    Hey that's my TZFM video graphic at 1:24 :D. I am honored to see that it's found its way into one of your videos by way of a patchwerks post.

      Cheers. Can I put a link for your stuff or post or something in the video description?

    So awesome that you highlight the Pony a little bit. I liked the module so much I have two now, and NOW that you demonstrated some great through zero FM I need to go patch this up. This stuff sounds amazing!

    The Doepfer A-110-6 Trapezoid Thru-Zero VCO is an absolute monster of an oscillator, can whole-heartedly suggest it for anyone wanting to have a play with this kind of thing in euro.

    Just what I needed. Another reason to buy modular gear! 😉
    Thanks for everything you do!

    Pigments is the software version of the hydrasyth🤘I love both but the hydrasynth is amazing for this!

      I keep wondering whether it's Pigments or VCV Rack that can get me closest to the results Jeremy achieved in his legendary self-playing Hydra pt2 arpeggio video (the jaw-dropping patch at the end).
      If I know which of the 2 I should focus on I can throw myself into that. Any thoughts welcome.

    Just going to throw out the suggestion of using Count Modula's scope. It's a really nice 4 trace, with larger display than the stock one.

    oh would you look at that. I was just going to look for some ideas of what to patch up, and there's a notification for this video just waiting for me. Sweet.

    • @CatFish107

      Also, using mults in VCV. (I realise that's useful to show how you'd do it in hardware.)

    It would be really nice if VCV rack had a feature where it could look for and download all the modules a savefile uses so you dont have to maunally find all the modules

    Great video and I've gotta experiment more with varying envelopes like you've shown here. I've been enjoying TZFM with ALM's Tazm-O. It's got a smooth wave shaping output to give even more timbre change over time :)

    Do I need only Thru-Zero at the modulator side, or also at the carrier side? I have only space for the Befaco Pony beside my Make-Noise DPO, which is not a Thru-Zero-OSC.

  • @Sangejzer
    @Sangejzer ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you need to use different kind of VCO for through-zero or was it just without reason?

  • @CatFish107
    @CatFish107 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The little sequence switching between the 2 types of FM could use a little bit of drum accompaniment

    • @RedMeansRecording

    You missed listing most of the prominent thru-zero oscillators, but people can do their own research. I’ve watched it go from rare to common in Eurorack oscillator designs.

    Thx for video but I'm new to this so don't really get it. What about using the Sync on Pony to sync with the other oscillator? Wouldn't that also make the FM more musical? You don't sync the oscillators when using Through-Zero FM? I'm so confused....

    • @RedMeansRecording
      @RedMeansRecording  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sync and FM are different. Sync resets the start of one oscillator based on the frequency of another.

      To add to this, in most of this video, the same pitch information is being sent to both vcos and for tzfm it sounds quite sweet, when you fix the pitch of the modular it sounds a little bit wilder (but you can still make out the tune). If you sync the vcos, then they have the same pitch but they won’t be sin waves anymore, so it will be subtly different.

    You can also use WMD C4RBN Filter for giving salaciously salty examples of hard FM sounds but you must utilize the actual Module. No softy vcv stuff. Does the C4RBN Filter do TZFM,
    not sure ...Give it a try.💡🤖🤙🏽🎛🎶💥
