Federal House, designed by Edition Office and located in Federal, Australia, is an architectural marvel that harmonizes with its natural surroundings while standing out as a modern structure. The house features a unique roof and thick timber battens, creating a dialogue between the building and its environment. Inspired by colonial settler homesteads, the design incorporates a deep verandah that provides seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, offering shelter from varying weather conditions. One of the standout features is the underground swimming pool connected to a planted void, enhancing the sense of place and tranquility. The house is also equipped with sustainable systems, including natural ventilation, rainwater harvesting, and infrastructure for solar energy. Overall, Federal House exemplifies a thoughtful blend of modern design, sustainability, and respect for the indigenous cultural heritage of its location.

What a design! Great job!
A very Yin house for sure. The word noir comes to mind. If anyone does in fact live in this home, it would be interesting to know what they do for fun. Just saying, but yes, the modern design is fantastic!
