks It is definetly something different, kind of an old school RPG, where you start as an absolute 0 without any skills whatsoever. But the game will teach you the basics through series of quests and you will start to understand how things work. World design is amazing, tho I might be a little biased, since I live in the area, in which the game is based about. Storytelling and humour is too, really good. Definetly worth the shot, its like $15 now on steam
Wow you can actually tell in video how even that heat was before you quenched it. Very nice I see videos all the time where you can see the brighter and darker sections of the metal before the quench and I always wonder about it
This definitely has a rating of wondrous on the titanite scale! A very cool build to see would be the Onyx Blade which can be obtained by defeating Sir Vilhelm in the Painted World of Ariandel. It's one of my favorites and I have it maxed out.
I would kill to see someone forge the Onyx Blade! It's so badass looking. But man, will that be difficult. There's a lot going on in that design. I wonder if it would actually be usable too.

An electric forge is so appropriate for a Lothric sword. Just imagine a giant with lightning-imbued hammer, anvil, or just holding the blade aloft for it to be struck be lightning before returning to their work.
The contrast between you guys forging and shaping this awesome blade with bad ass music in slow motion to the shot of you guys stomping the blade in the dirt with no music was pretty hilarious I’m not gonna lie 😂😂😂
I would love to see you guys make "Conans fathers sword" from the original Arnold film. The one that was being made in the intro of the film. I understand that the original sword smith made all the swords in that movie pretty thick and heavy.
Usually when I look up the name of a souls weapon on youtube, I get a weapon showcase. But today I get surprised with this fun watch instead! Great work boys!
It may not look like that big of a deal, but holy shit I admire Mr. Alekseyev's technique so much. One of the hardest things for fledgling blacksmiths (or at least it was for me) is keeping the steel leveled on the power hammer die and especially doing hammer work on the anvil. I have to do it by feel and adjusting the material, looking to check, then continuing. Mr. Alekseyev can do this just by feel alone. Without pausing to check. I just think that's incredible haha
To whoever is doing the audio mixing/editing, there's one point just a lil over halfway through the vid where it isn't hard to hear the commentary per se, but it isn't as comfortable of a listening experience as it could be. Otherwise I'd say it was good all throughout. Pretty glad you guys are on your own now. I like the video format more now. Has less of a Hollywood-like feel, it's more personal-feeling.
Agreed. I found the sound levels fluctuated three times, most noticeably between music and dialogue sections. Enough that I had to keep tweaking the volume, to avoid waking my landlady's daughter.

Did a little binge watching of Man At Arms Reforged. You do the beauty shots so much better. Multiple lingering on the whole weapon is more helpful to gain the sense of it as a whole.
I'm glad I found this. Its good to see you guys are still working on these great pieces. It really reminded me how I really should have gotten into metallurgy when I was in college. I sure hope you guys are still enjoying what you do especially.
These videos have a certain resonance about them I think it’s the sound tracks you guys are using it reminds me of the feeling you get in the assassins creed opening scenes, almost hypnotising to watch and really plays on the emotions and theme to the individual builds.
I have used this sword in the game far more than any of the other straight sword, because of the stats. Plus, it looks cool, given how simple the design was.

@@colekenney2965 it's basically an acid etch, which will darken it. I believe using the dirt makes it less of a uniform etch.

Yes it does a bit. I like the sound. It helps keep rhythm while forging.

To whoever is doing the audio mixing/editing, there's one point just a lil over halfway through the vid where it isn't hard to hear the commentary per se, but it isn't as comfortable of a listening experience as it could be. Otherwise I'd say it was good all throughout.
Pretty glad you guys are on your own now. I like the video format more now. Has less of a Hollywood-like feel, it's more personal-feeling.
Agreed. I found the sound levels fluctuated three times, most noticeably between music and dialogue sections. Enough that I had to keep tweaking the volume, to avoid waking my landlady's daughter.

Did a little binge watching of Man At Arms Reforged. You do the beauty shots so much better. Multiple lingering on the whole weapon is more helpful to gain the sense of it as a whole.

These videos have a certain resonance about them I think it’s the sound tracks you guys are using it reminds me of the feeling you get in the assassins creed opening scenes, almost hypnotising to watch and really plays on the emotions and theme to the individual builds.
Of course the first video of yours I see recommended is Dark Souls related, And it looks goooood, Subbed.
I have used this sword in the game far more than any of the other straight sword, because of the stats. Plus, it looks cool, given how simple the design was.
