  • Anzio is a coastal town and commune in the #Lazio region of #Italy, approximately 50 kilometres south of Rome.
Known in ancient times as Antium, Anzio was a prominent settlement of the Volsci, an Italic tribe. It later became a favoured resort for Roman elites, including emperors. Emperors Caligula and Nero were born in Anzio. Nero even built a luxurious villa there, remnants of which can still be seen today. A part of these remnants have been filmed in this vlog.
Anzio is famous for its role in World War II, specifically the Battle of Anzio (January 22 - June 5, 1944). The Allied forces launched Operation Shingle, a significant amphibious assault, aiming to bypass German defences and eventually liberate Rome. The remnants from this operation representing the docking areas for military boats have also been filmed in this vlog.
This vlog also presents a couple of prices for renting or buying houses in Anzio, and some food prices from restaurants and markets as well.

The carvings are indeed amazing. Also the writings are interesting. Here I've managed somehow to translate what's written there. If you hit the [cc] button, you'll see. Cheers!

You should! The area definitely worth visiting. They also have an interesting museum there called the Anzio Beachhead Museum (Museum dello sbarco di Anzio), that has a lot of interesting WW2 stuff. So you may want to visit this one as well 😉 Cheers!

Yeah, the pizza was looking good and was tasty as well. Regarding the pineapple on it, will be considered an offence there, if you will ask for :)
