I had the privilege to sing with them!It was in Berlin Kreuzberg in the late 80's...They played in a club and there were maybe 20 people listening to them...so we had a jam session together...amazing...I will never forget!I'm 45 now!
Stumbled on Strange Times in a Radio Shack in 1986 as a confused teen. Have held it dear to my heart since with the rest of their efforts. A very human experience these blokes. God love them.
OMG went to see them last night in their home town of Middleton for my 40th birthday!!! What a night!!!!! I'm crying typing this coz it was so F**king great!!! I have loved The Chameleons for years but never got the chance to see them before now!!! A birthday I will NEVER forget!!!!
I was 17 years in 1985 and was playing drums in a band in Paris...All the band's members were Chameleons huge fans..This was in 1985..Then 16 years passes , we found jobs , some had kids , some divorced...Suddenly In 2001 , The same band members call each other to see the Chameleons live in ..Paris for a unique show..Ungorgettable moment..We nearly cried at this end........We are now all 42 years old and still listen to this legend band
I will always come back to this performance, it's so beautiful that we're like magnets. I have left a comment here every year for the past 5 years lol.
That's a very beautiful comment for a very beautiful song. A friend introduced me to The Cs early on (thanks Dave). They haven't faded, and I don't imagine they ever will. I love playing this back to back with the Camden Palace 1985 version. Completely different takes, but both soar. Special. Very, very special.
I remember listening to this with my mate Nige years ago at college. He was there at San Fran' gigs......I made do,if thats the right words, with the practice gig in Manchester.....bloody superb!!!!!and there's not much that beats it even now....20 years on!!!!!
There is no replacement for Dave Fielding.....the way he is able to build up atmospheres......that cannot be copied nor plagiarized. It's absolutely unique.
this is just awesome. I'm awestruck by this performance. And this is the first time I heard this song. Honestly rarely am I this much awestruck by a performance. Consider me a fan.
Anyone not familiar with this band needs to go out and buy their cd's. They're all GREAT! And if you can see them live, do yourself a favor and do it. It's like floating on a cloud (if you could that is).
this is the price of playing for the love of music and not selling your soul to a commercial record company..:) on Xfactor they/he would be told to go.. and rightly so.. for this is pure music for the awakened pure of heart music lovers, bliss in conception and untouched by commercialism.. mark, you are as inspiring as ian curtis..keeping music alive and out of the mainstream. you and your band have the sacred gene.. dont stop ever! peace and love :)
@BorlandRIP7 lucky bugger been a fan since '81 n they still give me a huge buzz saw them last week n cant wait to do the same in august .Manchesters finest EVER !!!!!
has been one of my favourite bands, since i first listened it brings me chills on my back... they are awesome, will always remember them Una de mis bandas favoritas desde que los escuche por primera vez, esta cancion es la pataaaaaaaaaa, siempre los recordare
I think at the end Mark repeats the chorus "the times are turning".Is he the so long awaited new age prophet? xDDD Dave Fielding uses flanger effect the last minute of the song.Killer guitar skills...
Hugh, Temos de fazer uma petição e saber quantos interessados temos, depois é arranjar um promotor e trazer os chameleons cá. E, por último, celebrar...abraços
WORD, rooney! it's frikkin crying SHAME that the chameleons were'nt bigger than echo, etc. i don't know who wrote better songs, but i'm POSITIVE mark was/is a better human being than that prick Ian. too bad mark & will couldnt' have played together :-)

The best thing to ever come out of Manchester! And to influence soo many!
Stunning modal voicings, The Chameleons create a huge, expanded palette of sound that few bands ever achieve.
Really chilling and yes, a very underrated band. They were 1 of my cassettes that traveled around the world with me. That good. Still have it.
Brilliant. Perfect version of this song *GOOSEBUMPS*

xJoyce- its the Chams' original song.
It does appear so, doesn't it (sans voice, thank Christ).
No, that is what you think. That doesn't make it a fact.
And I know it's their original song, that's why I said cover. >_>
google " red sun records ascension DVD "
hairs on me back standing up....comments on here are echoed....

this is ok for a live gig, but you cant beat the recorded version.
music should hang up its boots,,,,
because nothing will surpass the chameleons
WORD, rooney! it's frikkin crying SHAME that the chameleons were'nt bigger than echo, etc. i don't know who wrote better songs, but i'm POSITIVE mark was/is a better human being than that prick Ian. too bad mark & will couldnt' have played together :-)
I like Jesus on Extasy's cover better. But that's personal taste.
Lol a Manchester City logo on his guitar
Did I say "I fucking hate them!!"? No. I said "I like the cover better, though that is personal taste." Respect my opinion.
You're 40, right?
The chameleons are 1000 times better live. You say that only because you have not purchased any of their live DVD.Insults are not rewarded here.
Read my comment before replying. Thank you.
Dave and Reg...........copied, but never equalled.
Nothing touches the original. Sorry.
Very beautiful.
