Wowzers! Just got home and the first song I decided to stick on was 'Mad Jack'. Well what a treat it was to see they have played KEXP recently! I like to think that every Chameleons listener gets a sated feeling inside. Like there isn't anything else that can fill that tiny void within. It has to be The Chameleons. Such a cool band man.
The Chameleons reformed again? Wild. Anyway, always loved this song. Great portrait of That One Friend, you know the one. Helps that the main riff is indelible. I do feel like the performance loses something without the volume/feedback and massive echo effects-there's a reason that most people cite them or A.R. Kane as the first shoegaze act-but the actual playing is still on point and they seem to be having a decent time, which is more than a lot of bands still active from their era can say.
The Chameleons - Mad Jack (Live on KEXP) 1313pm 29.8.24 the dudes who i used to see drinking in the pub loved this old hat uncategorizeable (sic) band... i even went and bought an album of the chameleons just to sate their unease at my inability to acknowledge their culture....... it was stolen. did i care? probbaly....

A great indie style from 80s UK indie that was a great sound. Copey, teardrop explodes vibes and of course Chameleons
One of my ALL TIME FAVE bands !!!!
I love this song! My love for The Chameleons goes way back & can finally, now say, that I've seen them perform live. Thanks KEXP! 🖤
LOVE LOVE LOVE the googly eyes on the guitar! Absolute banger of a song too
I’ll see them tomorrow!

Not that many bands are as good now as they were in the '80s.
