I’d say your incident was purely on the Porsche. At his pace into ascari there was no chance he could hold his line on the left side of the track while leaving you space ON the track continuing your line unimpeded.
My bet is he will think better of a move like that in the future. My bet is he also received some unpleasant messages in chat about his re entry.
Hopefully a lesson learned by him.

7:23 one option would be to surrender the corner to him. Since his exit would be compromised, you focus on making a good exit. (A bit harder for you w/ the back to back turns, if attempted on a single turn it would be easier to take it back on the exit).
This doesn't barr him from going wide & running into you anyway though 🤨
If you did get a pretty good exit on the last of those corners you would have almost definitely been able to pass him back by the end of the straightaway, and lost less time than if you went through that corner 2 by 2.
I remember Max Verstappen & Valentino Rossi doing this many times in their battles. This does require patience, the consistency, and the confidence to nail that final exit for maximum chance of success.

Now THAT’S the iRacing I know and love 🤣 Really hard luck Lorenzo, that Ascari incident was so frustrating for you, as you did incredibly well to avoid all the mayhem before then. I don’t know why people continue to attempt an overtake there… I’ve never seen it work, and it always ends in disaster. The only thing worse, was the shocking rejoin after! Better luck next time, mate. Keep up the good work

Monza and Watkins are in m y experience the 2 tracks where the driving standards are the lowest. So i try to stay clear of them. :)

Dive bombing into a chicane is rarely worth the risk. As a safer alternative, I would look to get a better exit and overtake on the straight.

It was definitely a killer combo this Lorenzo, I had bad damage in the race we were in together, but still sort of enjoyed the race. I did manage to get a half decent race in eventually but may park this combo there and leave it..!!

D Class 2.7 and 1.6k iRating - Rookies in a Rookie-Class-Race doing rookie things… (GT4 requieres D Lizenz, so it’s still a Rookie-Class) that‘s Sim Racing 🤷🏻♂️ sometimes completely annoying, but we love it anyway

I know how that feels. Dive bombing ldiots or guys who claim a corner when they're not even along side. If you don't yield, both cars are out. I don't know if they just don't care or think "yeah I'm such a good driver", when they only survived by the mercy of the other guy, or if they just lack the mental capacity to comprehend, what's going on. Re joining into the traffic is the icing in the ldiot cake.
😂😂 it's true! it's just something that needs to be taken into account unfortunately, assuming the worst and acting accordingly has saved me so many times, although it's not ideal!
Not going to buy any new cars this season just tracks. Will race FF1600 F4 GT4 and GR86. Going to buy Raod Atlanta, Mount Panorama, Mosport because it's my home track and maybe Sandown. Is Sandown a good track. Looks like it gets used a lot this coming season.
I always check the schedule for the series I plan to race during a particular season. I only buy the tracks that will allow me to participate in a series every week of the season. I tend to chose 1 series to focus on most and make sure I participate in at least 1 race each week of the season. That way I earn the $8 from iracing for series/season participation.
So my goal is to earn that $34 every year to help offset cost.

Am I the only one that don’t think that was a dive bomb ? You left the door open he was far enough along side you and you turned in to him, that’s my 2 cents anyway, but that rejoin was disgraceful
Fair point! I just really wasn’t expecting the lunge - the door was technically open, but he was quite far behind when he attacked, and then he sort of understeered into me. In any case, I think your assessment is also fair mate 😊
@LDFR: did you have a normal braking point? Seems before you slowed down he was much more effecient in doing so.
From the point he's 3/4 of the way there. It's a mix of racing incident to the other guy's responaibility with the only angles we have.
It looks like he was going for a normal wide exit (towards kerbs) and hence why you've made contact, and thus the touche's prominent responsibility on him.
@@Halflernation Hey mate, fair assessment! And yes I braked at my usual braking point, which is the exit road on the left a car lenght before the 100 meter board - that's the classic brake marker in GT4 for this track, at least according to the track guides I watched to prep for this :)

Hey mate, if you see my onboard footage I was on the racing line about to turn in towards the apex, when I saw his car on a collision course with mine and decided to opt out. I suspect that if I pulled in towards the apex he would have equally taken me out, so I tried to buy myself some time and space. Bear in mind this is all done in a split second, it’s a lot easier to look at it afterwards and in hindsight I would have definitely defended more aggressively as you say 😊 also in his onboard you can see that he understeers into me (car going straight with a bunch of steering angle) - that’s also why I called it a divebomb. But I completely get your point!
Agree. No chance the Porsche could hold his line on the left side of the track. It was a poor choice on his part. He came in hot and slid to the right side of the track where your car was causing the contact. 100% on the Porsche.
To answer the question about Sim racing YTers being passive drivers.
In truth they are not. For these folks to take the time and edit and create content for us to watch implies that they are enthusiasts about sim racing and enjoy sharing their passion with others. Since we have now established that they are passionate about sim racing, then that implies they are also desirous of honing their craft and becoming better and more competitive at their passion. Sim racing.
I think it's inexperience of the guy with her dive bomb and bad rejoin. Have to admit I can make the same mistake in my enthusiasm and lack of experience. Think we have to remember we all started somewhere and most try our best, even when this sometimes is pretty bad 😅
Yeah absolutely, that’s also why I said no hard feelings of course. It happens! I was just on a terrible run all day as I explained in the video, so it was a hard one to swallow. Especially after such a great start avoiding all those wrecks!

Yea, Mr. Porsche was/is an idiot. If he wanted the inside then HE needed to brake early enough to remain completely inside of you thru the entry corner and then be ready for the outside of the next corner.
