7 Curious Facts Your Appearance Says About You

  • Research continues to show that our appearance can say a lot about our personality and lifestyle. Let’s find out what exactly your facial features can say about you.
Psychologist and neuroscientist Dr. Keith Welker studied the facial structure of around 1,000 World Cup soccer players and found that a player’s facial width-to-height ratio was closely connected to the number of goals he scored. The higher the number, the more competent a person is.
Your wrinkles tell the story of your life. There are certain muscles that work every time you smile, cry, frown, or raise your brows. After some time, they get used to particular emotions and “draw” them on your face, making them visible even when your face is resting.
There's a slight differentiation between genders when it comes to picking “the good side”. Women tend to turn to the camera with their left side. Researches believe that this is because the left part of our face is controlled by the right hemisphere of our brain, which is responsible for our emotions. That's why it seems way more attractive.
In 2015 a group of scientists analyzed 123 selfies taken from Sina Weibo, a Chinese microblogging site sort of like Twitter. The researchers found a fascinating connection between types of selfies and people's personalities. Selfie takers with the infamous duck face and high angle tend to be neurotic. People who are friendlier and more open to new experiences tend to use the bottom-up approach while taking selfies.
Have you ever noticed how identical twins start to look less and less alike as they get older? You can have the best genes ever, but the lifestyle you lead will still affect your appearance.

    SUMMARY
-According to the research, the visually wider your face, the higher your chances of being successful are.
-British scientists have found that men with higher levels of testosterone have wider faces with broad cheekbones.
-Crow's feet and smile lines say that you're a true optimist who's pretty emotional but also just loves to laugh and have a good time. A crease on your forehead between your eyebrows suggests a completely different story.
-Engineers, mathematicians, and chemists usually pose with their right side to the camera, while art critics and psychologists prefer their left side.
-People who are friendlier and more open to new experiences tend to use the bottom-up approach while taking selfies.
-The bigger a person's nose, the more ambitious they are.
-Your bad habits are slowly being imprinted right on your face.
-Beautiful people might seem way friendlier than they really are. Those with a round face and big eyes are often seen as naive, genuine, and kind.

I have a round face with big eyes. I know a lot of things about certain people and life in general, but no one is ever intimidated by me upfront. Until I show them a real life example. I’ve always wondered why some people didn’t take me seriously. My face isn’t threatening. 🙄🤔

Interesting video. And although I think there are many exceptions and the only way to really know someones personality is to get better known with them, it makes sense that some appearance traits may say something about personality. Especially traits associated with high testosterone versus low testosterone, as those actually influence both personality and physics. Also the point about what wrinkles you develope may have some relevance, as common facial expressions can mean something. But one problem with it is people dont always show their real emotions. And people can also have better or worse periods of their life, so their current face might be "outdated"

I remember the days when people with tiny eyes were considered to be a crook or gangster, However, if you really look at a person's face it can usually tell you a lot about the person. You can tell when they are telling you a lie, or when they are unsure of whatever they are talking about. Also body language is a good way to usually tell things about a person. Sometimes just one picture of a person's face can tell you a lot about their life style. I found this video to be a lot of fun and could be some what educational.

    • @KuraIthys
      @KuraIthys 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

It's misleading because it's out of context.
The video itself repeats the picture but shows it's related to performance in football.
'leader' means 'good at scoring goals in football' (or soccer if you're American.)
      So...
It's a highly contextual thing that's been presented in a way that makes it seem more broad than it actually is.

I believe they said a wider face indicates a higher testosterone level, which, isn't always "best".

    • @blondwiththewind
      @blondwiththewind 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Jennifer: these videos do NOT always represent "studies" carefully. For the most part: the shape of a person's face is GENETICALLY DETERMINED (since before birth). "Testosterone" does not become a behavioral problem in children (aka: boys) until after puberty begins. Yes....testosterone can affect behavior at times (which is what the narrator was likely suggesting)....but the general shape of the face was determined long before then.
ALSO: Women have the SAME general face shapes as men. SO: the women with square or rectangular face shapes would have the same presumptions about "leadership" characteristics as men.....but women never are affected by large amount of testosterone production.
You have to think these issues through when watching these videos....not just accept them as being complete information.
You are NOT going to get complete information about this sort of topic in just 8 minutes, 31 seconds.

No this isn’t because of personality. It’s because people don’t like long faces or close set eyes, like high cheekbones etc. this isn’t a trend. This is human instinct. This is what makes one person more attractive than another
All other things equal, the person with the more pleasantly proportioned face will get more opportunity

vikas k ..... For the most part, if their life experiences are very similar then they will be very similar throughout their lives in personality. That being said, they can turn out very different if their life experiences are different., but they are more likely to share traits in common than normal brothers and sisters.

vikas k . Your question makes me want to look at these conjoined twins, that you can find on TH-cam, again. I think one of the girls names was Abigail but I can't remember her sister's name. They were on like a news / documentary when they were in high school and then there is another video on TH-cam where they had gotten a job as 5th grade math teachers, I think. I know they were from the Midwest, I'm sinking either Kansas or New Mexico Maybe? The reason I want to take another look at them is because one of the sisters seemed to dominate their body in that she stood a little more upright and in line with the lower body and taller where her sister's head was a little lower and to the side, and the girl who seemed to dominate the body also seemed to be a little more assertive and quicker to speak, but I want to look again now.

You see it's in fact wrong because in the first picture (leader) is taken from the front and the other picture (follower) is taken from the side. And I think that this video is just not right because no matter what you look like it's the hard work and never giving up and lots of effort that will make you a leader not the way you look like ❤❤❤ hope as many people get this.

@@thubelihlekupa3339 It was more of a booklet-3"x5" with several pages. I don't know where it might be now. What mainly determines certain traits is not the size of one's nose but how one was raised, The booklet over simplified a very complicated set of traits. When talking about Humans nothing is simple.

If that's what you're worried about, don't. It's not true. People keep going back to this stuff, trying to make it the truth (generally because it makes them the superior type). I am concerned about that, but there are always people who like to believe lies, and they use them to make trouble for others. That's sad, but it still doesn't make this true. Thank you, Jesus, for testifying of the truth.

Depends on the perception of the watcher of course. If people don’t want to align with their perception of the life the person of color is likely living, that’s a negative incentive to buy...an emotional disconnect.
As a example, I would consider purchasing an item Donald Trump advertised. Oprah...not so much and would never look through an “Oprah’s favorite things catalog.”
